Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Farewell Nam Thanh
“Lin Ninh, can you not go to closed training?”
My steps stopped. His voice was hoarse.
“Chu Nhien told me.”
“Three years, almost no contact.”
“You can't just leave.”
I turned around.
“Why not?”
“Our four-year relationship, are you saying it's cut and cut?”
I often thought so before. We were in a long-distance relationship for four years, from college to work, from Nam Thanh to Bac Thanh, how could I easily give up. But Tham Viet Trinh gave up very early. You just didn't tell me.
“Tham Viet Trinh.”
I looked at him.
“In these four years of long distance relationship, every time I wanted to go to Nam Thanh, you told me not to work hard.”
"I thought you felt sorry for me."
“Now that I know, I'm afraid you'll find her.”
He quickly said: "No..."
“Don't deny it.”
I interrupted him.
“Don't deny it anymore.”
Tham Viet Trinh closed his eyes, almost begging and said:
“I can make it up to you.”
I shook my head.
“No need.”
“I have to go report my name.”
On the day of registration, Nam Thanh had a storm. Chu Nhien took me to the meeting point. The base's car was parked on the side of the road, its body was dark blue, and its windows were covered with one-way film. I deleted and blocked Tham Viet Trinh in one go. After doing these things, I was not in as much pain as I imagined. Chu Nhien gave me my luggage.
“Go inside, train well.”
I nodded. She hugged me.
“Don't turn around.”
I laughed a little.
“I know.”
Just as he finished speaking, the sound of sudden braking was heard from behind. Tham Viet Trinh stepped down from the taxi, the rain quickly wetting his shoulders. He ran in front of me, breathing very erratically.
“Lam Ninh.”
I looked at him. In his hand he held a ring box. That ring is different from the one I bought. He opened the box, the diamond ring inside flashed in the rain.
“I bought a ring.”
“We get married.”
Chu Nhien was so angry that he burst out laughing.
"Doctor Tham, last night you just went to check with your child's mother, and today you came to propose?"
Tham Viet Trinh paid no attention to her. His eyes only looked at me.
“I will handle Lam Nhuoc Giao's matter.”
“I will also be responsible for the child, but I will not marry her.”
“Ninh Ninh, the person I love is you.”
Rain water dripped down his bangs. I looked at that ring, remembering the box in my drawer. It is still at the hotel now. I don't take it away. Tham Viet Trinh quickly said:
“You came to Nam Thanh to propose, right?”
“We still have time now.”
I froze for a moment.
“How do you know?”
His eyes flashed.
“I went to the hotel to look for you and saw the ring box in the drawer.”
Here, I understand. I suddenly felt a bit tired. He always only sees it at the last minute. My medical records, my luggage, and the ring that I hadn't given away yet, all had to wait until I left before falling into his eyes. But between people, there are some things that have been missed and will not stand still and wait for you. Tham Viet Trinh knelt down. The surrounding colleagues who were about to get in the car all looked over. He raised his head, eyes red.
“Lin Ninh, don't go.”
“You are wrong.”
“Give me one more chance.”
I remember many years ago, the first time he confessed his love to me. At that time, he stood under the streetlight at the back door of Nam Thanh Hospital No. 1, his white blouse draped over his arm, said he would try to end the long distance relationship later. I thought that was our future. But the future can never be based on words. I opened my mouth slightly.
“Tham Viet Trinh.”
“Do you know what you want to tell me when I come to Nam Thanh?”
He nodded, tears falling.
“Propose.”
“Not true.”
He froze. I looked at the ring in his hand.
“I want to ask you, do you still need me?”
The sound of rain falling on the roof of the car made a heavy sound. Tham Viet Trinh's face turned a little pale.
