Chapter 6 — Forced to Peel Shrimps, I Smashed an Entire Family

Luu Mai's voice, sour and full of malice, rang out clearly with each word.

"That brat thought I couldn't handle him, I deliberately forced him to peel shrimp for Dinh Dinh to spite him!"

"His mother is nothing, she just gave birth to such an unreasonable person!"

"When the divorce is over, I'll leave him empty-handed and get out of this house without taking a penny with him!"

Every sentence was spoken by her own mouth. Every sentence is a knife stabbing itself. I turned off the recording and raised my head to look up at the sky. The clouds cleared, the sun rose. Co Dich, Luu Mai, Co Dinh... your end has come. I immediately sent the recording file to lawyer Ly. This time, the initiative was in my hands. After listening, Lawyer Ly almost called back immediately. Her voice was both professional and unable to hide her excitement.

“Miss Khuong, the value of this recording cannot be measured.”

“Not only does it overturn their entire ‘victim’ story, but it is also direct evidence of slander and intent to misappropriate property.”

"With it in hand, we are not only sure of winning the divorce, but also the defamation lawsuit is enough to make them pay a heavy price."

Hearing that, the feeling of resentment in my heart seemed to be wiped away.

“So what should we do next?”

“No rush.” Her voice was calm, every word was firm.

“Just let them continue.”

"They are standing at the peak of public opinion. The louder they are, the more painful it will be when they fall."

“We don't need to do anything, just watch them show themselves off.”

"Wait until the summons reaches them, when they are most pleased, then we will present this recording as key evidence."

“I want them to fall straight into the mud from above.”

I immediately understood her strategy. An attack does not need to be rushed, but it must be fatal. I like it so much. The following days, I followed the advice, turned off all social networks, did not look or listen to anything outside. I went back to my parents' house, no one asked much, they just quietly cooked a table full of my favorite dishes. That warmth is enough to heal everything. As for the Co family, as expected, they acted more and more aggressively, like people who didn't know they were about to fall. Co Dinh began receiving interviews from local news sites, crying and telling the story like a filial son protecting his mother. Luu Mai also came back with a "mild illness", recorded a video in bed, cried and told me about my sins in front of the camera. Co Dich plays the role of a pitiful husband who was betrayed by his wife, his eyes always seeming to endure. Their entire family, acting to perfection like a well-rehearsed play. Many people believe that social networks are full of criticism aimed at me. Some people even dug up my personal information, my phone was called constantly, and cursed messages were piled up. I didn't react, just quietly took pictures of each piece of evidence. Everything will eventually become a knife turned against them. Finally, when they were drunk in the support of public opinion, the court summons was like a resounding slap, falling straight into each person's hand. I can almost imagine the looks on their faces, from surprise to contempt, as if this were just my last futile effort. Not long after, lawyer Ly received a phone call from the other side. The other person's voice was full of arrogance.

“Lawyer Ly, is your client planning to play to the end?”

“I advise you to be reasonable and accept the conditions of reconciliation before that, there's still time.”

Lawyer Ly smiled slightly.

“Lawyer Truong, perhaps you don't understand the situation clearly.”

“I officially announce that my client refuses all forms of mediation.”

“See you in court.”

Having finished speaking, she hung up the phone. The trial date is set in a week. As for the Co family, they pushed the matter even further, hiring people to spread the news on local forums, and even announced that they would "live stream the trial" to show everyone "the end of the cruel wife." They wanted to turn the courtroom into a place to condemn my honor, but unfortunately, they miscalculated this chessboard from the beginning. One day before the trial, Co Dich used an unfamiliar number to call me, his voice was a bit tired but still carried an arrogant tone that made people disgusted.

“Khuong Hoa, going to court tomorrow, are you scared yet?”

"There's still time to regret it now. Just kneel down and apologize to your mother. I can consider giving you some compensation money."

When I heard it, I only felt ridiculous, no longer angry, only coldness remained.

“Co Dich, do you really think you guys will win?”

"If not, what's the matter? The evidence is in our hands. Public opinion is on our side. Why should I fight?"

“Khuong Hoa, you can't win.”

I burst out laughing, the laughter rang out clearly and with relief as if I had just heard a farce.

"Then let's go to court tomorrow and see who is the biggest loser."

I hung up the phone and blocked that number. Outside the window, the night was already deep, but I knew dawn was very near.
