Chapter 7
Chapter 7 — My Lover and Best Friend Betrayed Me Together
he asked.
“I'll say it again a little more clearly.”
I said:
"Tan Tu Viet, we broke up. You shouldn't appear in front of me anymore."
His throat moved.
“You're right.”
"But I haven't agreed to your farewell yet. I don't want to agree either."
I don't answer.
"I didn't find out until now."
His eyes stared at me, as if confirming something.
"I can't leave you. I'm used to your scent, used to seeing your round head in the law firm, used to the coffee you brewed for me. Others make it either too bitter or too sweet, I'm not used to drinking it."
He raised his eyes and looked at me.
“From beginning to end, the only person I love is you.”
“It's not Nguyen Duong, it won't be her.”
I glanced at him, feeling a bit funny. When I noticed him, he valued Nguyen Duong. I left, wanted to break up, run away to my hometown, but he said he loved me. He pulled out a chair and sat down, moving naturally as if this place was his place.
“Gia Gia, I know what you care about, I know it all.”
"Give me one more chance, even if you are a death row prisoner, you can postpone the execution of your death sentence. I can't break up so decisively!"
He said. I said nothing. Just hold the bowl of porridge in front of you and pour it into the trash bag at your feet right in front of him. He looked at the white porridge flowing down the plastic bag, without any expression. But I opened my mouth:
“Qin Tu Viet, see?”
"In my eyes, you and this bowl of porridge are the same. If you throw it away, then throw it away. I can't pick up food from the trash, and I can't pick up men from the trash."
The next morning, he came again. This time he brought my favorite dish, xiao long bao, and squatted on a low chair far away from me. I don't eat it, I don't throw it away. It's not my food, I have no right to handle it. He stood for a moment, took his phone out of his pocket, looked at it, then put it back in. During the entire process, don't say a word. I finished drinking soy milk, finished eating and tossed. As I was about to stand up, he grabbed me.
“From now on, there will be no more three-person dates, no more messing up your plans in the middle, no more talking about work after work, no more spending the night outside behind my back, also…”
He stopped, his eyes as deep as a cold abyss. Inside is full of shame and regret:
"I will never help others slander you or disappoint you again."
He looked at me, his lips moved, and finally said only three words:
“Sorry.”
“I know.”
I raised my head to look at him. During this time, he lost a lot of weight. The suit, which fits well on the body, seems a bit empty. The skin that was already white is now white to almost transparent. I suddenly remembered that before, when touching skin care cosmetics, I used to hold his face and mutter:
“Why is it so white?”
Unfortunately, I will no longer have the opportunity to meet him.
"Tan Tu Viet, I can't forget the things you and she did to me, and I can't say it's okay."
“Maybe you still have feelings for me, but that shouldn't be a reason for you to hurt me at will.”
“I'm stupid, I'm clumsy, but I'm not a coward.”
“Go away.”
I said:
“Don't come tomorrow.”
A transport truck left the house where I used to live, just bowed its head, and slowly let go of my wrist. I walked to the top of the stairs and looked back. He still stood there place. Behind him is the smoke and fire of the world, only he is like a lonely landscape. On Tuesday, the store was renovated and I went to work normally. I will not continue to torment myself, nor will I harm other companies. Which opened a bakery in front of the residential area gate. Tan Tu Viet sat on the sofa in the living area, quietly looking at me. Watch me knead dough, watch me sprinkle flowers, watch me smile and receive guests. The expression on his face didn't change much, but his eyes were slightly lowered and a little red.
