Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — One month before the wedding, the fiance registered to marry Bach Nguyet Quang
Two o'clock in the afternoon. I entered the meeting room. On the table were more than ten rejected designs. The headquarters is set to launch a new high jewelry collection in a month. The original lead designer suddenly quit. I was transferred... To take over this mess. General Manager Lam pushed the documents in front of me.
"One month."
"Can you do it?"
I opened the first blueprint.
"Can do it."
The meeting lasted from afternoon to nine o'clock in the evening. When I got back to the apartment... I just reinserted the SIM card. Dozens of missed calls immediately appeared. At the top of the list... Is Chu Tu Bach's mother. She called me more than twenty times. I just opened the voice message... Her voice, trying to suppress her anger, rang out.
"Tri Y, what do you want to do?"
"To say annulment is to annul the marriage."
"The hotel even called to ask for compensation for breach of contract."
"Tu Bach has agreed to divorce that girl."
"What else do you want him to do?"
"Now you're going abroad and throwing this whole mess back to the Chu family."
"Don't you think you're too irresponsible?"
After listening to the last message... I called back. The phone was picked up almost immediately.
"Tham Tri Y, are you finally answering the phone?"
I interrupted her.
"I booked the hotel."
"I also contacted the wedding organizer."
"The compensation according to the contract, I have paid in full."
"I won't leave any mess for the Chu family."
"As for the guests..."
"I will explain myself."
Her voice stopped.
"How are you going to explain?"
"Tell them..."
"The groom is already married."
"I dare!"
Her voice suddenly rose high.
"This story was only known to a few of us."
"Do you have to make everyone laugh at Tu Bach before you agree?"
"The person registering the marriage..."
"It's him."
"So why..."
"The one responsible for losing face is you?"
"I've always considered you as my own daughter."
"This time it is true that Chu Tu Bach did not do it right, but which man has never been confused when he was young?"
"Van Tinh is about to go abroad, from now on it won't affect the two of you anymore."
“She won't go anymore.”
The other end of the line was silent for a moment.
“What do you mean?”
“She is your legal daughter-in-law.”
“Whether it's going to the cemetery or entering the Chu family's door, the one who should go is her.”
I hung up. Then reopen the previous guest group. The group is still discussing how to pick up guests on the wedding day. I sent a notification.
"Dear aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters, friends and relatives, the wedding scheduled for the twenty-eighth of this month is cancelled."
"The reason is that the groom Chu Tu Bach registered his marriage with Ms. Trinh Van Tinh two days ago."
“For this sudden change that has affected everyone, I sincerely apologize.”
The group was silent for nearly half a minute. Immediately after that, messages continuously appeared. Someone asked if this was a joke. Someone asked if my account had been hacked. Chu Tu Bach's uncle even directly called him by name in the group.
“Tu Bach, what is this?”
I sent a photo of two people standing in front of the Civil Affairs Department to the group. Then text one more sentence.
“Everything is true.”
Chu Nghien immediately called me. I don't answer the phone. A minute later, Chu Tu Bach used a strange phone number to call.
“Exam Tri Y.”
His breathing was very heavy.
“Why did you send that photo to the group?”
“To announce the annulment to everyone.”
“You know I will divorce Van Tinh!”
“Then wait until the divorce is over and then announce it.”
“Do you have to ruin my reputation to accept it?”
I looked at the unfamiliar street outside the window.
“Chu Tu Bach.”
“Your reputation was destroyed from the moment you entered the Civil Affairs Bureau.”
“But not since I told the truth.”
He was silent for a few seconds. The voice gradually calmed down.
“Where are you now?”
“Send me the address.”
“You should rest for a few days first.”
"Wait until I take Van Tinh to the end of the trip and then come pick you up."
I gently closed my eyes. In the end... He still went. Even though I dragged my suitcase and left the house. Even though the wedding was completely cancelled. He still couldn't bear to let Trinh Van Tinh down.
“Chu Tu Bach.”
“I don't need to come.”
“I'm not waiting for you to make a choice.”
“I have already chosen for myself.”
I hung up. Then block that phone number. Ten minutes later, Duong Duong sent me a screenshot of the post on my friends circle. Trinh Van Tinh is standing on the beach. The wind blew her white dress. In the photo there is only her alone. But on the sand... There are two shadows standing side by side. The status line reads:
“The tour that came twelve years late... has finally begun.”
I don't answer.
