Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — Diary of Someone Who Shouldn't Exist
In the midst of whispers, curses and chaos, Mo Uyen - a woman who was always proud and strong - suddenly stood up and used all her strength to push away the people surrounding the hospital bed. “No photos allowed!” She bit her lip, holding her chest with one hand, red blood oozing from the wound, but her eyes were still sharp: "Mo Than! Quickly kick all the reporters out!" Mo Than - my uncle - immediately stepped forward, his voice deep and hoarse with anger, signaling the security guard to throw the journalists out of the room. My mother turned back, her lips pale, her breathing heavy. But she was still determined, her eyes flashing with fierce protection: "Don't anyone slander my daughter!" “Nien Niem is just… just a little rebellious!” She tried to suppress the pain, leaning on the bed, her voice hoarse and weak: "Everyone... get away... let her go." Then she turned to me, her gaze infinitely gentle. In those eyes, tears silently flowed down, drop by drop falling on the white sheet, but her voice was as soft as the wind, trembling and pleading: "Nim Niem... don't hurt yourself." “I beg you…” “Where do you want to go… I… I will agree to everything…” The whole hospital room was silent. Everyone's eyes were on me, waiting for me to let go of the needle, but I didn't say a word. My hand holding the needle was shaking slightly, my steps were wobbly, I limped out of the hospital room, along the cold hallway, and then left the hospital. The night wind brought cold air to my skin. I passed by an abandoned building nearby. Before I could react, a hand suddenly grabbed me from the darkness and pulled me inside. “Ah!” My back collided with the moldy wall, the sound echoed in the empty space. A cold blade pressed tightly against my neck, a cold feeling pierced my skin. In the dim light, I recognized the haggard, crazy face in front of me - Truong Vy. The woman from the past... was beaten by my father to the point of having a miscarriage. Her hair was messy, her eyes were red as blood, and her rapid breathing carried the pungent smell of cigarettes. She yanked me away and dragged me straight to the rooftop. The wind whistled, blowing her messy hair. Truong Vy held the knife tightly to my neck, her voice was hoarse but fierce, almost screaming: "Call Mo Uyen!" “Tell her to bring ten million here!” “If not, I will push you down from here!” My breath hitched, my heart beat wildly, but my eyes remained cold. I slowly pulled the phone out of my pocket, staring at the screen that lit up in the dark... Then "crack!" — I threw it straight onto the cement floor. The phone shattered into pieces, the crisp sound echoed on the empty rooftop. I pursed my lips tightly, my voice was quiet but as sharp as a knife: "I'd rather die... and not call her." Truong Vy was stunned, her expression slightly blank. Right after that, she suddenly burst out laughing in a shrill, hoarse way, her laughter echoing in the empty rooftop: "Why?" “She treats you so well… so well that no one can compare…” “And yet you… why do you hate her so much?!” Her voice was dry, both angry and confused, mixed with unspeakable pain. At this moment, police sirens sounded from afar, getting closer and closer. Flashing red and blue lights pierced the darkness, illuminating the entire abandoned building. In just a moment, the police and reporters were surrounded below, cameras, loudspeakers, chaotic whispers. mixed together. I frowned slightly. Obviously no one was watching this place... There couldn't be any witnesses, so who called the police? Truong Vy also realized this, her whole body tensed, her hand tightened on the knife, screaming, her voice hoarse and full of tension: "No one can come close!" “Call that beast Lam Kien Quoc here!” “Use him to exchange people!” I immediately raised my head, my voice was hoarse but decisive, almost unconsciously blurting out: "I don't agree!"