Chapter 7
Chapter 7 — Where Sunset Falls
“Grandma,” He opened his mouth: “Recently Niem Niem's health is not good——”
“Nothing bad.” I interrupted him, smiled and looked at Grandma Luc: "Grandma, I'm going with you."
Grandma Luc happily laughed: "Good good good, then it's decided." Luc Thoi Yen looked at me, with some confusion in his eyes, then gradually turned to determination - he was sure that my anger had calmed down, this "divorce request" was just like the previous ones, it simply ended peacefully.
“Okay.” He put his hand on my shoulder: "Let's go then."
I did not avoid it.
“Hey, look at how good the relationship between you two is.” Grandma Luc smiled and said.
I bowed my head and said nothing.
“Niem Niem,” Luc Thoi Yen whispered close to my ear: “Wait until we get back from Sanya, let's have a child.”
I raised my head to look at him, without saying a word. Waiting to return from Sanya? By then, the divorce procedure will probably have been completed. 9. Two months passed very quickly. During these two months, I took the time to return to mine and Luc Thoi Yen's apartment to clean up my belongings. Clothes, books, cosmetics, one by one, put them all in the suitcase. That position does not originally belong to me. At first, when he texted me, I even replied: *"We're divorced, don't text me anymore"*. But he ignored me, just pretending that I was sulking again, the messages kept coming regularly. Later, I was too lazy to reply, letting those messages lie dormant in the chat box, line by line, gradually sinking to the bottom. That night, he stopped me downstairs at the company. I don't know when it started to rain. The raindrops fell "pop" and hit the roof of the car parked next to it. Luc Thoi Yen stood under the streetlight, not knowing how long he waited. Seeing me step out, he came closer, looked at me for a long time and then suddenly said: "Why are you avoiding me?" Why? This is a very simple question as an "ex-wife", but extremely difficult to answer for "the person who has been waiting for him for three years". My fingers holding the umbrella handle tightened little by little, and finally I replied softly: "I'm not avoiding it, I'm just busy." Luc Thoi Yen took a step forward, rainwater running down his face: "It's been two months, I haven't come home, I haven't answered the phone, Khuong Niem, what do you want?" I looked at his face. After two months of not seeing him, he had become a little thinner, with blood in his eyes. What do I want? I didn't think anything, I just wanted to stay a little away from him.
"Luc Thoi Yen," I said: "I have already moved all my belongings, my house key is in the drawer in the hallway. All the procedures have been completed, why did you come to find me?"
His lips moved, as if he wanted to say something, but before he could say anything, the phone rang again. He bent down to take a look, and two words flashed on the screen: Du Du. He didn't answer the phone. I looked at those two words flashing continuously, suddenly feeling strangely familiar. Over the past three years, I have seen these two words on his phone screen countless times. Countless times he picked up the phone and then turned around and walked away, leaving me alone standing there alone.
“Listen.” I said.
He looked up at me.
"She's definitely looking for you for something," I continued: "Listen."
He picked up the phone. Head The other line transmitted Tham Du Du's voice, accompanied by broken sobs coming from the receiver.
"Mr. Thoi Yen... I had an accident... at the hospital in the west of the city... I'm so scared... can you come..."
I stood still, a curtain of rain looking at him. His hand holding the phone tightened.
“Du Du, I——”
"Mr. Thoi Yen... I beg you... I'm alone..."
He looked up at me. Rainwater flowed down his cheeks. I looked at him, waiting for him to speak.
