Chapter 5
Chapter 5 — Diary of Someone Who Shouldn't Exist
Having said that, he quickly walked over, a forced, "gentle" smile appeared on his face, holding out his hand: "Nim Niem, don't be afraid." “Dad came… to take me home.”
“Don't touch it!” The voices of Mo Uyen and Mo Than exploded at the same time in the hospital room. At that moment, several bodyguards immediately rushed forward, standing in a line in front of the hospital bed, their hands on their weapons, their eyes extremely tense. The atmosphere seemed to be strangled by an invisible hand, leaving only the sound of my heart pounding in my ears.
I looked at the scene in front of me, all the arguments, threats, fights, pretense of love... like a ridiculous comedy. Every nerve was stretched to the limit, leaving only an empty buzzing sound in his head. Tired. The whole world, one by one, is tearing me to pieces. I took a deep breath and forcefully threw off the blanket. Blood leaked from the needle, but I didn't care. I quickly pulled out the tube, got out of bed, my bare feet touching the cold tile floor. The whole room was silent, all eyes were on me, but no one stopped me - because they couldn't predict what I would do next. I walked step by step slowly, with a terrifying calmness, until I stood in front of the window. My hand placed on the glass frame, "click" - the window opened. A cold wind rushed in, blew open the curtains, making everyone in the room simultaneously hold their breath. Eighteenth floor. In the distance were car horns and bright city lights, but below was a dark abyss. I turned my head, my eyes glanced over each face - mother, uncle, Lam Kien Quoc, bodyguards, nurses, doctors, reporters... All were like puppets in a play in which I had never been cast. The corners of my lips curled up slightly, my voice was calm and cold: "You guys..." "You all want me, right?" The whole room was silent, the only sound was the howling wind blowing through the window. I nodded slightly, my eyes were empty, I curled my lips slightly: "Okay." I took a step back, standing close to the edge of the window, the light of the streetlight illuminating my pale white face. My voice rang out, each word clear: “Which one of you…” “Jump down from here first.” I stopped, looked straight into my mother's eyes: "I will follow that person." In the hospital room, there was a moment of suffocating silence. Everyone — no one dared to move. My mother's face was pale, so white that there wasn't even a drop of blood left. Her voice trembled, hoarse as if broken: "Nim Niem... don't do anything foolish... Come back here quickly with mom!" Lam Kien Quoc stood to the side, his face pale, his legs shaking as if he was about to collapse: "Nim Niem! Calm down! If there's anything... if there's anything, say it slowly!" Mo Chen reacted the fastest. He raised his hand to signal the bodyguards not to act rashly, and at the same time slowly walked closer to me, his voice was low and calm: "Nim Niem... don't get excited." “We… won't force you anymore.” “Whoever you want to go with… is fine… But I… come down here first, okay?” I looked at him, my eyes calm, the corners of my lips curled up in a faint smile. "It's late." I turned around and stepped out the window with one foot. “Ah——!” A pitiful scream rang out. My mother instinctively rushed towards me, but her weak body couldn't stand it, her whole body collapsed to the floor. "Older sister!" Mo Than and several bodyguards rushed forward in panic, quickly picked her up, and placed her on the bed. In that chaotic moment, Lam Kien Quoc was like a mouse slipped through the gap, gingerly avoiding all eyes, and secretly left the room. He ran away. My uncle placed his mother neatly on the hospital bed, then turned his head to look at me. His eyes were red, his veins were prominent, his voice almost screamed: "Tham Niem! Are you satisfied now?!" “You drove your sister crazy!” I quietly withdrew my legs, curled myself inside, and pulled the window shut tightly. The night wind outside was still howling, but the room suddenly became dead silent. I turned around, took heavy steps towards the bed, then sat down, my voice was low, slightly hoarse but each word was clear: "I just want... to let everyone understand one thing." I raised my head, my eyes as calm as a calm lake: "My life... belongs only to me." I pulled the blanket up, lay down on the bed, and closed my eyes. In that moment, no one dared to open their mouth, the room was so quiet that you could clearly hear the sound of a heartbeat. At this moment, a nurse quickly walked in, holding a syringe. Her voice was soft but urgent: "Mr. Mo, the doctor said the patient is too excited... needs a sedative injection." Mo Than stood next to me, looking at me for a long time, his eyes were cold and unpredictable. Finally, he nodded slightly: "Inject." After the drug was injected, the world seemed to sink into a hazy