{Read full page on page Van ha loves you} Truong Vy looked at me, her eyes were bloodshot, her expression unbelievable: "Are you... not afraid of death?!" Outside, the police loudspeaker rang out, his voice calm but carrying urgency: "Tham Niem! You have to calm down!" But I didn't reply. My fingertips trembled, I looked at Truong Vy, my voice was low but clear: "If the condition to change my life... is for me to return to her..." "Then I would rather... die here right now." At that moment, my mother appeared in sight. She walked out from the crowd, her face pale, her hair disheveled by the night wind. Her chest was covered with gauze, but the white bandage was soaked in blood, dark red in patches. Every step she took left a smear of blood on the ground. Hearing my words, her body trembled strongly, stumbling and almost falling. My uncle quickly caught me, but she still tried to stand firm, raised her head, and looked towards the rooftop where I was being held at knifepoint. She opened her mouth, her voice hoarse, trembling to the point of sobbing, despair filling every syllable: "Nim Niem..." "I... tell mom..." "Why?" “Why do you hate me so much…?” “Did mom do something wrong?” “You tell me… I will fix…” “I will change everything… everything…” Her voice choked, the end of the sentence seemed to break. My uncle couldn't hold back anymore, turned to look at me, roared, his voice full of anger and helplessness: "Tham Niem! Did you hear that?!" “My mother risked her life for me!” “Do you still want to corner her to death?!” “You… you really have no heart!” Downstairs, the crowd of reporters, viewers, and gossipers began to make noise like a marketplace. “Oh my god… this girl is crazy!” "To be loved by your mother like that but still hate her, what an ungrateful thing!" "It's really Lam Kien Quoc's daughter! It's nothing!" “A child like this, whether or not you have a child makes no difference!” The scolding, crying, screaming from all four directions was like a storm engulfing me. The night wind whipped my face, cold to the bone, but my heart... was empty, no feeling, no pain, no hatred... just a dark space. "How cruel! Why in the world is there a girl like this?!" "General Manager Mo is so pitiful! Hurry up and agree with me, you bad boy!" "This girl is a devil! Is her heart made of stone?!" Screams and curses from the crowd echoed throughout the abandoned building. Each sentence, each word is like a sharp knife digging deep into the ear. I stood there, calmly looking at all the angry faces, drenched in sweat and tears. Then — I burst out laughing. A cold smile, light as the wind, but causing the chaotic sounds around to suddenly quiet down for a beat. I lifted my wrist, glanced at the watch face, the second hand just drifted to the position I had been waiting for a long time. The time… has come. “You guys…” — I raised my head, my voice was quiet but resonant — “Haven't you always wanted to know why I chose my father and not my mother?” The wind blew across the terrace, blowing her messy hair in front of her face Truong Vy grabbed her neck, causing a thin trail of blood to flow down her skin. But I didn't shy away, on the contrary... I straightened my back, raised my head, and looked straight towards the approaching cameras. "Okay." “Then I will tell you!” I took a deep breath, my eyes were as cold as ice, my voice echoed clearly: "I'll tell you - why!" In that moment, a "bang" tore through the air. I felt a cold blast through my chest. The sound of the heart beating was chaotic, the lungs seemed to be blocked, and each rapid breath was torn to pieces. Before my eyes, Truong Vy opened her eyes wide, terrified and unable to believe it. The knife in her hand fell to the concrete floor with a cold, crisp clang. At the same time, a bright red streak of blood bloomed in the middle of her forehead. Her body fell to the ground, her eyes still filled with resentment that had not yet been expressed. I staggered back, my chest was burning, my vision was blurry. Before I lost consciousness, the last image I saw was — Mom. She rushed towards me, her eyes glowing red, her face distorted with fear, as she ran and screamed: "Nim Niem! Niem Niem!" When I woke up, I found myself lying in a brightly lit VIP hospital room with a strong smell of disinfectant. The ceiling is pure white, the curtains are heavy, and outside the window is the bright but distant afternoon light. By the door, two bodyguards stood at attention, their eyes cold, their hands loosely placed on the guns at their hips. My uncle stood there, his voice low, softly saying: "Mom arranged it." “She won't let anyone hurt you again.” I tilted my head, out of the corner of my eye I caught a brand new smoke detector mounted on the ceiling in the corner of the wall. The small, flashing blue light was calm but... filled with suffocation. I looked at it, without blinking, without moving, I don't know how much time passed. "Nim Niem! I'm awake!" A familiar voice rang out, choked and trembling. The door opened, Mo Uyen rushed forward, hugged me, her whole body trembling. Her eyes were red, dark circles were deep, but the bottom of her eyes were filled with relief and joy: "It's okay... I'm okay again..." "The police have shot and killed the murderer, Niem Niem, you're safe..."
