Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — I Locked the Kitchen Door, Locked That Marriage
“Love Love.”
“Help me make an appointment with a lawyer.”
She nodded quickly.
“Is tomorrow afternoon okay?”
“I know a lawyer who specializes in handling marriage cases and has a pretty good reputation.”
To Tinh stood up and prepared to leave.
“You should rest first.”
“There are ready-made noodles in the refrigerator. If you're hungry, cook yourself something to eat.”
Walking to the door, she suddenly turned around.
“That house… you left.”
The door closes. The apartment immediately became quiet. There was no more noisy TV, no more Tien Que Lan's voice giving instructions, no more the sound of Co Dinh calling back and forth. It's so quiet that it's a bit strange. I sat on the sofa for a long time. Then I got up and went to the kitchen. Open the gas stove. Boil a pot of water. Add a handful of noodles. When the noodles are cooked, I take them out into a bowl. Add a little soy sauce, add a few drops of sesame oil and then crack an egg. I brought the bowl of noodles to the dining table. Pull the chair down. Only alone. A bowl of hot noodles. This is the first hot meal I have eaten... since I married into the Co family. The next morning, the phone vibrated almost non-stop. Co Vien called me fourteen times. I didn't pick up any calls. He also sent a bunch of text messages.
“Sister Ha, can you calm down a bit?”
“Sister Ha, let's talk.”
“I know it was wrong, I should have spoken up yesterday.”
“You go home first, everything can be discussed.”
The last message is a voice recording. I don't listen. Tien Que Lan also called me three times. I still don't pick up the phone. She sent another message:
“What do you mean?”
“It makes us lose face in front of so many relatives!”
“Are you still worthy of the Co family?”
I directly switched the phone to silent mode and threw it on the coffee table. At two o'clock in the afternoon, To Tinh brought a lawyer. Lawyer surnamed Ha, about thirty years old, short hair, speaks very decisively.
“Miss Lam, I have a rough grasp of your situation.”
"The two have been married for less than a week, have no common property, and no children."
“If the divorce is agreed upon, it will be processed very quickly.”
“About the matter of bride price.”
Lawyer Ha opened the notebook and looked at it.
“68,000 yuan was given by the south side.”
“If their side requests a refund…”
I interrupted immediately.
“Not even a penny is missing, pay them all.”
“And the dowry of 50,000 yuan?”
“It's my mother for me.”
“Not related to common property.”
“Are the real estate assets in your name?”
“Buy before marriage, pay in full before marriage.”
“Not relevant.”
Lawyer Ha nodded.
“What about the company under your name?”
“‘Summer Kitchen’, registered before marriage, operated before marriage.”
“All income is personal property before marriage.”
“Not relevant.”
“Then it's no big deal.”
“Today I will start drawing up the divorce agreement.”
She looked at me and then asked:
“Miss Lam, what if the other side does not agree to divorce?”
“He will agree.”
Lawyer Ha did not ask why.
“Then I will try to finalize the agreement as soon as possible and then send you confirmation.”
After sending the lawyer away, To Tinh sat on the sofa scrolling through the phone.
“Sister Ha, please look at this.”
She turned the screen towards me. It's a screenshot of your friend circle. The person who posted... is Tien Que Lan.
"Bad things at home shouldn't be brought out, but there are some people who do bad things so you can understand them best."
"The newlywed daughter-in-law wanted to leave after less than three days, who gave her that face?"
“You can marry me The Co family is his blessing, yet he doesn't know how to appreciate it!
Below are a bunch of comments.
“What's going on?”
“Young people these days really don't understand.”
"Que Lan, don't be so angry that it's harmful to your health."
I finished reading and then put the phone down.
“It's up to her to post.”
To Tinh frowned.
“Do you really ignore it?”
“She is deliberately leading public opinion.”
“She can say whatever she wants.”
I picked up the approval document of branch number three on the table. Flip through each page.
“When do I need to sign this batch of applications?”
To Tinh looked at me for a moment then sighed.
“Before the day after tomorrow.”
“Okay, I'll finish watching it tonight.”
That evening, my mother called me.
“Daughter… have you left the Co family?”
My hand stopped.
“How do you know?”
“Your mother-in-law called me.”
I was silent for a few seconds.
“What did she say?”
Ton Ngoc Mai's voice lowered.
“She said I don't understand the rules.”
“Not even three days after getting married, she asked for a divorce.”
“She also said that the Co family treated me very well, but I was unreasonable.”
“She also said…”
