Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Your Own Face
Six o'clock in the evening. Khuong family. As soon as I entered the door, I saw Khuong Van Van sitting on the sofa crying. My father, Khuong Thanh Hai, slammed his hand on the tea table.
"Khuong Nam So!"
"Do you still look like an older sister?"
Stepmother Lieu Van sat next to her, giving Khuong Van Van a tissue and calming her voice.
"Nam So."
"Van Van is still young, it's okay if you give in to your sister a little?"
I calmly changed my shoes.
"She's twenty-nine years old."
"Not little anymore."
Khuong Thanh Hai shouted angrily.
"At the company, I embarrassed him in front of so many people, it was like slapping dad in the face!"
I looked at him.
"Dad signed the request to fire me in the meeting minutes."
"Did you leave me any dignity at that time?"
Khuong Thanh Hai choked. Khuong Van Van immediately cried louder.
"Now that she has her brother-in-law's back, of course she no longer cares about her father."
Lieu Van sighed.
"If a woman is too strong, her marriage will not last long."
"My brother-in-law hid it from me for so many years."
"Who knows if there are other people outside?"
I looked at her.
"Your way of dividing others..."
"...still as old as ever."
Lieu Van's face immediately darkened.
"I just want the best for you."
"No need."
At that moment, the doorbell rang. The maid came to open the door. Pho Nghien Tu stood outside the door. In his hand is a gift box. Khuong Thanh Hai immediately stood up, his attitude changed so quickly that it was funny.
"Nghyan Tu is here."
"Come in quickly."
Pho Nghien Tu walked in and put down the gift box.
"Hello President Khuong."
Khuong Thanh Hai smiled extremely warmly.
"We're all one family."
"Call me dad."
Pho Nghien Tu glanced at me.
"Before Nam So agreed..."
"I won't call randomly."
The whole living room suddenly became quiet. Khuong Van Van's eyes were red.
"You can't just listen to one side of her."
Pho Nghien Tu calmly sat down.
"You just say it."
Khuong Van Van immediately regained her spirit.
"She intentionally humiliated me in front of everyone at the company."
"You still won't let me participate in a new brand project."
"She's just afraid that I'll do better than her."
Pho Nghien Tu asked calmly.
"What have you ever done on your own?"
Khuong Van Van immediately became speechless. He continued to ask.
"What was the profit of the new brand line last quarter?"
Khuong Van Van immediately looked to Khuong Thanh Hai for help. He coughed loudly.
"Van Van has just started working."
Pho Nghien Tu nodded slightly.
"So that means..."
"...she doesn't know."
Khuong Van Van's face turned red again. Lieu Van quickly spoke up.
"At home, don't talk like a company meeting."
I calmly replied.
"So let's talk about family."
I took out my phone. Open a recording. Khuong Van Van's voice immediately rang out in the living room.
"Sister, you're thirty-seven years old, it's normal for Van Hoa not to need you."
"Or you should give birth soon, don't always take up other people's places."
Khuong Thanh Hai's face immediately changed. Khuong Van Van jumped up.
"Are you recording me?"
I calmly replied.
"You talk so loudly."
"The phone just records itself."
Lieu Van pointed at me.
"How can you treat your sister like that?"
I asked back.
"It can treat me like that."
"So why can't I let everyone listen?"
Deputy Nghien Tu put down the tea cup.
"President Khuong."
"Whether Thanh Lam Investment Fund will continue to cooperate with Van Hoa or not..."
"...I will consult with Nam So."
Khuong Thanh Hai immediately turned to look at me.
"After all, we are family."
I laughed.
"Are we just family now?"
Khuong Van Van immediately raised her voice.
"Dad, don't beg her!"
"Van Hoa is not the only Thanh Lam Investment Fund willing to invest capital!"
Pho Nghien Tu spoke softly.
"That's right."
Khuong Van Van's eyes immediately lit up. But his next words left the whole room speechless.
"But..."
"Investment funds that can replace Thanh Lam's position..."
"...more than half, I'm familiar with."
Khuong Van Van was completely speechless. The smile on Khuong Thanh Hai's face finally couldn't be kept.
"Nghyan Tu..."
"Van Van is still young and doesn't understand things yet."
Pho Nghien Tu calmly replied:
"She doesn't understand."
"But I understand."
He took out a file from his briefcase.
"This is the record of Chairman Khuong's proposal to transfer Nam So's position."
"Tomorrow, Van Hoa will post an official announcement."
"If you still insist on placing all responsibility on Nam So..."
"...I will send this memo to the entire board."
Khuong Thanh Hai immediately stood up.
"Are you threatening me?"
I spoke first.
"Not a threat."
I looked straight at my father.
"Just reminding you something."
"Don't continue to use your father's name to pressure me anymore."
Khuong Thanh Hai glared at me.
"I'm your father!"
I slowly stood up.
"Because I'm your father..."
"...so you shouldn't take seven years of my heart and soul..."
"...to comfort someone else's daughter."
Lieu Van's face immediately turned pale. Khuong Van Van cried and screamed.
"Are you absolutely determined to destroy this house?"
I looked at her.
"This house..."
"...broken a long time ago."
"Just today..."
"...you guys just realized I don't want to keep pretending anymore."
Having finished speaking, I turned around and walked out. Pho Nghien Tu quietly followed. In the elevator. He asked softly.
"Are you okay?"
I shook my head.
"Not good."
"What can I do for you?"
"Don't say anything."
He immediately fell silent. A few seconds later. I suddenly spoke up.
"Give me your hand."
He was slightly stunned. I reached out and grabbed his wrist.
"Let me hold on for a bit."
He stood still. Don't say a word.
