Chapter 3 — 6 Days to Clean Up Your Estate Then Divorce

Updated 10/08/2026 6 min read

I'm not joking, from my expression, my eyes to every word I say, I coldly affirm a truth that he cannot avoid. Chu Van Bac's face drained of blood little by little. He looked at me like a stranger, both scared and unbelievable.

“No… impossible…”

He muttered, walking unsteadily towards me, as if just getting closer could bring everything back to the way it was.

"Tieu Tinh, listen to me, I'm wrong about this, I didn't discuss it with you in advance, but we're not getting divorced, okay, put that petition away."

He raised his hand to reach for the agreement on the table, as if just hiding it would negate everything. I don't move. My mother-in-law was like an angry animal, rushing straight to grab the agreement and tearing it up right in front of me, shredded paper flying out like snow. The pieces of paper flew everywhere, falling on her distorted face, falling on his pale lips, and then silently falling into my lap.

"Our Chu family has nothing wrong with you. Ten years after you married here, we treated you like our own child, bought you a house, bought a car, and let you live happily."

“Now that your wings are stiff, they'll come back to bite you, do you still have a conscience?”

Her voice was so shrill that it seemed to scratch her eardrums. My father-in-law also shook his hands and pointed straight at me, his voice full of anger and contempt.

"You unreasonable thing, who are we adding people to this house for? Isn't it for you guys? If you don't appreciate it then you'll just ask for a divorce."

“Do you want the Chu family to become extinct?”

Every reproach, every curse. I've heard enough over the past ten years. In the past, because of him, I held back, telling myself that they were superiors, telling myself that as long as the family was peaceful, that would be enough. But now, I don't want to hold back anymore, not even a word. I stood up, walked to my daughter's door, gently knocked on the door, each movement was slow but decisive. The door opened, Niem Niem stuck her head out, her small eyes full of fear looking out. I bent down, put on my child's noise-canceling headphones, and my voice was as soft as the wind.

"Baby, come watch the cartoon, turn it up a bit, wait for me to finish processing it, then I'll come in with you."

The girl obediently nodded, closed the door, and personally isolated herself from the ugly noises outside. I stood up straight, turned around, facing the three faces in front of me, my eyes no longer showing any emotion.

“Are you done talking?”

My voice was calm and cold. My mother-in-law was stunned, clearly not expecting me to say that.

“What… what kind of attitude do you have?”

“I'll say it again.”

I looked straight at him, my eyes as sharp as a surgical blade, every word falling clearly.

“I only need Niem Niem, the rest of the house, car, company, money, I don't take anything.”

“Everything is left to the Chu family, to me, and to the younger brother you just received.”

My words were like a bomb exploding in the living room, leaving them all speechless in one breath. They thought I would cry, make a fuss, and fight for every penny, but they didn't expect me to be so decisive. Chu Van Bac staggered a step, only then did he truly understand that I was not angry, but actually leaving. His face revealed unconcealed panic for the first time.

“Tieu Tinh… why, you can't treat me like that, ten years of them me.”

“Ten years.”

I laughed, a light smile that was cold to the bone.

“From the moment you automatically let them bring an unrelated child into our house, from the moment you planned to use our money to raise it in exchange for peace of mind for your parents.”

“From the moment you agreed to sacrifice my life and my daughter's in exchange for the so-called inheritance, those ten years were already dead.”

“You were the one who killed it.”

My words, word by word, were like a thin blade chipping away the last layer of his dignity, not fast, not slow, but enough to hurt to the bone. Chu Van Bac's lips trembled, but he could not utter a single word, as if all words were dead and stuck in his throat. As for his parents, after a few seconds of being dumbfounded, their eyes glowed with a terrifying, greedy light.

"You said it yourself, the house, cars, and company all belong to Van Bac, you left empty-handed."

The mother-in-law's voice trembled with excitement, as if she had just picked up a bargain that fell from the sky.

“You can't go back on your word.”

Her father-in-law also immediately chimed in, his tone full of contempt and triumph.

"If you still have some self-awareness, you're good. If you leave my son, you're nothing. Get out of my sight."

They thought they had won, thought I was forced to the limit so I could only give up everything and leave in humiliation. Looking at their shamelessly proud faces, I felt so amused that I wanted to laugh out loud.

“That's right, I don't need anything.”

"Your assets now, open your phone and take a look, see how much is left in your account, is it enough to support your whole family?"

My voice was light, but every word that fell was as heavy as a stone hitting his heart. Chu Van Bac seemed to wake up and quickly pulled out his phone, his hands shaking so much that he entered the wrong password several times in a row. When he opened the banking app and saw the number appear on the screen, his whole body felt as if his soul had been drained from him.

“Where's the money, where's the company's money, where's the three hundred thousand down payment, and last month's profit, where's it all gone.”

He rushed forward, grabbed my shoulders and shook me wildly, as if he wanted to force me to return everything that had disappeared.

“Where did you take the money?”

I let him shake me, the corner of my lips still kept the cold smile.

“I put it where it should belong.”

"Don't you want to buy old age insurance for your parents? I also bought some adult insurance for my daughter."

“Part of the company's money was transferred as an advance payment to the supplier, which coincidentally was refunded to my personal account.”

"The rest I use to pay outstanding design and copyright fees, the recipient of the money is the consulting company that I control."

“I also sold the car in my name, all the cash flows were legally transferred to a trust.”

“The beneficiary is my daughter, Chu Niem Niem, the only beneficiary.”

I said each word clearly, not too fast or too slow, as if reading a pre-written verdict.
