Chapter 3 — I am no longer anyone's ladder

"Manager Wen."

"If you have so much free time, please help Ms. Niem An review the process."

"Don't rely on yourself as a long-time employee and just sit idle."

Someone next to me laughed and talked.

"Isn't she from Van Chau Headquarters?"

"Probably better at showing off than working."

Luc Thua Chu heard it. But he didn't stop him. Eyes just focused on the presentation screen.

"Let's get started."

First rehearsal. It's a scene where a couple steps on stage together. The host just read the names Luc Thua Chu and Hua Niem An. A photo of two people hugging each other appeared on the screen. Hua Niem An took his hand and walked forward. Softly asked:

"Thua Chu."

"Tomorrow you said that we met each other at Truong Dieu's most difficult time..."

"Is it too melodramatic?"

Luc Thua Chu bowed his head and smiled at her.

"No exaggeration."

"If it weren't for you..."

"I couldn't last until today."

The tip of the pen in my hand stopped. Truong Dieu's most difficult time... was when I stayed awake in Van Chau with him for three months. When he was questioned by the Board of Directors. I stayed up every night editing each page of plans for him. When he couldn't get the supplier list. I asked someone to take him to each networking party. When his father was hospitalized. He hid in the stairs and said he couldn't hold on anymore. I personally invited each of the old partners of the Wen family to return to cooperate. But now... All that hard work. All become Hua Niem An's. The person in charge of the process looked towards me.

"Manager Wen."

"Why don't you take notes?"

I closed the pen cap.

"This paragraph is inappropriate."

The smile on Hua Niem An's face immediately stiffened.

"Where is it inappropriate?"

I calmly replied:

"The time you two have known each other doesn't match."

"The most difficult time for Truong Dieu..."

"She's still at school preparing to defend her graduation thesis."

In the meeting room. Someone bowed his head and opened a document to look up. Manh Giai slammed on the table.

"Why are you investigating Ms. Niem An?"

"Or are you still following her?"

Hua Niem An's tears fell very quickly.

"If you don't like me, just say so."

"There's no need to bring up my studies."

Luc Thua Chu threw the stack of script cards down on the table.

"On Nam Chi."

I looked at him.

"Sooner or later someone will verify this advertisement."

"Are you sure you still want to use it?"

"This is my project."

His voice was low.

"There's no need for me to interfere."

I nodded. I pushed the stack of script cards back.

"So keep it that way."

Luc Thua Chu stared at me. As if looking for a hint of panic on my face. What a pity... I have nothing to panic anymore. Before the meeting ends. The head of the finance department, Mr. Chu, hurried in. He leaned close to Luc Thua Chu's ear and said a few words. His expression immediately changed.

"Van Chau side..."

"Why return the file?"

Mr. Chu glanced at me.

"That side said..."

"They need to reassess the stability of the person in charge of the project."

Hua Niem An immediately grabbed Luc Thua Chu's hand.

"Did Ms. On do it?"

"Just now she threatened me."

Everyone's eyes turned towards me at the same time. Luc Thua Chu walked in front of me.

"Don't bring up work problems to get angry."

I looked at him.

"So..."

"You I know it's business."

The blue vein on his temple twitched.

"I'll tell the On family to take back the files first."

"There must be absolutely no trouble at the Lantern Festival tomorrow night."

"Based on what?"

He took a deep breath.

"Based on our six years of love."

I smiled softly.

"Just now..."

"Aren't you still saying..."

"Can't I leave you?"

Luc Thua Chu's face immediately became ugly. Hua Niem An said softly:

"Thua Chu..."

"Let me go and apologize to Ms. On."

"She just loves you so much."

I picked up my bag and stood up.

"Stop acting."

"Your tears..."

"It doesn't work for me."

Manh Giai rushed forward to block the way.

"You say it clearly then go."

"Are you jealous of Niem An..."

"Should we intentionally sabotage the project?"

I looked at the name tag on her chest.

"Manh Giai."

She was stunned. I said slowly:

"You want to sit in a management position..."

"First of all, you should memorize the company rules."

"Block visitors from coming to work."

"Steal employee card."

"Slandering others in front of everyone."

"Just one of these three errors..."

"It's enough for you to write a review."

Manh Giai's face turned red.

"Who are you threatening?"

Right at that moment. A deep male voice rang out outside the door.

"She didn't threaten you."

Everyone turned their heads simultaneously. Uncle Luong, long-time administrative manager of the Nam Thanh branch, was standing at the door. In his hand he held a book of employee regulations. He has worked for the Luc family for many years. Normally, I don't take anyone's side. He looked at me. Then put the rule book on the table.

"Manh Giai."

"Go to the human resources department to explain this afternoon."

Manh Giai immediately panicked.

"Uncle Luong."

"I'm just defending Niem An."
