Chapter 4 — Locking my card to leave, I left my husband's family stranded in a seven-star hotel

"It's worth it. Let him figure it out himself."

Hanging up the phone, I sat on the sofa and looked around the small sixty square meter apartment. This is the house I saved up for a deposit before getting married. Only write my name. Tran Phong once wanted me to add his name to the red book, but I did not agree. Because of that, he had a cold war with me for a month. Now that I think about it... luckily I didn't add it. At three o'clock in the afternoon, I finally picked up Tran Phong's call. Not because I want to hear it. But because he called more than fifty times.

“To Niem, are you crazy?!”

His voice was the type to grind each word in anger.

"Do you know what you did? My mother was detained by the hotel! 138,000 yuan! Tell me, where can I find 138,000 yuan?!"

“I already agreed with my mother.”

I replied leisurely.

“Then think of your own way.”

"That's my card! What do you mean by canceling the card?"

“My card, I have the right to cancel.”

He was so angry that his throat choked.

"To Niem, just wait there. When I get there, I'll settle the matter with you."

“The door password has been changed, you can't get in.”

The other end of the line was silent for three seconds.

“What do you mean?”

“Whatever you mean, think for yourself.”

I hung up. Then I opened my laptop and started processing the pile of orders that had been left for three days. Life must continue. Business cannot stop. Tran Phong returned at dawn the next morning. I was woken up by the doorbell. The bell rang continuously, mixed with the sound of pounding on the door.

"To Niem! Open the door!"

I didn't move.

"To Niem, I know you're in there! Quickly open the door for me!"

I picked up my phone and looked at the time. One forty in the morning.

“If you don't open it, I'll knock on the door!”

I got out of bed and walked to the door. Just stand inside and say:

“If you keep hitting me, I'll call the police.”

It was quiet outside for a few seconds.

“To Niem, let's talk.”

His voice softened.

“Open the door, I'll speak properly.”

"Let's talk about something tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? Are you going to let me stand outside all night?"

“You can go to the hotel.”

There was another period of silence. Then I heard him kick the door hard, curse and leave. At ten o'clock the next morning, while I was packing goods to ship, the doorbell rang again. I looked at the camera in front of the door. It's Tran Phong. And mother-in-law. Her face was pale, her hair was a bit messy, and she was still wearing the silk shirt she used to wear in Sanya, now wrinkled miserably. I opened the door. As soon as she entered, her mother-in-law sat down on the sofa, panting. Tran Phong walked behind, his face not looking any better. The mother-in-law spoke up, her voice hoarse.

“Do you know we were kept in Sanya for a day and a night?”

I stood next to the dining table, not sitting down.

“The hotel reported to the police, saying we intentionally stole money.”

Her lips trembled.

"The police came and took us to the station to take statements. Mom is sixty years old and has never stepped into a police station in her life!"

I calmly looked at her.

“That money should not have been paid by you.”

“What did you say?!”

The mother-in-law suddenly raised her head.

"You are the daughter-in-law of the Tran family. Isn't the Tran family's money your money? And isn't your money also the Tran family's money?"

“Your money is earned by yourself.”

"If you marry into the Tran family, the money you earn belongs to the Tran family!"

She hit the sofa armrest hard.

“I'll ask my husband if there's anyone in his family with a daughter-in-law like you Are not?"

Tran Phong standing next to him finally opened his mouth:

“To Niem, this time you've really been too much. No matter what, I can't leave your mother in Sanya like that."

“You agreed with your mother that I would pay for the entire trip.”

I looked straight at him.

“Have you ever asked my opinion?”

“You earn 8,000 yuan a month, where do you have the right to agree to let your mother spend more than 200,000 yuan?”

“Aren't you still there?”

Tran Phong blurted out. The atmosphere immediately fell silent. I nodded.

“Before, there was still me. But not now.”

“What do you mean?”

Mother-in-law jumped up.

“What I mean is…”

I looked at the two of them.

“From today onwards, I will not give another penny to the Tran family.”

My mother-in-law trembled and pointed at me.

“Tran Phong! Look what kind of wife I'm marrying! You ungrateful thing! Our Tran family raising it for three years is truly a waste of effort!”

I laughed.

"Mom, for three years now... I've been raising everyone's family."

“I farted!”

Mother-in-law screamed.

“My son marrying you is a blessing for his family! What conditions does your To family have? If it weren't for the Tran family, we..."

I interrupted her, went to the dining table and picked up a file.

"This is the entire record of the money I transferred over the past three years to Tran Phong and spent it directly on everyone's homes."

“Bank statements, transfer photos, I printed them all out.”

“Total 483,700 yuan.”

I put the documents on the coffee table. Mother-in-law was stunned. Tran Phong was also stunned.

“There's also the Sanya account.”

I continue.

“That 138,000 yuan hotel fee, who paid it in the end?”

Tran Phong turned away.

“I… borrowed from a friend.”

I repeat.

“I borrowed 138,000 yuan to pay for a seven-star presidential suite for my mother to stay in, plus a bottle of red wine for 12,000 yuan.”

“Isn't it because you forced me?!”

Tran Phong turned around and glared.

“If you are willing to pay normally, then why do you need to borrow money?”

“Tran Phong.”

My voice was extremely calm.

“Do you hear what you're saying?”

“Your mother took your younger brother's family to the presidential suite, drank more than ten thousand yuan of red wine, went on a cruise, ate abalone and lobster, all while spending my money.”

“And I was alone in the standard room on the third floor, running to take pictures, lining up, and making pictures for the whole family.”

“Do you think that's normal?”

Tran Phong opened his mouth. But couldn't say a word.

“Let me ask you one more question.”

I looked straight into his eyes.

“These past three years… how much money have you spent on this family?”
