Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — Bought the wrong Bac Canh Vuong
Hac Da turned his head to look at me. Perhaps this was the first time someone told him that there was no need to try hard. He was silent for a moment. Then he picked me up and placed me on the wooden box behind him.
“Sit still.”
“Okay.”
I obediently shrink back. The next second, he tore off the remaining chain on his wrist. The guards couldn't even get close. Hac Da acted very quickly. But he didn't take their lives, just knocked them unconscious and threw them aside. When the last person fell, Lac Nhan finally ran over. Seeing Hac Da, his eyes turned red and he knelt down on one knee.
“Your Highness.”
Hac Da didn't pay attention to him. He turned around, walked in front of me and picked me up from the wooden box.
“Are you hurt?”
“The palm is a little torn.”
He lowered his head and saw the scratches on my hand, his face immediately darkened. I quickly hid my hands behind my back.
“It doesn't hurt anymore.”
Obviously Hac Da doesn't believe it. But he himself was injured more seriously. When leaving the wine cellar, it started to rain outside. Lac Nhan held an umbrella for Hac Da. But Hac Da pushed the umbrella towards me. There were no wounds on my body, just muddy clothes. His whole body was covered in blood, his face was terrifyingly pale. I pushed the umbrella back. Hac Da pushed again. Back and forth twice, in the end, Lac Nhan couldn't bear it.
“Your Highness, this umbrella is very large.”
“Can cover two people.”
Hac Da and I were silent at the same time. Finally, he pulled me to his side. The umbrella covers both of us. The tail curled around from under the cloak, wrapping tightly around my wrist. The road back to the citadel is very long. Hac Da was exhausted, leaned against the side of the carriage and fell asleep. Even when sleeping, his tail still doesn't let go of me. The system appears again. 【The life status of the mission target has stabilized again.】 【Destiny deviation degree: ninety-seven percent.】 I finally breathed a sigh of relief. The system was silent for a moment. 【Host.】 【You have enough money to change your life, why do you still risk saving him?】 I bowed my head to look at Hac Da. He still wears the scarf I gave him around his neck. It was stained with blood.
“Because he was waiting for me.”
【Didn't he already arrange your life for you?】
“Not the same.”
I held his cold fingers.
“He fixed the roof for me and bought the store.”
“But if he wasn't there, when he got home there would be no one left.”
The system doesn't speak anymore. Horse carriage driving on muddy road. Maybe Hac Da heard something. His ears moved slightly. The tail wrapped around my wrist tightened a little more.

Hac Da was in a coma for two days. The doctor said he was seriously injured and that he was lucky to be able to return alive. I kept watch by the bed, not daring to go far. The bookstore owner knew about it and told me he didn't need to come to work for the time being. Every day the landlady brings a bowl of soup. She said with her mouth that she cooked too much, but every time she gave the bowl with the most meat to Hac Da. Lac Nhan also kept watch downstairs. The beastmen of the old sect that he led surrounded the entire alley, making the people around them so scared that they didn't dare to speak loudly on the street. But the landlady was not afraid at all. She put her hands on her hips and chased all the people blocking the door to the end of the alley.
“This is where people live, not your barracks.”
The tall beastmen looked at each other. Finally, he obediently retreated away. Day morning Third, Hac Da finally woke up. I lay on my stomach next to the bed, still holding his tail in my hand. Feeling it move slightly, I immediately opened my eyes.
“Are you awake?”
Hac Da's face was still pale. He looked at me for a long time, as if he was confirming whether the person in front of him was a dream or not. I quickly touched his forehead.
“No more fever.”
The wrist was suddenly grabbed again. Hac Da pressed my hand on his cheek.
“Tang Ninh, you really came.”
I'm a bit unhappy.
"I took you home, of course it's true."
Hach Da did not explain. He just closed his eyes, his fingers still did not let go. A moment later, I remembered what the doctor had told me.
“You have to drink water, you have to take medicine.”
Hach Da frowned.
“It's okay to eat porridge first.”
His eyebrows furrowed even tighter. Maybe he remembers the bowl of porridge he cooked when I was sick.
“It's not me who cooks.”
I immediately explained.
“The landlady cooks, very delicious.”
At this time, Hac Da sat up. The wounds on his body were too many. Just by moving a little hard, cold sweat broke out on my forehead. I intend to help you. But Hac Da looked at my hand first.
“Where is the wound?”
“What wound?”
“The palm of the hand.”
I spread my hands for him to see. It was only scratched a little while crawling through the wine cellar, but was soon covered with scabs.
“It's okay.”
Hac Da still looked. I had to move my hand forward a little more.
“It really doesn't hurt.”
He bowed his head, gently touching his lips to the healed wound. Very light. My fingers curled up. Hac Da also stopped. His ears were exposed among his tangled hair, slowly becoming stiff. None of us spoke up. Suddenly there was a cough outside the door. Lac Nhan stood at the door, looking slightly embarrassed.
“Your Highness.”
Hac Da coldly raised his eyes.
“What?”
“Bac Canh has a letter.”
Lac Nhan brought a secret letter. The rebel army knew that Hac Da was still alive and began to purge the old Northern Region. Those who stayed couldn't hold out for too long. Hac Da must return quickly. I sat by the bed, bowed my head and arranged the medicine bag for him. This time, no one said he would return after three days. From here to Bac Canh, the road is far away. Waiting for him to recuperate, quell the rebellion, and deal with the remaining matters, I don't know how long it will take. Lac Nhan looked at me.
“Miss Tang Ninh can come with us.”
My movements stopped. Hac Da also looked at me. I instinctively asked:
“Does Bac Canh have a bookstore?”
Lac Nhan was stunned.
“Probably yes.”
“Does that person need to write a letter?”
“There are many beastmen who are not fluent in human writing.”
I'm a little reassured. As long as you can work, you won't starve. But Hac Da suddenly said:
“You don't need to work.”
I shook my head.
“That would be very boring, besides I like writing letters to help others.”
There was someone who was illiterate and had to travel a long way to the bookstore to ask me to write a peace note to his relatives. There are also people who save money for a long time, just to let people far away know that they have found a job and are living a good life. I like the way they look when they receive the letter. Hac Da does not advise anymore. He just said:
“Okay.”
“You can do whatever you want.”
I bowed my head and thought for a moment.
“Then I have to bring honey.”
Hac Da's tail moved slightly.
"And the egg the landlady gave me."
“Eggs will spoil.”
“So eat on the road.”
Lac Nhan stood at the door, seemingly unable to hold back his laughter. Hac Da calmly glanced luxurious. He immediately bowed his head.
“Your subordinates go prepare the carriage.”

Hac Da recuperated for half a month. On the day of departure, many people from the old neighborhood came to see them off. The bookstore owner gave me a new set of pens. The doctor stuffed me with two large bags of medicine and told Hac Da not to open the wound again. The restaurant owner did not come. The landlady stood at the beginning of the alley, holding a very large cloth bag. Inside were bread, dried meat and a small jar of pickles. I looked at her, suddenly reluctant to leave.
“I will return later.”
“That's best.”
She stuffed a cloth bag for me.
“Don't come to Bac Canh and forget to pay rent.”
I was stunned.
“But I don't live here anymore.”
“The room at the back of the store, I'll keep it for you.”
She turned away.
“If one day you two quarrel, you must have a place to return to.”
Hach Da stood behind me. His ears slowly pressed down. Maybe he felt we wouldn't quarrel. But he didn't object, just accepted the cloth bag.
“We will close.”
