Chapter 19
Chapter 19 — Nanny Counts Moles
I looked at Tieu Man and An An sleeping at the nurse's station, lowering my voice. "She's still alive." The woman suddenly choked. "She's alive." "But we can't let them find her anymore." I didn't immediately ask. I placed the phone on the table, turned on the recording, and called Tan Man to my side. Looking at my face, Tan Man immediately signaled to continue keeping the other person on the phone. I asked: “Why are you contacting me now?” The woman said: "Because Tran Bach Xuyen was arrested." "Before going there, he arranged for people to go to Nam Cang." "They wanted to take Tieu Tranh away." "My husband hid her, but we couldn't hold out for long." I asked: "How did you take her away that year?" Her voice trembled. "We didn't kidnap her." "The rehabilitation institute told us to go through the adoption procedures." "Full papers, complete seals." "But half a year later, someone came to the door, saying the child couldn't have a household registration, couldn't have a health check, and couldn't let others see the soles of her feet." My heart sank. "What's on the bottom of her feet?" The woman burst into tears. "The code is red." "Don't wash." clean.” “It's like having someone press on your skin right after you were born.” Tan Man immediately wrote two words on paper. Hold the line. I closed my eyes. "Give me the address." The woman immediately said: "No." "As soon as you come, they will also come." I coldly said: "They have already arrived." "If you don't tell me the location, the child will only be in more danger." A burst of noise came from the other end of the line. It's like someone is knocking on the door. The woman's voice immediately became quiet. "I can only give you one location." "Old Nam Cang seafood market, cold storage number three." "Before twelve noon tomorrow, you come alone." "Don't bring the police." "Don't bring Tham Nghien either." I said: "I won't take Tham Nghien." She seemed relieved. "He used to sign." "People that year all said the signer was the dirtiest person." The call was disconnected. I watched the screen go dark, my chest felt heavy. Tan Man backed up the recording and then turned around to find the police. I didn't avoid it. "I have to go to Nam Cang." Tan Man frowned. "You can't go alone." "I know." "So everyone, please arrange people, but don't let my mother and the children know." Tan Man looked at me. "Can you still handle it now?" I looked towards the nurse's station. Even when sleeping, Tieu Man's hand still touches his hair. An An leaned against the back of the chair, her eyebrows frowning, as if she was still hiding from someone in her dream. I said: "If you can't resist, you have to resist." "The children can't wait for the adults to hesitate again." After dawn, I took the two children back to their mother. Mom didn't sleep all night, her eyes were bloodshot. She hugged Tieu Man and looked at An An again. "Are you taking this child home too?" I nodded. "Just bring it home for now." "If anyone comes to claim it, tell them to find Tan Man." Mom didn't ask much, just said: "I'll look after it." Tieu Man held my hand and refused to let go. "Mom, where are you going?" I squatted and pushed aside her tangled hair. "Going to do something I have to do." "When I get back, mom will buy you a small cake." Her eyes were red. "No pumpkin flavor." I smiled, but my throat was extremely sour. "Okay, no pumpkin flavor." An An standing next to me suddenly asked: "Are you coming back?" I looked at her. "Yes." She asked again: "The adults said they would return, would they really return?" I reached out and gently touched her cold little finger. "You keep your word." An An looked at me for a long time before hooking her pinky finger into my hand. When he went out the door, Tham Nghien was waiting downstairs. His eyes were full of blood, his wrist was wrapped in gauze. "I heard you want to go to Nam Cang." I stopped walking. "Who told you?" He smiled bitterly. "The police once asked me about Nam Cang." "Thanh Thanh, let me go with you." I looked at him. "I have no right to decide whether to go or not." His face
he turned pale. "At least let me help you." "If you want to help, hand over all the papers you signed." "Don't keep saying you forgot, don't know, and are fooled again." "From now on, if you hide one sentence, I will put you on the same side as them." Tham Nghien's lips moved slightly. I don't wait for you to explain. Before I got in the car, he suddenly said: "Mrs. Giang still has a son in Nam Cang." I turned my head. "What's the name?" He said a name, then continued: "After Giang Nghi's husband passed away that year, the shares were still suspended." "If it is determined that Tieu Man is the Jiang family's child, they can use their status as guardians to touch that property." "If a third child appears, the hospital incident will be overturned, and the story of the Giang family swapping children that year cannot be hidden." I stared at him. "You already knew what happened. hey." He bowed his head. "I just figured it out last night." I smiled coldly. "You always think it through too late." I sat in the car, not looking at him anymore. On the way to Nam Cang, Tan Man sat next to me. Behind the two civilian vehicles were people arranged by the police. In my hand I held an empty sealed box. On the outside it looked like it contained a blood sample. Actually there is only one navigation device inside.
