Chapter 12
Chapter 12 — Last Hope
She was wearing pajamas, her hair was messy, and seeing me was like seeing a ghost.
“What... what are you doing!”
“I came to visit the person who just lost.”
I pushed the door open and walked straight in. The house is messy. The brand new marriage certificate was torn in half and thrown on the ground. Tran Loi was not there.
“Where is he?” I asked.
“How would I know!” Lam Na snapped.
"When he came home, he argued with me, saying I hurt him. He left early in the morning and turned off his phone."
“Run away?”
I frowned. But it's okay. He couldn't escape.
“Tran Hi, what else do you want?”
Lam Na looked at me, both hateful and afraid.
“You've destroyed everything, isn't that enough?”
“Destroy?” I laughed.
“No. Just getting started.”
I looked at her.
“I came today... to take you somewhere.”
“Where to?” she is wary.
“A place… that can cure your illness.”
I just finished speaking. Outside the door came the sound of rapid footsteps. The door opened. Director Vuong personally led people in. Two burly men followed behind.
“It's her!”
He pointed straight at Lam Na, turned to me and smiled approvingly.
"Lam Na, right? We are An Khang hospital."
“We received a notice from her husband, Mr. Tran Loi, saying that she was mentally agitated and had violent tendencies.”
“You need to be treated.”
Lam Na was stunned.
"You guys are talking nonsense! I'm not sick! It's her! It's Tran Hi who's crazy!"
She pointed at me, screaming.
“Have you seen it?” I shrugged. “Started talking nonsense.”
“Give it away!” The director shouted.
Two men immediately rushed forward and held her tightly.
“Let me go! Let me go!”
Lam Na struggled wildly, kicking and biting.
"Tran Hi! You bastard! I won't forgive you even if I die!"
The sound of cursing was deafening. But right now... it just sounds weak. The door closes. All sounds... were cut off. I stood there. Be silent for a few seconds. Then turned around and walked out. One piece has been eliminated. is gradually coming to an end. Principal Vuong waved his hand, his voice filled with impatience. Lam Na was dragged away like an animal cornered. Her screams were deafening, then gradually faded away. The room became quiet again. I know, what awaits her behind that door... will be scarier than any hell. That's the price she has to pay. Having finished Lam Na's work, the next person—is Tran Loi. I took the phone and called my uncle. As soon as I connected, I immediately choked up, trying to make myself sound like I was panicking.
"Uncle! It's not okay! Go to the hospital quickly!"
"Tieu Hi? What's going on?" His voice became tense.
“Sister-in-law… the doctor said her condition is very bad… she might… not make it through the night…”
I made up a lie. His voice immediately changed.
“I'll be there soon!”
“Please... call everyone in the house to come together.”
I hiccuped slightly.
"I want... to let everyone say goodbye to my sister-in-law one last time..."
"Let them see... what your brother has turned this house into..."
“Okay, I know.”
I hung up the phone. No tears. There is only hatred. Tran Loi, don't you really like acting? Don't you like standing in front of your loved ones and being a lovesick husband? I built you the biggest stage. Let me perform... the last act of my life. I went back to the hospital. In the hospital room, I installed everything. A small projector. A hidden speaker. All are connected to the phone. Just waiting for someone to come. About an hour later— every everyone was present. Uncles, aunts, relatives. Everyone was heavy, sighed, looking at me with complicated eyes. Pity. But most of all... it's still distance.
“Tieu Hi, where is your brother?” he asked.
“I don't know, his phone is turned off.”
I replied.
"This guy! His wife is not going to make it and has disappeared!"
The uncle scolded angrily. At that moment— the room door opened. Tran Loi appeared. He looked much more emaciated, his beard was scraggly, and his eyes were bloodshot. But just seeing the crowd— he immediately fell into character. Run to the bed. Kneel down.
"Van Van! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"
He held his sister-in-law's hand and cried heart-wrenchingly.
"It's me who's useless! I can't protect you!"
“If you were gone... I wouldn't be alive anymore!”
He hit his head against the wall. Perfect performance. To the point... making others believe it's true. The relatives couldn't bear it. Hastily pulled him back.
“Tran Loi, don't be like that!”
“It's not your fault!”
"It's fate..."
An aunt hugged him, crying even harder.
“Oh my god, why are my grandchildren so miserable!”
I'm standing next to you. Coldly looking at everything. Like watching the darkest comedy. A moment later, Tran Loi stood up. Red eyes, staring at me. He roared.
“Are you satisfied?”
"My sister-in-law is about to die! This family has also been destroyed by you!"
"You're such a comet! You're crazy!"
All eyes— focused on me. As if I was the guilty one. I smiled softly.
“Don't be in a hurry.”
I spoke as softly as the wind.
“Before seeing off my sister-in-law… also to prove whether I am crazy or not…”
“I would like to invite everyone to watch a video.”
I pressed the button. The projector lights up. The white wall— the image appeared.
