Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — Medals Are Not For You
Phuong Kha saw me and immediately ran over to explain: "The seats were temporarily adjusted by the sponsor. Doctor Tong has to report on the work of the recovery team today to facilitate communication with the training team." “That's reasonable.” I pulled out a chair and sat down. Phuong Kha, on the other hand, did not dare to leave. “Miss Kieu, how about I negotiate again?” “No need.” Ten minutes later, Luc Thua Da walked in. He showered, changed into a black sports suit, and the gold medal was back around his neck. Walking to the main table, seeing my seat, he frowned. “Who arranged this?” Just as Phuong Kha was about to open his mouth, I said first: "It's the same wherever you sit." Luc Thua Da looked at me for a few seconds, then raised his hand to wave to the waiter. “Pull her chair over here.” Tong Han stood up: "Let me go to table number two then." “You have to report today, no need to move.” Luc Thua Da signaled the waiter to place a chair between him and the Head Coach. The whole table stared. I didn't go there. “This place is quite spacious.” I picked up the glass of water. “I don't understand everyone's work.” Head coach Chu Khoi Son raised his head and looked at me. The first year I did Luc Thua Da's rehabilitation, he came every week to attend the evaluation meeting. He signed every report I made. Chu Khoi Son said nothing. Luc Thua Da's face darkened, but in front of the sponsor, he finally did not continue to force him. Halfway through the celebration party, the big screen began playing a documentary trailer about Luc Thua Da's return prepared by the club. In the frame, Luc Thua Da lies on the hospital bed, his left leg is fixed, his eyes are gray. The voiceover says: "Three years ago, an unexpected accident caused the Asian athletics hero to fall to the bottom of the cliff." The next scene is when he stops on the run. Tong Han, wearing the team's white uniform, stood behind him, holding the evaluation board. “The companionship of a team of experts helped him complete a comeback that seemed impossible.” The images flashed by very quickly. I realized that jogging video was filmed two years ago. At that time, Tong Han had never joined the team. The lens cut out the image of me standing on the side of the track, leaving only Luc Thua Da running forward. The trailer ended, the whole hall echoed with loud applause. Phuong Kha excitedly introduced: "Next week the full documentary will air. We will recreate the entire process from the time Mr. Luc was injured until he returned to the top of glory." I put down my chopsticks. “Director Phuong.” Phuong Kha smiled and looked over: "What advice does Miss Kieu have?" “Recreate the whole thing?” Her smile stiffened. Luc Thua Da looked at me across the table, his eyes carrying a warning. Phuong Kha quickly regained her composure and said: "Of course. Ms. Kieu, as a family member, has always accompanied Thua Da over the years. We also reserved a part of the family interview for her." “What about my treatment records?” The chatter at the banquet table gradually quieted down. "The video uses recovery images, test sheets and training data that I filmed. Who signed the copyright authorization?" Phuong Kha looked towards Luc Thua Da. He put down the glass of wine. “Let's talk when we get home.” “I'm just asking about copyright.” “Documents, once submitted to the club, inherently belong to the team's achievements.” Luc Thua Da's voice was not loud but loud enough for the two surrounding tables to hear. “Everyone is happy today, don't talk about unhappy things here.” I nodded. "Okay." I grabbed my bag and stood up under everyone's attention. “Let's talk tomorrow.” ### 2
