Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — After Firing Me, My Husband Lost the 6 Billion Dollar Project!
“I laughed at myself,” I replied, “Laughing because I mistakenly thought you really wanted to make up.”
I walked closer to the dining table and picked up my bag.
"Co Canh Tham, you go sue. You sue me for violating trade secrets, then I will accuse you and Lam Nhuoc Khe of dispersing company assets. Guess what the court will pay more attention to?"
His face was cut without a drop of blood.
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Am I talking nonsense?” I took a photocopy of the document investigated by Tham Dao from my bag, threw it straight down on the table, "See for yourself. In the past year, you and Lam Nhuoc Khe smuggled 230 million yuan to Hong Kong. This money was siphoned from the account of the Co Group, the investors being ghost companies. Do you think if the Board of Directors knew about this, what would they think?"
Co Canh Tham grabbed the documents, his hands shaking.
“You investigate me?”
“I just want to clarify why I worked so hard for five years, and was finally fired for the ridiculous reason of 'not meeting KPI'.” I looked straight at him, "Now I understand. It's not that I didn't meet the requirements, but that I got in the way of dispersing your assets."
“No…” His voice trembled, “You misunderstood, that money was a legal investment…”
“Then go and explain to the Board of Directors.”
I picked up my bag, decisively turned around and left. From behind, Co Canh Tham's panicked voice rang out: "To Van! Stop!" I don't stop walking.
“Stop! If you dare show these things to anyone else, I will…”
He didn't have time to finish his sentence, because I walked out of the VIP room. The hallway was quiet, my high heels stepped on the thick carpet, not making a sound. The phone vibrates, it's a text message from Tham Dao: "Are you recording yet?" I texted back: “Yes.” She sent another message: "There's still fun behind the scenes. Lam Nhuoc Khe is also staying at this hotel, upstairs." I paused: “Upstairs?”
"Yes. She has rented a room and is waiting for your husband to come there."
I stood in the middle of the hallway, glancing toward the elevator. Upstairs is the hotel room. Lam Nhuoc Khe rented a room and waited for Co Canh Tham. In other words, the purpose of this meal was not to make peace, but to entice me to vomit the project. After I leave, Co Canh Tham will go upstairs to find Lam Nhuoc Khe to continue carrying out their plan. I walked out of the hotel. The sun outside was very bright, but my whole body was cold. Catching a taxi, I got in the car.
“Where are you going?” The driver asked.
“East of the city, Thuy Canh Uyen area.”
The car rolled away, I leaned back in the seat and closed my eyes. The tape recorder was still in his bag, recording all of Co Canh Tham's lies. From "I don't know" to "Lam Nhuoc Khe help me handle it", from "I want to start over" to "do you believe I will sue you". Every sentence, every word, is recorded clearly. The phone vibrated again, a message from Ha Tinh: "General To, the company registration application is being processed. In addition, the bank statement you sent, I asked a friend who specializes in financial crimes to look at it, he said this is clearly an act of money laundering. If we have a complete chain of evidence, it will be enough to put them away for a few years." I texted back: "Continue to investigate." Putting the phone away, I looked out the window. The car passed by the Co Group headquarters, building thirty floors with glass walls that sparkle in the sunlight. Inside it, lies my past. But that's not my future. The taxi stopped below the lobby of Thuy Canh Uyen apartment building, I paid and got out. Tham Dao was waiting for me at the door, holding two cans of beer.
“Recording okay.”
“What did he say?”
“Talks a lot.” I took the can of beer, opened it and took a sip, "It's enough to make them lose sleep for days."
Tham Dao looked at me: "So what are you going to do next?" I leaned against the wall, looking up at the sky. The sky is very blue, not a single cloud.
“Wait for what?”
"Wait until they show their fox tail. Wait until they transfer more money out. Wait until they have gathered enough evidence, then save the last catch."
Tham Dao nodded: "So where are you going now?" I stopped. That's right, which house? Is the house between me and Co Canh Tham still considered a house?
“Go to my mother's house.”
Tham Dao patted my shoulder: "Okay. Call me if there's anything." I took another taxi and read my mother's home address. The car drove for about half an hour to reach the old town. My mother lives in an old dormitory, the house is not big but very cozy. I went upstairs and knocked on the door. Mom opened the door, saw me and was a little surprised: "Why are you home at this hour? It's during work hours?" I smiled: "Mom, I crave the sweet and sour fried ribs you made." Mom looked at my face, didn't ask any more questions, just said: "Come in, I'll do it for you." I walked into the house, sat down on the sofa, absentmindedly watching the news on TV. The house is still the old house, the mother is still a devoted mother. It's just me, no longer the old me. The phone vibrated loudly.
