Chapter 3 — 30 Years of Stolen Identity

“From that day on, I felt like I no longer had parents.”

To Phan's eyes widened and he fainted to the ground. It was taken to the hospital. The police told me to go home first and wait for notification to do a DNA test. My father followed the ambulance, my mother stayed behind, blocking me in front of the station gate.

“Welcome, let's talk a little.”

“There's nothing to say.”

“Just five minutes.” She held my hand tightly, with unusually strong force. “I beg you.”

She pulled me into the alley next to the police station. As soon as I entered, I saw my father was also there. He basically never got in the ambulance.

“Are you done performing?” I asked.

My father's face was gloomy:

“To Nghenh, do you have to make a scene at the police station and make the whole family lose face?”

“You guys will lose face.”

“Okay, okay.” He nodded. "Since I've torn my face off, I won't pretend anymore."

He lit a cigarette and took a deep breath.

"Chu Tieu Bao is To Phan's child. That year she became pregnant with the thug Chu Loi. Chu Loi gambled and got into debt and ran away. At that time Phan Phan was only twenty years old, still had to get married, and could not bring along an entangled child."

“So you hang the baby on my name?”

"Correct." My father breathes smoke. "Anyway, you can't give birth anymore. Isn't it good to have a child in your name and take care of you in the future?"

I laughed.

"Are you worried about me? So you stole my ID, forged my signature, and labeled me a thirteen-year-old son. Then this 'son' beat someone, you need to pay 500,000 yuan in compensation, so you forced me to sell the house?"

“Why do you keep that house?” My mother chimed in. "You can't give birth anymore. After you die, shouldn't your family be left to outsiders? It's better to give Tieu Bao, he's your biological nephew, the blood of the To family flows through him!"

“My house, I can give it to whoever I want.”

“For whom?” My father laughed coldly. "Give it to your boyfriend of two months? He knew you couldn't give birth, so he immediately broke up! To Nghenh, I tell you, in this world, besides your family, no one is sincere with you!"

“Family?” I looked at them. “What kind of family do you consider to be?”

My father threw the cigarette butt on the ground and trampled it.

"I'll be honest. You must pay the 500,000 yuan compensation. The school district house in the city center must be transferred to Tieu Bao's name. Only then will he be able to enter an important school and have a future in the future."

"Because you're his aunt! Because your last name is To!" My father shouted loudly. "The To family only has Tieu Bao as a son. You can't let the To family become extinct!"

“The ultimate is your business, not mine.” I said calmly. “I am no longer part of your family a long time ago.”

My mother suddenly rushed forward, grabbed my shoulders and shook me hard.

"To Nghenh! Why is your heart so cruel? We gave birth to you and raised you, so you repay us like that?!"

I pushed her away.

"You gave birth to me and raised me? For four years of college, I worked and paid for the tuition fees. I had to work and stay up for the deposit to buy a house. I stayed in the hospital for surgery, and I signed the papers myself. What can you give me when you give birth to me? Raise me until I'm eighteen, then suck my blood to feed To Phan?"

My father raised his hand to strike. I took a step back, dodging.

"Let's fight. After I finish beating you, I will have your injuries assessed and sue you for domestic violence."

My father's hand stiffened in midair. He was panting, his eyes bloodshot.

“To Nghenh, I ask you one last time: will you give me that house?"

“Don't give it.”

"Okay." He nodded. “So don't blame us for not being respectful.”

He took out a stack of papers from his pocket and threw them straight at me.

“The paperwork to transfer our name is ready. You sign your name, give your fingerprints, and this is over. If you don't sign…”

He stopped.

“We will go to your company to cause chaos, to your apartment complex to cause chaos, so that everyone knows that you are the kind of cruel woman who leaves her husband and children. Let me see if you can still work at a foreign company!”

I picked up the stack of papers from the ground. Turn a few pages. A copy of my real estate certificate, a copy of my ID, and a pre-filled home sale contract. Buyer: Chu Tieu Bao. The seller's signature section is left blank. But the authorized person's signature says my father's name.

“You guys even faked the power of attorney?” I asked.

“It's not fake.” my father said. “Your mother is your immediate relative, she can sign on your behalf. We asked the broker."

I raised my head to look at him.

"Dad, do you know how many years the penalty for falsifying documents to fraudulently appropriate real estate, especially large sums of money?"

My father's face changed.

“Who are you threatening?!”

“I'm not threatening you.” I tore the stack of papers in half and threw them into the trash can next to me. “I'm reminding you.”

I turned around to leave. My mother rushed forward and hugged my waist tightly.

“You can't go! If you don't agree today, I will die right here!”

She started hitting the wall with her head. At the beginning of the alley, someone peeked in to see the excitement. I raised my hand and pressed the red "emergency alarm" button at the nurse's station. The warning siren sounded, getting closer and closer. My mother was so scared that she let go.

“You… you called the police?!”

“The hospital's emergency alarm button is directly connected to the police station.” I said. “Every sentence you say will be recorded.”

My father's face turned pale, he pulled my mother and tried to run away. Two policemen ran into the alley.

“What's wrong?”

I point to them:

"They threatened me, wanted to forcibly take over my house, and also forged name transfer documents."

The policeman looked towards my father. My father quickly laughed:

"Misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding... we're family, we're just joking..."

“The papers are in the trash.” I said.

The police took the torn pieces of paper out of the trash and put them back together. My father panicked:

“Comrade police, it's really a misunderstanding… we just want our daughter to help a little…”

“Help but need to falsify documents?” The police frowned. “Everyone follow us to the station.”

When we arrived at the police station, the police separated us to take statements. I narrated the whole incident from beginning to end. From receiving the call at 3:00 a.m. to discovering that his civil status was forged, and then being forced by his parents to sell the house. The young female police officer finished writing the report and remained silent for a long time.

“Miss To, we have grasped your situation. We will soon arrange a paternity test. During this time, you should protect your personal assets.”

I nodded: Leaving the police station, I went straight to the Real Estate Management Department. The trading hall was crowded with people. I took the number, waited half an hour. When it was my turn, I showed my ID and home ownership certificate.

“I want to go through asset freeze procedures.”

The employee raised his head:

“Blockade?”

"Correct. I suspect someone is impersonating me and planning to transfer Illegal transfer of real estate. I request to register a complaint and suspend all transactions.”

The staff checks the documents, then checks the system.
