Chapter 7 — Once I am reborn, I will not give him even a strand of hair

Ngo Thanh has disappeared without a trace, on the wall there is only a stone door that is not completely closed. I no longer had the heart to chase after him, so I immediately took off my cloak and wrapped it around that person's head. A piece of burned beam broke from the top of the house and fell loudly. Thach Thanh swung his knife to slash the beam, rushed into the underground bunker, and grabbed my arm.

“If we don't leave, no one will be able to escape.”

I hugged my cloak tightly and followed him through the sea of fire. As soon as the two rushed out of the store, the Bach Thao Street behind them collapsed loudly. The hot air blew up the stone steps in front of the door, sending broken tiles several feet farther. The guards looked at the piece of rope Ngo Thanh left in their hands, their faces extremely ugly.

“The tunnel leads to the outside of the city, he has escaped.”

The wound on Thach Thanh's shoulder cracked open again, blood dripped onto the ground from his wrist. But he didn't bother to bandage it, he just stared intently at the thing in my heart.

“Who is that?”

I lifted my cloak and took out the white jade brooch that had been blackened by the fire.

“My mother.”

Thach Thanh's face immediately stiffened.

“Didn't Mrs. Khuong die from falling into the abyss?”

“Some people want us to believe that she died from falling off a cliff.”

I wiped the handle of the brooch clean, and there was a very small word "Tu" engraved there. Those are the words my mother hand-carved when I was born. I clasped the white jade brooch in my palm.

“Bring out the medicine boxes from the underground bunker and store them in a private place.”

“What was seen tonight, no one is allowed to reveal to the old lady.”

Thach Thanh hesitantly asked:

“Does the General's side also have to hide it?”

“You can tell him.”

I looked at Bach Thao Duong still engulfed in flames.

“But if he wants to know more, tell him to come ask me himself.”

When everyone returned to the General's palace, the eastern horizon was dimly white. Tung Hac Duong was brightly lit, the yard was full of kneeling servants. Doctor Truong Thai was doing acupuncture in the room, and Co Nghien Hanh's screams of pain echoed through the window and door into the hallway. As soon as the old lady saw me returning, she immediately rushed up the steps.

“Where is the medicine?”

“No medicine.”

“So where is the jade order?”

“Someone stole it.”

I didn't stop, just kept going straight to my hospital. The old lady suddenly grabbed my cloak. The cloak opened, and the human head wrapped inside rolled straight to the ground. Suddenly there were screams of terror all around. As soon as Tong Uyen Nhu saw the person's head clearly, her legs became weak and her whole body fell to the ground. I caught the flash of fear that just flashed in her eyes. It wasn't the disgust of seeing a rotting body. It's the panic of the person who recognized the dead person.

“Have you ever met my mother?”

Tong Uyen Nhu frantically shook her head.

"Do not have."

“When Lady Khuong passed away, I had not yet arrived at the capital.”

“I... was just scared.”

I picked up the white jade hairpin from the ground and slowly walked towards her.

“If you've never met, then how do you know it's Mrs. Khuong?”

Tong Uyen Nhu's breath immediately choked. The old lady immediately shouted loudly:

“Just now you said it was your mother.”

“When I said who it was, Miss Tong hadn't even entered the yard yet.”

I stared at Tong Uyen Nhu's increasingly pale face.

“So you heard the word where?"

Tong Uyen Nhu opened her mouth but couldn't say a word, tears quickly fell.

“It was the maid who told me.”

The maid followed behind her and quickly knelt down.

“This slave has never said that.”

A look of doubt finally appeared on the old lady's face.

“Uyen Nhu, what do you even know?”

“Miss, I really don't know anything.”

Tong Uyen Nhu stood up and staggered into Tung Hac Duong.

“My cousin is awake, he can testify for me.”

The interior suddenly heard the sound of broken porcelain. The door of the room was pushed open by someone from inside, Co Nghien Hanh held the door frame and stood in the darkness. His chest was wrapped in thick layers of white bandage, his face was as white as paper. My eyes passed everyone, stopping on the white jade brooch in my hand.

“Have you been to Bach Thao Hall?”

I saw the same familiar look in his eyes. We walked step by step to the bottom of the steps.

“It turns out the General also recognized this brooch.”

Co Nghien Hanh did not answer, just turned to Thach Thanh and said:

“Get everyone back down.”

The old lady refused to leave.

“Ngheng Hanh, the poison in your body has not been suppressed yet.”

“This is related to the Tay Canh military case in the past.”

Co Nghiem Hanh's voice was low.

“Mother should not listen.”

Tong Uyen Nhu stood next to him, her fingers tightening her shirt. I suddenly raised my hand and pointed towards her.

“So why can she stay?”

Co Nghien Hanh looked in the direction my hand was pointing.

“Uyen Nhu also retreated.”

Tong Uyen Nhu raised her head, her face full of disbelief.

“Big brother, I can take care of you.”

"Go out."

She bit her lip, cried, and ran out of the yard.
