Chapter 10
Chapter 10 — Once I am reborn, I will not give him even a strand of hair
The yard immediately fell silent. Co Nghien Hanh stared at that black eagle, his voice cold and heavy.
“The same seal was on the enemy's password captured three years ago.”
"These documents were not smuggled out from the General's palace, but someone brought them into the capital to accuse the Co family of crimes."
However, Mr. Phung remained calm and leisurely.
“Even if the documents are fake, how can we explain these two potions?”
Doctor Truong Thai was invited to the front yard, opened one of the two jars, and immediately closed the lid after just smelling it.
“Same source as the poison the General was exposed to.”
Tong Uyen Nhu cried and rushed to the old lady's feet.
“Mother, someone wants to harm me and also wants to harm my brother.”
"There are people coming in and out of Thinh Vu Cac every day. That box couldn't have been hidden by you."
I suddenly asked:
“Where is your close maid?”
Tong Uyen Nhu's crying stopped for a moment.
"Last night she said she had a stomach ache, but today she still hasn't shown her face."
“So why is her name embroidered on the piece of cloth in Do ma ma's hand?”
“I don't know.”
Tong Uyen Nhu shook her head vigorously.
"My cousin, you can't think that everything has something to do with me just because Ma Luc used to drive a car for me."
Co Nghien Hanh looked at her right hand. The blue mark made by the yellow needle the day before had faded, but a very small wound was still visible.
“Did you really go into the pharmacy yesterday just to get some calming incense?”
Tong Uyen Nhu looked at him dumbfounded, as if she didn't expect him to question her right in front of everyone.
“Brother, don't you even believe me?”
She bit her lip, her voice trembling.
“I couldn't sleep, so I wanted to come get some incense.”
I walked in front of the iron box and pulled out a flattened osmanthus petal from inside.
“Thin Vu Cac does not use osmanthus incense, but Tung Hac Duong uses this incense all year round to scent clothes.”
"Someone took Mother Do's clothes first, then brought the box into Thinh Vu Pavilion, the purpose was not just to slander Miss Tong."
My eyes scanned the crowd, landing on the manager who was always standing behind the old lady.
"Just now, the manager said that two hours ago, Mother Do came to the payment room to receive her monthly payment."
“How can a dead person sign his name in front of you?”
The manager's face immediately turned pale. He suddenly pulled out a short sword from his sleeve, turned around and stabbed straight at the old lady. Co Nghien Hanh tried to force himself to block in front of his mother, but the tip of the knife immediately sank into his shoulder. But the manager leaned close to his ear and spoke in a low voice.
“General, the seventeen lives in Tay Canh that you owe... it's time to pay.”
Thach Thanh kicked away the short sword in the manager's hand, took advantage of the situation, twisted his hand, and pressed it hard into the puddle. The wound on Co Nghiem Hanh's shoulder kept bleeding, but the blood flowing out was no longer bright red, but mixed with black clots. Doctor Truong Thai quickly stepped forward to seal the acupuncture point, but when his fingertips touched his veins, his face immediately sank.
“The toxicity has pressed against the heart.”
“Only one day left at most.”
The old lady supported Co Nghien Hanh, while crying, urged me to save people. I didn't step closer, I just told the guard to unhook the manager's jaw to avoid him from biting the pill hidden between his teeth. The manager was tied to a pillar in the hallway, but his eyes were always staring at Co Nghien Hanh.
“Seventeen boxes in Bach Thao Duong, originally containing life-saving medicine, were transferred to the invalid barracks in Tay Canh.”
“General, do you dare tell her where that medicine went in the future?”
Co Nghien Hanh leaned against the back of the chair, his forehead covered with cold sweat.
"Someone swapped that medicine in the middle of the road."
“By the time I got there, all the escorts were dead.”
The manager grinned, a trail of blood running down from the corner of his lips.
“You knew clearly that there were people in the capital responding, yet you still burned the list, suppressed the military report, and even married the only survivor of the Khuong family.”
"He didn't marry her to protect her, but because he was afraid that she would find him after the evidence."
I slowly turned my head to look at him.
“What he said... is it true?”
Co Nghien Hanh looked at the white jade hairpin in my hair, then spoke a long time later.
"That list cannot be brought back to the scriptures."
"Those whose names are on the list holding military food, weapons and even mobilization orders on the border, once they know the evidence is still there, hundreds of thousands of Northern Canh troops will be deprived of food and grass."
"So you burned the list and kept my parents' deaths a secret for seven years."
“After returning to the capital, I always secretly investigated.”
“Marrying me... is also part of that investigation?”
Co Nghien Hanh did not deny it. Rainwater fell along the eaves, as if weaving a cold water curtain between the two of them.
