Chapter 16 — No Resentment, No Forgiveness

Updated 10/08/2026 1 min read

And what of those people? As for them... I have long since forgotten.

The memories have withered like fallen leaves caught in a winter gale, scattering into the vast, indifferent expanse of time. Faces that once held the warmth of hearth fires and voices that once echoed with promises of eternity have dissolved into a grey, soundless mist. It is a strange mercy, this erosion of the past—a silent reclamation of the soul by the void. What once felt like a heavy anchor dragging against the seabed of my consciousness has finally slipped its chain, leaving me drifting in a hollow, tranquil sea.

There is no ache left, only the cold, crystalline clarity of emptiness. Those names, those shared sorrows, and those fleeting moments of fragile joy are now nothing more than ghosts trapped in a mirror I shattered years ago. They exist in a realm beyond my reach, and quite frankly, beyond my desire to reclaim. I have walked through the ruins of my own history until the stones themselves turned to dust beneath my feet. I am finally unburdened, untethered from the ghosts of who I used to be. I do not remember them. I do not wish to. I have let them go, and in the silence that follows, I have finally found my peace.

— THE END —
