As she spoke, she shoved the glass of wine into my hand.

"It's not reasonable for you to be this late. Hurry up and ask for wine and apologize to the superiors."

Without time for me to react, she pulled me in front of a woman.

"This is Minh Trach's aunt, and in the future it will also be your aunt. Today is the happy day of your marriage registration. The first time we meet, don't you plan to send lucky money envelopes?"

I was already full of anger. Hearing her words, I couldn't help but frown.

"She's obviously the superior, so why do you have to send an envelope to her when it's my turn to get married?"

“This girl, how can she be so narrow-minded!”

Mother Manh pouted with displeasure and looked at me with reproachful eyes.

"This is the custom in our hometown. After all, I am a city girl and have been pampered since I was young, so I don't understand these rules, but people often say 'joining a family depends on the customs', since you have married into the Manh family, you have to learn to get used to these things!"

Looking at me as the elder in her family, I just find it funny. Minh Trach and I haven't even registered our marriage yet and she's already hastily educating me like this? I laughed coldly and threw the glass of wine down on the table.

“I don't know what etiquette is, and I have no intention of giving envelopes to strangers like that!”

As soon as he finished speaking, the whole room suddenly fell silent. Immediately afterwards, a series of scolding sounds rang out, and the atmosphere of a luxury hotel suddenly turned into a toadstool market.

"What is this brat talking about? We are all relatives of the Manh family!"

"Hong Ha, what kind of daughter-in-law is your son marrying? He doesn't understand any manners, you have to teach him right now, otherwise he will cause chaos in the whole family!"

"City girls are really good, aren't they? If I were her mother-in-law, I would be polite if I were her mother-in-law!"

Hearing those harsh words, I unconsciously turned to look towards the door, ready to run away at any moment.

“That's enough!”

At that moment, Manh Minh Trach suddenly slammed the table hard. Everyone immediately fell silent. Looking at him walking towards me with a dark face, in that moment, I almost thought he would take my side. But his next sentence crushed all my hopes:

"Quan Lo, don't be arbitrary anymore. These are all my relatives, and in the future they will also be your family. Is it that difficult to ask me to give you an envelope?"

I looked into his eyes full of suppressed anger and immediately calmed down. I'm so stupid, what else do I expect from this man? I looked at him with eyes full of disappointment.

"Manh Minh Trach, do you still want to marry me?"

His expression changed slightly, then he pulled me aside, hastily and lowered his voice:

"Lo Lo, my mother doesn't insist that you give me money, as long as you agree to lower the bride price to twenty thousand, then the deducted amount will be included in it, you don't need to pay any more."

Circling around the three kingdoms, in the end it was just to pressure me about the bride price. I laughed coldly in my heart but my face didn't change color, I turned my head to look straight into Manh Minh Trach's eyes.

“Are you sure you want to include all your love money in your bride price?”

He hesitated a bit then nodded in confirmation. I smiled.

“Okay, then do as I say.”

Hearing me say that, he immediately smiled brightly and pulled me to sit down chair.

"I've talked about the Lo Lo envelope, wait until the party is over and the marriage registration is done and we'll make it up to everyone. Everyone, please feel free to eat and drink!"

As soon as the words ended, the atmosphere became bustling again. Seeing that the meal was about to run out, the husband's parents ordered another table full of expensive dishes. I silently shook my head. I remember the first time we met Manh Minh Trach's parents, his mother just opened her mouth and said she liked the jade bracelet I had worn for many years, and his father was even more outrageous, demanding that we buy him a car worth over 100,000 before the wedding so he could drive home to show off. At first I did not agree, but Manh Minh Trach tried to persuade:

"Lo Lo, my parents are from a poor country, my mother has never seen a jade necklace like you wear in her whole life. She worked hard to raise me, can I give it to her this time? At best, after we get married, I'll buy you a nicer one."

I couldn't stand his insistence, and this was the first time I met my husband's family. I didn't want to be known for being stingy, so I gritted my teeth and gave that precious bracelet to his mother. I thought that by doing so, the Manh family would treat me sincerely, but who would have thought that they are inherently greedy to the core! Initially, we didn't plan to hold a wedding so early, but Manh Minh Trach's father insisted on holding a real wedding in the countryside before Tet, and asked me to book the biggest hotel in town. The request was made so suddenly that my relatives did not have time to respond. Finally, Manh Minh Trach himself suggested:

"Lo Lo, how about we organize two separate events? Before Tet, make one in my hometown, after Tet, we invite your relatives to make another meal?"

I once again gave in, not wanting him to be embarrassed.