layer of fog. Each vague sound gradually faded away, I fell into a heavy, but... not peaceful sleep. When I woke up, Mo Uyen had woken up before me. But… she is no longer the same. Her eyes softened, her gaze carried something deep and cold, no longer trembling and weak like before. Her pale lips curled slightly, as if hiding pain, but the bottom of her eyes sparkled with cold determination. My mother no longer screams at me. No more questioning, no more crying, no more gut-wrenching pleas. She just sat quietly next to me, peeling apples into thin slices, feeding me spoonfuls of water. Each movement is so soft, slow, and calm that it makes people scared. Her eyes... were as empty and sad as a deep lake surface, without any ripples, but made the person across from her not dare to breathe loudly. But outside the hospital room, the security force doubled. Two newly assigned bodyguards stood at attention at the door, their eyes like sharp knives. On the ceiling, the camera disguised as a smoke detector still flashed a dim red light. A light, cold blink... like invisible eyes following me every second of every minute. I get it. My mother did not give up. She just changed her method. A method... softer, but even more suffocating. I know, I have to find a way out. And the only way… is through Mo Than — my uncle. That night, while my mother went into the bathroom, I quickly took out the spare phone hidden under the pillow. With my fingers shaking slightly, I quickly composed the message: 【Help me look up someone —— Mo Tu.】 As soon as the message was sent, "click" — the hospital room door was pushed open. My mother stood right at the door. In her hand... she held my main phone. She didn't say anything right away. The face is pale white, the eyes are deep, without any emotion. There was only a cold silence spreading out, covering the whole room. “Who are you texting?” Her voice was light. So light that it was like asking about the weather, but it made every bone and marrow in my bones feel cold. I pursed my lips, tried to control my breathing, and immediately stuffed my spare phone under the pillow. "Nobody." She walked in. The footsteps were slow, the sound of shoes scraping on the tile floor was terrifyingly clear. Every step... seemed to be pressing directly into my chest. “Nien Niem…” “You… lied to me again.” She stood close to the bed, bent down, her eyes were shadowy, like darkness covering my vision. Next, a sudden movement — “Phew!” She yanked the pillow out, threw it on the floor, and turned it over. Spare phone… rolls out. Space, for a moment, froze. I could only hear the sound of my heart beating, each beat heavy and painful to the core. Mom's eyes stopped on the phone, not angry, not screaming, not crying. Only a faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips — a smile colder than a knife. The phone's screen was still lit right in front of her eyes. My mother bent down and picked it up, her fingers shaking slightly. The light from the screen reflected on her face, pale under the hospital lights. She saw the message I sent you —— 【Help me look up someone —— Mo Tu】 I waited... waited for her to get angry, waited for her ear-piercing scream, waited for her face to contort in anger. But no. She never changed color. No red eyes, no trembling, no anger. She just froze. An absolute emptiness descended. It was as if the whole world around was suddenly drained of sound, light, and breath. The phone fell from her hand with a "bang" sound, hit the cold floor, and the screen broke at one corner. But she... didn't realize it. Her eyes slowly, very slowly, changed. That look... no longer looked at me like a girl. It's not the same as looking at the enemy. It's like... going through me, looking at someone else. Someone on the other side of memory. Her lips trembled slightly, spitting out a name, her voice was a whisper, vague as if she were delirious: "Tu Tu..." The call was soft to the point of breaking, gentle to the bone, and brought with it a hysteria that sent cold chills down my spine. The corner of her lips raised a strange curve, both gentle and strange: "So... you remember." She slowly reached out, her fingers trembling slightly, gently stroking my hair. Not hitting, not holding tight, not tying up. It was a touch... so gentle it was terrifying. “Your hair is a mess, Tu Tu.” “In the past… I hated having messy hair the most.” She stood straight, turned her head to look around the room, her eyes searching for something in another world: "Where is the comb...?" “I remember clearly that you like that apricot wood comb the most.” She whispered, bent down, and used her fingertips to clumsily stroke each strand of my hair, her movements were slow and gentle, like cradling a precious item. "Mom, let me brush your hair into the style you like..." "There are two small braids on both sides, you say they look like butterfly wings..."
