Chapter 10 — National Lazy Mother

Updated 10/08/2026 6 min read

I entrust Mien Mien to Chu Thanh Hoa. In the corner of the yard, the camera was quite far away but was still recording. Luc Minh Chau goes straight to the point:

"In Tieu Lam's phone, there is a sum of money someone else transferred to her, noted as the cost of hard work for filming."

I asked:

“Have you found out who yet?”

Luc Minh Chau looked at me:

"Temporarily the trace points to the person next to Trieu Mai."

I raised my eyebrows:

“Not Hua Van Van?”

“Hua Van Van is very smart, will not directly leave traces.”

Luc Minh Chau stopped for a moment.

“Miss Tham, you are not like a normal artist. You handle everything so firmly.”

I laugh:

"It's been a long time, let's practice."

Luc Minh Chau gave me a business card.

“If you need a lawyer, find me.”

I don't accept it. She looked at me:

“Don't you need it?”

I said:

“Let me ask my daughter first if she wants it or not.”

For the first time, Luc Minh Chau laughed.

“No wonder Mien Mien likes you so much.”

When I turned to return to the room, I saw Hua Van Van standing not far away. She stared at the business card Luc Minh Chau gave me, crushing the paper cup in her hand. The next morning, the performance team replaced the general director. The old director was suspended from work. The new director's name is Ha. Before filming, he called all the parents together.

"From today, all questions related to the privacy of minors must be notified in advance to the guardian. All arising tasks must be in writing."

Chu Thanh Hoa was the first to clap. Co Thoi Nghien also followed:

“Finally, something like a decent show.”

Hua Van Van's face was very bad. Because after the director changed, she no longer received previous offers. The mission that day was a sports festival in the village. Events include parent-child relay races, bean picking, and pumpkin transportation. Hua Van Van is not good at these things. She wore a beautiful dress and stood on the edge of a muddy field, frowning so much that she could pinch a mosquito to death. Luc Tieu Da also did not dare to run too fast for fear of getting his shoes dirty. Me and Mien Mien are different. Mien Mien rolled up her pant legs and shouted at me:

“Mom, run slowly, I can't catch up.”

I carried the pumpkin and ran ahead:

“I can't keep up because my legs are short.”

The girl angrily chased after him:

“I'm five years old!”

“Five years should not be blamed on age.”

Co Thoi Nghien next to him laughed until he squatted down:

"Miss Tham, sooner or later your daughter will train to become an iron woman."

Mien Mien caught up and put the small pumpkin in the basket.

“Mom, have we won yet?”

I looked at the time table. Second class. First place is Chu Thanh Hoa and Boi Boi. Normally Boi Boi is very quiet, but when he ran up he was like a small firecracker, almost pulling Chu Thanh Hoa along. Hua Van Van stood last. Trieu Mai stood next to her and stamped her feet impatiently.

"Van Van, what's wrong with you? This is not a good thing!"

Hua Van Van's face was ugly but she didn't dare to argue. Luc Tieu Da bowed his head:

“Grandma, I'm running slow.”

Trieu Mai opened her mouth and scolded:

“You know too!”

Luc Minh Chau is not here, Trieu Mai has regained her fighting strength. I put the pumpkin down and walked over.

“Does scolding a child cause his/her achievements to go back?”

Trieu Mai glared at me:

“What does it have to do with you?”

Luc Tieu Da lowered his voice:

“Aunt Tham.”

Trieu Mai became even angrier:

“Why are you calling her? She hurt my mother Isn't being scolded enough for you?"

Mien Mien ran forward, hands on hips:

“Madam, not being able to accept failure is losing face.”

Trieu Mai was so angry that she blushed:

“Whose family doesn't have such rules!”

I said:

“My child. What, do you want to study?”

Live comments laugh crazy. Director Ha immediately declared:

“Sports festival achievements are for entertainment purposes only, there is no punishment.”

Trieu Mai's face became even more unsightly. She originally wanted Hua Van Van to win first place, taking the opportunity to build an image of gentleness and effort, but now everything is broken. During lunch break, Luc Tieu Da brought water to find Mien Mien.

“For you.”

Mien Mien received:

“Thank you.”

Luc Tieu Da lowered his voice:

"My grandmother scolded you, don't be angry."

Mien Mien thinking:

“She didn't scold me very badly.”

“Isn't that still terrible?”

“My mother's anti-fan scolded me in more ways than one.”

Luc Tieu Da seriously asked:

“What is an anti-fan?”

Mien Mien said:

“Someone who doesn't know you but still tries very hard to hate you.”

Luc Tieu Da was silent for a moment:

“So are they tired?”

Mien Mien took a sip of water:

“Maybe I ate too much.”

The conversation between two children was broadcast live and became a hot search again. Hua Van Van looked at the employee's phone, her face darkening little by little. Before dinner, she proactively looked for me.

“Tri Ha, can we talk?”

I'm washing vegetables:

“Say it.”

She stood next to the water tank, lowering her voice.

“I really don't know about Tieu Lam's story. If you keep clinging to this and not letting go, it won't do you any good."

I break green vegetable leaves:

“Which sentence is talk, which sentence is threatening?”

She gritted her teeth:

“I'm reminding you. In this world, you can't just rely on temporary popularity to stand firm. Just because you have the sympathy of passersby now doesn't mean you will have it in the future."

I looked at her:

“So?”

Hua Van Van took a step closer.

“You should publicly say that you trust me, and let Tieu Lam's story stop here. I can give you the contract to advertise mother and baby products next month.”

I burst out laughing.

"Hua Van Van, are you using the ghost in my daughter's heart in exchange for an advertisement?"

Her face turned cold.

"Tham Tri Ha, people must know when they've had enough and then stop."

I turned off the faucet.

“I have many shortcomings, the biggest one is not knowing when enough is enough and then stopping.”

Hua Van Van stared at me, finally not pretending anymore.

“Do you think Luc Minh Chau helps you win? She just doesn't like Trieu Mai, she doesn't value her. A star who has passed away and brought along a child, does he really think that relying on a few hot searches can turn him around?

I took the vegetable basket and went out. She said behind her back:

“Tham Tri Ha, don't force me.”

I stopped walking.

“If you have any useless tricks left, use them quickly. Tomorrow I have to get up early to fry eggs for Mien Mien, I don't have time to wait forever for you."

Hua Van Van's face completely darkened. That evening, a recording suddenly appeared online. In the recording is my voice.

“I joined this program to become famous again. What's wrong with Mien Mien understanding things? Children sooner or later have to share the burden with adults.”

The attached image is the back of me and Hua Van Van talking next to the water tank during the day. The topic immediately exploded. Tham Tri Ha took advantage of his daughter to become famous again. Tham Tri Ha admitted that she forced her children to share the burden. Mien Mien is a tool. The performance team took away the phone, but the guests could still look at the staff's faces to guess the direction of public opinion. Director Ha called me into a small room.

“Miss Tham, this recording is very disadvantageous for you.”

I asked:

“Does the performance team have a recording device next to the water tank?”

Director Ha nodded:

“Yes, but it takes time to extract.”
