Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Medals Are Not For You
Phuong Kha's smile was about to be unbearable. “Can you give me a number?” “I won't sell for now.” "Why?" The meeting room door was pushed open. Luc Thua Da stood at the door, his workout shirt was soaked on the back, and his face looked very bad. He looked around, his eyes stopping on me. "You want to be registered, they agree to add it. If you want to receive money, you can negotiate. Now you say you won't sell, Kieu Tranh, what do you want to do?" Trieu Quang quickly stood up: "Thua Da, sit down first." “Halfway through my practice, people kept asking me if the documentary could still be shown.” Luc Thua Da did not sit. "The sponsor's promotional video has already poured in several million yuan. Just one sentence without authorization, the entire project has to stall, who will bear this loss?" “Why didn't you ask me before using it?” “I already asked you.” "When?" "Last month, I told you that the club wanted to film a documentary and needed old documents. You said it was all on the computer, so I told you to find it yourself." “When you said that, you were comparing the timeline of the injury.” The corner of Luc Thua Da's mouth moved slightly. That day before going to bed, he suddenly asked me what month it was when he first started jogging outdoors. I was preparing an ice pack for you, casually said that the documents were all on the computer, and told you to look it up yourself. That statement became a permanent authorization. Phuong Kha tried to reconcile: "There is some misunderstanding in communication here. Let's solve the problem first." “There was no misunderstanding.” I took out a stack of printed documents. "This is the download history from the office's cloud system. The media department used Luc Thua Ye's account to export a series of documents without my consent. The documentary can continue to broadcast, but with three conditions." Everyone looked at me. “First, for content related to the development and implementation of the recovery plan that I am in charge of, my full name and professional title must be clearly stated.” "Second, Tong Han is only allowed to narrate the stages in which she actually participated, and is not allowed to use the script to take on the entire treatment process of three years ago." “Third, original materials must be separately authorized according to the specific scope of use, permanent purchase is not accepted.” The producer frowned: "The structure of the documentary has been predetermined, redistributing each stage of treatment would weaken the integrity of the story." “Then don't use my content.” Luc Thua Da forcefully pulled out the chair. “Kieu Tranh, it wasn't difficult for you to talk like this before.” I looked at him. “You didn't erase my name before.” The meeting ultimately went nowhere. When I walked out of the club, Phuong Kha chased after me. “Miss Kieu.” She stepped on her high heels, breathing a little quickly. "I would like to say a few words that may not be heard. The most important thing for an athlete's comeback is the completeness of the story. The public needs a character with a clear, memorable image. The husband-wife relationship between her and Mr. Luc will complicate the professional story, Tong Han will be more suitable to stand in this position." “Who decides that?” “The assessment of the whole team.” “Does Luc Thua Da also agree?” Phuong Kha stopped for half a second. “He hopes the documentary can air smoothly.” I nodded. As I walked down the steps, my phone received a text message from the bank. The equipment loan on my office account has had to be paid in three consecutive months from my personal account. There have been no new projects in the past three years, the balance in the account is only enough to last another four months. I used to think that as long as Luc Thua Da could run again, I would be able to return to my career trajectory.
