Chapter 1 — Lottery Ticket

Updated 10/08/2026 7 min read

Winning the lottery and taking it home I took the lottery ticket that won 10 million home, but my husband asked for a divorce. He said he had found the true love of his life. She is prosperous and helps him win 1 million. Later, he knelt down and begged me to come back. I just smiled, got in the red supercar, and drove away, leaving him in the car smoke.

I held the lottery ticket tightly, rechecking each number countless times. Finally sure enough, I really hit the jackpot! First prize, 10 million! I started breathing rapidly, looking around. The noise of people made me suddenly feel like the lottery ticket in my hand was shining brightly, as if everyone could see it. Panicking and stuffing it into my pocket, I thought to myself that I should immediately go home and discuss it with my husband, and take the day off tomorrow to receive my reward. Leaving the crowd, I breathed a sigh of relief, then joy immediately filled my chest. So great! With this money, we can pay off all our debt! Thinking of this, I suddenly felt relieved and my steps became much faster. A 15-minute walk, this time I arrived home in less than 10 minutes. Opening the door, I still couldn't wipe away the smile on my face.

“Honey? Are you home?”

I put down the shopping cart and called twice.

“I have something to say, I won…”

I pushed open the bedroom door. Before I could finish my words, the scene inside left me speechless. My husband is holding a beautiful girl in his arms, his mother-in-law is standing next to him, looking at the two of them with eyes full of satisfaction. Hearing the door open, all three of them turned around. I was stunned for a few seconds, then got mad. I rushed forward and pulled the other girl out of my husband's arms.

"Who are you? You shameless fox spirit, you dare to seduce my husband!"

Just as I was about to grab her hair, a sudden kick from the side made me fall to the ground.

“You sour woman, what the hell are you doing?!”

I lay on the floor, looking up at the person who had just kicked me - my husband. The mother-in-law immediately ran to help the girl up and asked worriedly:

“Are you okay, Thanh Thanh?”

Seeing her gently shaking her head, the two of them turned to me again, angrily blaming.

"Are you crazy? Suddenly rushed in and pulled Thanh Thanh down?!"

I couldn't believe it, why did they treat me like that?

"Who is she? Why are you hugging her?"

My husband stood in front of the girl and coldly said:

"Thanh Thanh is my person. She is gentle, responsible, prosperous, unlike you, who is both poor and messy!"

The mother-in-law wriggled her chubby body and walked over, smirking:

"That's right! Look at you, you're so skinny, your face looks like a killer, you can tell right away that you can't be rich!"

I didn't care about her, just stared at my husband:

“What do you mean, say it clearly?”

“What do you mean? It means I want to divorce you!”

"No way! I just hit..."

"Win what? Didn't you almost win the second prize last month? But in the end you changed a number, only got the third prize, only 3 thousand, not enough to pay for a month's bank loan!"

My husband interrupted me, talking endlessly. He's talking about last month. At that time, I chose the winning number for the second prize, but when I bought it, I dialed the wrong number. I thought it wouldn't win, so I didn't buy it again. The day the prize was drawn, my husband was crazy excited and searched for the lottery ticket. I found out later that I bought the wrong number. Just because of this, mother and son died laughed at me for a whole month. My mother-in-law even scolded me for being a comet and a husband killer, saying I was wasting the family's money.

Thinking of this, I won't say anything more. My husband saw my silence, thought I was speechless, and said proudly:

“Thanh Thanh is not like you, she actually helped me win 1 million!”

"Nothing else! If it weren't for Thanh Thanh, I would have missed the big prize this time!"

"So, it's still Thanh Thanh's prosperous husband. We've only been together for a month, and I won 1 million right away!"

My mother-in-law took the opportunity to put me down

“Unlike someone who has been married for more than three years and has no children and no money.”

“Not only that, but I still have a lot of debt that I can't pay back!”

It's true that woodpeckers perch on trees—just good at talking! It was clear that Tran Minh was physically weak. He didn't dare admit his problem, so he blamed it all on me. My mother-in-law knew everything but still calmly criticized me. Still in debt? It was because Tran Minh was too ambitious, looked down on small money, always wanted to reach the sky, was tricked into borrowing money to invest, and ended up losing miserably. Because of our many years of gratitude, I did not abandon him but shouldered the debt together. But now he puts all the responsibility on me.

"Han Tinh, today we're going to file for divorce. I really don't want to see you another second."

I smoothed my hair and glanced at the girl standing still next to Tran Minh. Her makeup was delicate, her age couldn't be guessed, but I felt like she was familiar, like I'd seen her somewhere. Just as she was about to take a closer look, Tran Minh pulled her into his arms and shouted:

“What are you looking at? You look like a witch like this, what if it scares people to death?”

Thinking for a moment, he told his mother to take the other girl out so the two of us could discuss divorce.

“When did you guys start?”

I work hard every day, and when I come home I have to clean, cook, and take care of a man as big as a newborn, tired to death. Yet I never discovered that he was having an affair right before my eyes.

“That has nothing to do with you.” Tran Minh was pleased. “You just need to know that Thanh Thanh is my true love.”

“My true love?” I laughed. “You said the same thing before when you tricked me into getting married far away.”

Tran Minh was silent for a few seconds, then blatantly replied:

"At that time, I was young and didn't understand what love was. Now I know."

What he's talking about is nonsense. What about 'you were young back then'? Wasn't it just three years ago?

“Do you really want a divorce?”

I want to be sure, I'm afraid he's playing tricks again.

"Of course! Thanh Thanh is pregnant with my child, we have to divorce immediately so I can still marry her."

“She's pregnant?” I smirked. “Are you sure it's your child?”

Tran Minh turned pale and spoke stiffly:

“This month she's only with me, of course it's my child!”

I'm speechless. It's just too naive. How long have he and her known each other?

“What if I win the lottery?”

Tran Minh was stunned for a moment, then laughed:

"You? Won the lottery? I'd rather believe that tomorrow the sun will rise from the west!"

I touched my bag and confirmed that the winning lottery ticket was still there.

“Okay, I told you. In the future, if I win the lottery, you can only watch and be jealous.”

“Hmm, look at the appearance You're so poor, don't dream of winning the lottery in your whole life."

I really want to tear Tran Minh's rotten mouth apart. When I was kicked out of my house, I suddenly remembered... That girl Thanh Thanh, isn't she the lottery ticket seller at the counter near the apartment complex? After failing to borrow money, Tran Minh fell deeper into gambling, dreaming of changing his life with the lottery. Buying for a long time, losing money but never winning a penny. He started to entice me to buy with him. If I don't buy it, he grumbles all day, saying I'm standing in the way of his fortune. To avoid trouble, I bought one every few days and threw it in his face to get it over with. Every time it was time to draw the number, he glued his eyes to the screen, attentively listening to every word of the MC as if it were the key to opening a treasure. This time, I bought the winning lottery ticket and immediately put it in my pocket, then forgot about it. Actually, this prize drawing took place half a month ago. Just now when I went to the market, I accidentally found it in my bag, immediately took it out and compared it with the winning numbers, who would have thought that I actually won the first prize! Since the time he almost won the second prize, Tran Minh has been more focused on the lottery, sitting at the ticket shop almost every day. I advised him to find a job, otherwise, if things continue like this, sooner or later his money will run out and he won't be able to keep the house. But after being fired, he became lazy and refused to make money anymore. Now, the monthly debt payment is still based on my bride price and dowry when I got married.
