Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — Dear Wife, Do You Remember Me?
"Phuong Tinh will cry, make noise, and gossip to your mother."
“At that point, my mother started making a fuss at me, and I was stuck in the middle.”
He looked at me.
“So what should I do?”
“Let her no longer be able to act on her own.”
“What is it?”
“Next week the Administration Department has a quarterly report, right?”
“Yes.”
“Let her give the main presentation.”
He frowned.
“She doesn't know anything.”
“That's right. She doesn't know anything.”
“Joined the company for three weeks, didn't produce a single real product.”
“Put her on the podium and she won't be able to form a single word.”
“The whole company will look at it. Your mother's dignity will not be maintained either.”
"At that time, I pulled out this file search history and combined it to submit to the board of directors."
"So it's not that you fired her, it's that she herself is incompetent."
Chu Dien leaned back in his chair. Look at me for a while.
“To Niem.”
“Hmm?”
“When did you become this powerful?”
“I was bullied at my old company for three years, so I somehow learned some survival skills.”
He suddenly burst out laughing.
“Since childhood, I have seen you as smart.”
“Less nonsense.”
I stood up to leave.
“To Niem.”
“What else?”
“This is over, I owe you an answer.”
I don't care about you. Step out of the room. The moment the elevator door closed, I leaned my back against the wall. Heart pounding. It's not because of Phuong Tinh's story. It's because of the way he looked at me just now. Very serious. Very steadfast. It's like he's decided something, no one can change it. The phone vibrates. It's you.
“No matter the outcome, I'm on your side.”
I put the phone in my pocket. Take a deep breath. Monday next week. Quarterly report. Time to put the net away. 10 Monday. Quarterly report. The meeting room was packed with people. Heads of departments, several members of the board of directors, and even Chu Dien. Phuong Tinh sat in the second row. Wearing a light blue shirt, hair tied neatly. Holding a notebook, looking very confident. The Administrative Director gave a few opening statements, then began calling names.
“Phuong Tinh, please present the plan to optimize the logistics of the Administration Department this quarter.”
Phuong Tinh was stunned. She glanced at me. Looking at Chu Dien again. Then stand up and walk in front of the projector screen.
“Yes, then let me give you a quick report…”
She opened the PPT file. The first page is the title. The second page is the table of contents. Starting from the third page—— Empty. She clicked to turn the page. The fourth page is also blank. The fifth page has a table stuck on it, but the figures don't match at all. The meeting room fell silent for a few seconds. There began to be whispers. The smile on Phuong Tinh's face stiffened.
“This… I'm still compiling the data, maybe it's the wrong file——”
The Administrative Director frowned: "Phuong Tinh, this report was informed to you last Wednesday."
“Yes, I prepared, but——”
“But so what?”
She opened her mouth, but no words came out. I sat quietly in the corner. Chu Dien also sat still. Phuong Tinh stood frozen on the podium for three minutes. Saying over and over again just a few sentences "I will add later", "Data needs to be verified". Uncle Trieu in the board of directors sat in the front row, his face becoming more and more unsightly. It was he who approved Phuong Tinh's employment. Now Phuong Tinh again submitted a blank paper right in front of the entire company. Where does his dignity go? The report ended, the Administrative Director called Phuong Tinh into the room. The door is closed. But the colleague at the next desk said he heard crying. At two o'clock in the afternoon, Chu Dien sent a file to the senior management team. It's Phuong Tinh's system access log. Look up the records of five employees.
