Chapter 8 — Five Missed Registrations

I bit the straw and swallowed the milk tea.

“Probably soon.” I said, “He seems to be preparing some surprise these days.”

The bottom of Bach Linh's eyes flashed. Very fast. So fast that if I wasn't deliberately observing, I absolutely wouldn't have noticed. But now my eyes are as sharp as a surgical knife. I don't ignore any of her little expressions. That flash of light was tension.

“Surprise? What surprise?” She smiled questioningly, her tone extremely natural.

“I don't know, he won't tell me.” I rested my chin on the back of my hand, looking expectant. “Maybe a proposal?”

Bach Linh's fingers slightly tightened the stem of the glass. Knuckles turn white. One second. Then let go.

"That would be great, Niem Niem! Remember to let me know first then!"

I smiled and nodded. The string in my heart — confirmed once again. She's stressed. As soon as I heard the words "propose" I was tense. Because if Co Dien Chu really proposes, that means he must quickly resolve his marital relationship with Bach Linh. But between the two of them, they were clearly not prepared for this step. Fine. If you are not planning to take this step — Then I will help you take it.

【Chapter 6】 When the plan reached the third week, Bach Linh changed. The change is very subtle. If it was the old me, I absolutely wouldn't recognize it. But the present me, maintained an almost pathological vigilance over her every breath. That afternoon, I was eating a boxed lunch at my seat. Bach Linh took the cup and walked out of the tea room, stopping behind me for a few seconds. I didn't turn back. But through the reflection on the computer screen, I saw her peeking at my screen. What was open on my computer — was a planning document for the western area. Just general public information from the planning department, not related to my father's land. But she stopped for a full five seconds before leaving. This is not normal. In the past, she passed by behind me, at most she just glanced at me, said, "Overtime again, it's too hard" and left. The five-second pause — shows she was trying to gather information. The second anomaly appeared on the same afternoon. Bach Linh invited me to the supermarket to buy snacks, and on the way "conveniently" asked a question:

"Nien Niem, have you taken on a new project lately? Ms. Chau said she sees you working overtime every day."

The tone is very gentle. Too gentle.

“Yes, just taking on a small project, it's not too busy.” I laughed it off.

"What kind is that? Do you need any help?"

“House renovation, small scale.” I made up a direction. “No need, I can take care of it myself.”

She nodded, smiled, and didn't ask any more questions. But at 9 p.m. that night, I worked overtime and was the last person to leave the office. Before turning off the computer, out of habit, I check the recent file access history. There was a folder — a folder with a password to store documents sent by Luc Tu — that was attempted to be opened at 3 p.m. Unsuccessful. Because there is a password. But the act of “trying to open” itself — There were only two seats next to me. One is from engineer Lam who has been on a business trip for a week now. The second is Bach Linh's. She is testing me. Do you smell danger? Or on Co's side What did Dien Chu feel? I sat in the dark office thinking for five minutes. Don't panic. If she's just being suspicious, then let her suspicions get the best of her. The next day, I proactively went to look for Bach Linh.

“Linh Linh —” I approached her desk, my face full of concern. “I'll tell you this, don't laugh at me.”

“What's wrong?” She put down her pencil and turned around.
