Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — I Missed The Day My Child Was Born
“Even mom is like that?”
“That's because I want the best for you.”
Mother-in-law said chokingly.
“Hieu Vu is a good girl.”
“I don't know how to appreciate.”
“Then someone else will appreciate her.”
“Instead of letting her continue to suffer in this house.”
“It's better to give it back its freedom.”
Tran Chi Vien looked at her mother-in-law. Look at me again. He picked up his pen. Tremblingly signed the agreement.
“Signing is done.”
He gave me the agreement. The voice was very quiet. I take it. Look at the signature below. My heart is filled with all kinds of emotions. Three years of marriage. It finally ended like that.
“There's one more thing.”
“I will move tomorrow.”
“Give me back this house.”
“Where are you going to move to?”
Tran Chi Vien asked.
“It has nothing to do with you.”
I replied coldly.
“You will follow me.”
I held the baby tightly in my arms.
“It's written very clearly in the agreement.”
“The right of custody belongs to me.”
Tran Chi Vien looked at the baby. Eyes full of nostalgia.
“Can I hold the baby for a moment?”
I hesitated for a few seconds. Finally gave the baby to him. Tran Chi Vien carefully held his child in his arms. Tears kept falling.
“Sorry, child.”
“Dad, I'm sorry.”
The baby seemed to sense something. The small hand grabbed his finger.
“It looks a lot like you when you were little.”
Tran Chi Vien choked up and said.
"That's right."
I calmly looked at him.
"Unfortunate."
“He doesn't have a good father.”
My words were like a knife. Stabbed straight into Tran Chi Vien's heart. But this time. He did not object.
"Alright."
“Give me back my child.”
I held out my hand. Tran Chi Vien reluctantly handed the baby back. Then stand up with crutches. He also wanted to say something.
“No need to say more.”
I interrupted.
“From today onwards.”
“We are just strangers.”
Tran Chi Vien looked at me. His eyes were filled with pain and regret. But it's too late. There are mistakes. Once committed. There will never be a chance to save.
“I went into my room to pack my things.”
I held my child and walked towards the bedroom. Tran Chi Vien called me back. I turned my head to look at him.
“If you have trouble in the future.”
“You can contact me.”
I shook my head.
“That day will not come.”
“From now on.”
“My life.”
“It has nothing to do with you anymore.”
I hugged my child and returned to the room. Close the door. Completely isolated from the outside world. Through the door. I heard Tran Chi Vien's muffled cry. Along with the helpless sigh of her mother-in-law. I sat on the edge of the bed. Look at the baby sleeping soundly in your arms. There is pain in my heart. Just relieved again. Because three years of love must eventually end. Because I finally escaped this painful marriage. Can start again from scratch.
“From tomorrow onwards.”
“There will only be mom by my side.”
I gently stroked her cheek.
“But I promise you.”
“I will give you the best life.”
The baby seemed to understand what I said. The corner of the small lips curled slightly. Revealing an immature smile. See that smile. A warm current suddenly welled up in my heart. No matter how difficult the road ahead is. I still have children. Early the next morning. I started packing my luggage. My mother and mother-in-law both came to help. The three of them quietly arranged my belongings and the baby's. Three years of marriage. In the end, it was limited to just two suitcase.
“Have you really decided?”
Mother-in-law asked with red eyes.
“I have decided.”
I held the baby in my arms.
“Mom, don't be sad.”
“We are still one family.”
“So where are you two planning to move to?”
“I rented a two-bedroom, one-living room apartment in the city center.”
“Very close to old company.”
“It will be more convenient to find a job in the future.”
“Looking for a job?”
Mother-in-law immediately worried.
“The baby is so young.”
“How can I go to work?”
“I will think of a way.”
I smiled faintly.
“You can't always rely on others to support you.”
Mother-in-law was about to say something. But in the end, I still swallowed it back in. Tran Chi Vien sat on the sofa in the living room. From beginning to end, he kept watching us pack up our things. But didn't say a word. His leg is still in a cast. Difficulty walking. Can only watch helplessly as we leave. After cleaning up. I hugged my child and prepared to leave the house. Tran Chi Vien called me back. I stopped walking. But don't turn back.
“Take good care of yourself.”
“Take good care of your child.”
His voice was very quiet.
“No need to worry.”
I replied coldly.
“If you need help…”
“There won't be any need.”
