Chapter 12
Chapter 12 — Locking my card to leave, I left my husband's family stranded in a seven-star hotel
Brand handbook. Sample to try. Everything is completely prepared. The meeting started at two o'clock in the afternoon. I wore a figure-hugging wine red dress, my hair tied back, and stood in front of my booth introducing products to visitors.
“Too, this eyeshadow palette is very special.”
A female reporter wearing glasses held up a product to try out.
“Did you design it yourself?”
"That's right."
I smiled.
“I adjusted the colors specifically for Asian skin tones, there are rarely color combinations like this on the market.”
“No wonder it sells well.”
She took a few photos.
“I'll write an introduction when I get home.”
Everything went very smoothly. Until four o'clock in the afternoon. I was talking to an investor when I caught a glimpse of a figure entering the lobby door. Tran Phong. He was wearing a suit, his hair was neatly combed, and he was holding an invitation in his hand. Next to him there was another person. He's the leader of his company. I met once, they were Ma. Why did he appear here? I quickly understood. Ma's company also operates a cosmetics supply chain and is related to this group. Tran Phong probably followed the leader to "get fame". I withdrew my gaze and continued chatting with the investor. But clearly Tran Phong saw me. He walked around the hall. Then go straight towards my booth. He stood in front of the counter, his expression complicated. I glanced at him.
“You… are really big now.”
He looked at my brand logo and display counter, his voice was clearly bitter.
“I heard you were selected for that support program?”
He stood still, his lips moving as if he wanted to say something. At that moment, manager Ha came over.
“President To, I'll take you to meet Deputy President Ly.”
“He was very interested in your brand.”
I nodded and turned to Tran Phong.
“Excuse me.”
Then I went with manager Ha. Behind him, Tran Phong's face was extremely ugly. Deputy General Ly is a man over forty years old and speaks very decisively.
“General To, I have seen your data.”
“The growth curve is very nice.”
“Have you ever thought about raising capital to expand your scale?”
“I'm still considering it right now.”
“No rush.”
He nodded.
“Just run through these three months of support first.”
“When the data is more stable, we will discuss further.”
“The platform is also considering investing in several potential brands.”
“You are one of the candidates.”
“Thank you, Mr. Ly.”
After finishing chatting, I returned to the booth. Discovered Tran Phong was still loitering nearby. In his hand he held a glass of champagne, his eyes constantly glancing at me. I consider him non-existent. At 5:30 p.m., the exchange session entered the free networking part. I was cleaning up the samples on the counter when I heard a voice behind me.
“To Niem, can I talk to you privately for a few words?”
It's Tran Phong. I turned around.
“If you have anything, just say it here.”
He looked around the crowded hall and lowered his voice:
“I know you're doing pretty well now.”
“I want to discuss a cooperation matter with you.”
“Your company's supply chain resources will be needed.”
“General Ma has many factories, the price is even lower than my current supplier.”
I looked at him. Suddenly felt extremely ridiculous.
“Tran Phong.”
“Three months ago I was still looking for someone cut off my supply.”
“Now you want to talk about cooperation with me?”
His face immediately turned red.
“That… that's over.”
“Didn't you already apologize to me?”
“When did you apologize to me?”
He opened his mouth, unable to say a word.
“Tran Phong.”
My voice is not loud. But every word is very clear.
“I'll say it once, listen carefully.”
“My business…”
“I've never needed you before.”
“There was no need before.”
“No need now.”
“There will be no need later.”
“The best thing you can do for me…”
“Just stay away from me for a bit.”
Several employees who were cleaning up nearby stalls all turned their heads to look over. Tran Phong's face was sometimes red, sometimes white. In the end, only one sentence came out:
“Don't regret it.”
“I have said this word many times.”
I turned around and continued packing.
“But every time I regret… it's always me.”
He stood still for a few seconds then turned and left. I don't know when manager Ha stood next to me and asked me in a low voice:
“Who is that person?”
“Ex-husband.”
Manager Ha glanced at Tran Phong's back.
“It looks pretty miserable.”
“He has always been very pathetic.”
I laughed faintly.
“I just didn't see it before.”
