Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Lottery Ticket
After closing the first order, I rewarded myself with a shopping trip and bought a few favorite items. Unexpectedly, I met Thanh Thanh again.
12
She is working as a cashier in a clothing store. As soon as she saw me, she immediately lowered her head, but when I was about to leave, she chased after me, wanting to talk.
“I won't apologize to you. Anyway, it's thanks to me that you got rid of that scum of a man.”
The opening was so eloquent.
“If it weren't for me, you would still be with Tran Minh right now, being a sloppy, resigned wife.”
She looked at me from top to bottom, smirked and continued:
"But not as beautiful and luxurious as they are now? You can tell by looking at them that they are high-class office workers."
That's ridiculous. With just a few sentences, she took credit for all my efforts and changes. No wonder she and Tran Minh could be together—the same type of person!
"Do you have anything to do? If not, don't waste my time."
After saying that, I was about to turn around and leave. It's so unlucky, while I was happily shopping, I unexpectedly encountered something that spoiled my taste.
“Don't you want to know how Tran Minh is now?”
I was about to answer "No!", but she told it herself. After her miscarriage, when she needed the most attention, Tran Minh went crazy and destroyed everything in the house. She didn't understand why he was so angry, only later did she realize he had missed the opportunity to receive 10 billion from my lottery ticket. He and his mother took her home right after she was in the hospital for two days, but not to take care of her—but to torture her mentally. They scolded her as a "comet" and "unlucky person". If it weren't for her, their family would have made a fortune. Hearing this, I smiled slightly. It turned out that after I left, Thanh Thanh became a scapegoat for the Tran Minh family. They have never been wrong, the fault is always someone else's.
"I stole money from Tran Minh"
“I can't stand it anymore.”
Thanh Thanh said, her voice choked.
“It was both physically painful and mentally tortured, so I stole his winnings.”
“After redeeming the prize, I immediately ran back to my hometown.”
But her brother found out. A girl suddenly had more than 1 billion in her hands, her family couldn't help but notice.
“They forced me to hand over all the money to pay off my brother's gambling debt.”
Speaking of this, her eyes were filled with despair. She laughed bitterly, swaying a few times as if about to fall. I stood still, with no intention of supporting her.
"See? If you don't have a lucky number, even if you have money, people will steal it."
Thanh Thanh smiled wryly:
“At first, I really wanted to escape that family and live kindly with Tran Minh.”
“Otherwise, I wouldn't have rushed into bed with him and gotten pregnant so early.”
This sentence made me a bit stunned. In the three years I lived with Tran Minh, I never got pregnant because he had erectile dysfunction. Yet Thanh Thanh was with him for less than a month and was pregnant with twins. Even though the baby couldn't be kept, it was clear she was pregnant. I used to think Thanh Thanh only saw Tran Minh as a replacement, but it turns out she really wants to be with him. I burst out laughing—it was truly my own doing. Tran Minh sold her to pay off his debt
“After being robbed of all my money, my family tried to sell me to an old widower.”
“I was so scared, I ran away from home in the middle of the night. I didn't know where to go, so I Come back to find Tran Minh.”
I raised my eyebrows—what's wrong with her? Running back to find Tran Minh as a fulcrum was like jumping into a fire pit.
“But when I arrived, he was surrounded by creditors, demanding money.”
“He saw me and immediately wanted to sell me to pay off his debt.”
I almost burst out laughing.
“He said I took 1 billion from him, so just give me to the creditors to pay off the debt.”
“When they rushed to arrest me, I had to run away again.”
I crossed my arms and sighed:
“Listening to you, it seems like both of you have lived a 'very remarkable' life in the past half year, right?"
She smiled bitterly and did not answer. I picked up my bag, no longer interested in hearing any more.
“This is the end of your story, goodbye.”
I thought for a moment and then revised:
“No, I should say— from now on, let's never meet again.”

I just turned around to leave, Thanh Thanh behind me was still shouting:
"Tran Minh's leg was broken, don't you want to go back to visit him?"
I didn't even bother turning around and kept walking. Does Thanh Thanh think I'm the same as her? Just hang around with a scummy man like Tran Minh? How ridiculous! I don't have time to waste another second of my life. New life—No more past following me. After returning to the corporation, I tried even harder. I poured all my energy into the training program, not giving myself any free time to think about the past. Half a year later, I officially became an international sales officer, able to personally take charge of foreign customers. On the first day of my new assignment, I stood in front of the office glass door, looking down at the vast city. Ahead is a whole new world. No more days of being tied down in a bad marriage. No longer being imposed, belittled or bound by anyone. I once lost a life-changing opportunity. But this time, I won't let it slip away again. There's no more room in my life for the past. Just after taking Tran Minh's reward, Thanh Thanh couldn't help but come find me to tell the story about him. I thought for a moment, then turned around and added another sentence:
“Just broke a leg? It's not enough. Wait until all four limbs are broken before you come and tell me, I will definitely come and see the excitement.”
After that day, I never saw Thanh Thanh again. Meeting Tran Minh again—A pathetic person In the years that followed, I focused entirely on work, determined to get back the money from the lost lottery ticket. The more money I earn, the more I realize that I am the most valuable asset. I rewarded myself with a red supercar—something that before, when I was Tran Minh's wife, I didn't dare to think about it. That day, after a meeting at the company, I planned to go home to relax. As soon as he opened the car door, a figure rushed from the side—Tran Minh. He stood there, looking at me stunned, then suddenly burst into tears, his voice cracking:
“Wife… Wife… Let's remarry!”
I squinted at him. His face was full of wrinkles, more than half of his hair was white and sticky, covering one eye. His clothes were disheveled and his body emitted an unpleasant stench. I coldly asked:
“Who are you?”
He reached out his hand tremblingly:
“I'm Tran Minh! This is my husband! You… You are still so beautiful…”
“Tran Minh?” I smiled faintly. “Not familiar.”
I was just about to get into the car when he grabbed my hand. I immediately dodged, causing He lost his balance and almost fell. He immediately became mad and shouted:
“You rotten woman, what are you doing!”
He stammered and continued:
“If it wasn't because that woman refused to tell me where you were, I wouldn't have had to search so hard for you for so long!”
I understood immediately—Thanh Thanh returned to look for him again. What an odd relationship. I lifted my foot onto the car and calmly said:
"The matter between you two has nothing to do with me. Go away, otherwise security will come."
The building's security had been standing nearby for a long time. They saw me being harassed by someone who looked like a beggar, and they were approaching. Tran Minh glanced around, then suddenly knelt down on the ground.
"Wife! Let's start over! I promise to treat you well! You are the one who is prosperous!"
He cried so bitterly that my head was pounding. I didn't hesitate any longer, sat in the car, and stepped on the gas pedal. The car sped away like a rocket, leaving behind a cloud of smoke. From the rearview mirror, I saw Tran Minh kneeling on the spot, covered in car exhaust, staring blankly. He disappeared from my life forever. After that, he harassed me a few more times. I called the police and only parked in the company's private parking lot. From then on, he no longer had a chance to find me. The last time I heard about him was when he killed Thanh Thanh in anger. He was sentenced to many years in prison. When I heard this news, I didn't have any emotions. Both of those people... are just faint supporting characters in the story of my life. As for me—my bank account has long surpassed that 10 billion figure. Looking back, I feel lucky because that year I didn't go to receive the award. If I received that amount of money, maybe I wouldn't try to get ahead like I am now. Money you earn with your own hands is the most reliable thing.
