Chapter 24 — Passionate About A Twisted Love

The purple bougainvillea garden at Thao Dien villa, after many months of careful restoration, was finally blooming as brightly as Nha Dan remembered from childhood. Each trellis of purple bougainvillea flowers covered the walkway, their delicate petals fluttering in the morning breeze, creating a poetic scene like something out of a fairy tale, where two children in the past used to chat carefree in the shade, never expecting that fate would lead their lives through many ups and downs and then return to this right place, on the most important day of their lives.

Nha Dan stood in front of the mirror in the dressing room, wearing a uniquely designed pure white wedding dress, the delicate lace hugged her slender figure, and the skirt of the dress stretched gracefully. Mrs. Xuan Lan stood behind, meticulously adjusting each fold of the veil, her eyes shining with happiness as if she were watching her own daughter prepare to walk down the aisle.

"You are very beautiful, like a princess in a fairy tale," Ms. Xuan Lan said, her voice choked with emotion.

"Thank you, grandma, for everything you've done for me all this time." Nha Dan turned around and hugged the housekeeper who had become an indispensable part of her family in her life.

Quynh Chi, as the main bridesmaid, quickly ran into the room, holding a wedding bouquet made from purple bougainvillea flowers in the garden. "It's done, all the guests have arrived, just waiting for our beautiful bride."

Outside the garden, hundreds of guests were seated on rows of white chairs neatly arranged on both sides of the aisle covered with purple bougainvillea petals. Ms. Anh Tuyet sat in the front row, wearing an elegant emerald green silk ao dai, her face radiant with happiness, with no trace of her previous years of illness and suffering. Cao Tuyet Mai and Cao Viet Hung sat in the opposite row, representing the Cao family, along with many partners and close friends of both families.

Thien Lam stood waiting at the end of the aisle, wearing an elegant white suit, his appearance was solemn but his eyes sparkled with anticipation that was hard to hide. Phan Dinh Long stood next to him as the best man, gently patting his friend's shoulder in encouragement. "nervous? never seen you like this."

"This is the most important moment of my life." Thien Lam replied, his voice trembling slightly with emotion, a rare thing for a man who is always calm and in control of every situation.

The opening music sounded, the large wooden door of the villa slowly opened, Nha Dan appeared in a gorgeous wedding dress, holding her mother's arm and walking slowly step by step down the path strewn with purple confetti petals. Her eyes did not leave Thien Lam who was waiting at the end of the aisle, while he also stood silently, ecstatic at the radiant beauty of the bride in this sacred moment.

When Mrs. Anh Tuyet gave her daughter's hand to Thien Lam, she held his hand, her eyes were stern but full of trust. "Please take good care of Nha Dan, she has suffered many disadvantages since she was young, now is the time for you to compensate her with the best things."

"I promise, auntie." Thien Lam bowed his head, his voice solemn and sincere.

The two people stood facing each other in front of the officiant, surrounded by brilliant purple bougainvillea flowers, under the clear blue sky of a beautiful Saigon morning. The officiant started the ceremony, and when it came to exchanging vows, Thien Lam held Nha Dan's hands, his eyes earnestly looking deep into her eyes.

"Nha Dan, from the day you knelt down in front of me, begging me to save your mother, I never thought that my life would turn in a completely different direction. I once thought that I was using you as a tool of revenge, but it turned out, it was you who saved my heart, freeing me from twelve years of being immersed in hatred and suffering. I promise to spend the rest of my life loving, cherishing and protecting you, not because of any contract or obligation. But because you are my destiny, an indispensable half of my life."

Happy tears rolled down Nha Dan's cheeks, she clasped his hands in hers before answering the vow, her voice trembled at each word but never broke. "Thien Lam, our journey began with a desperate plea, went through many misunderstandings, suffering and even malicious plots that almost separated us forever. But I have never regretted entering your life, because thanks to that, I have found not only justice for my family, but also true love, a real home after many years of loneliness and hardship. I promise to always be by your side, with you. build a happy, complete future, completely eliminating the painful price that both families had to pay."

When the two exchanged wedding rings, applause and blessings echoed throughout the garden. Thien Lam caressed Nha Dan's face, placed a gentle kiss on her lips, officially closing the twelve-year cycle of hatred between the two families, opening a new beginning full of love.

At the reception, Mr. Trinh Khai Minh and Ms. Ho Dieu Thuy, two important witnesses who contributed to revealing the entire truth, were also invited to attend as honored guests. Both were moved to witness the perfect ending of the story they helped write, seeing the true meaning of the courage to speak the truth, even if it means waiting twelve years.

The post-wedding reception took place right in the garden, under the shimmering lights hanging throughout the purple bougainvillea trellises as night fell. Nha Dan and Thien Lam took their first dance steps together as husband and wife, their eyes only for each other, as if there was nothing else around them other than the two of them.

Quynh Chi stood next to Phan Dinh Long, raised a glass of wine to congratulate, and smiled teasingly. "Look at the two of them, who would have thought that the story would have such a beautiful ending, from a cold marriage contract to a wedding filled with love like this."

"True love always finds its own path, no matter how difficult the starting point is." Phan Dinh Long replied, his eyes followed the couple passionately dancing, his heart could not help but feel emotional as he remembered the long journey he had silently witnessed.

Late at night, when the party was over, Nha Dan and Thien Lam stood alone in a corner of the garden, looking at the starry sky sparkling above their heads. Nha Dan leaned her head on her husband's shoulder, her hand gently touching the old sandalwood bracelet, now worn with a sparkling wedding ring on the same wrist, symbolizing a love that has gone through all the challenges to become steadfast.

"Do you know," Thien Lam said softly, his voice warm in the quiet night, "once upon a time, when I gave you this bracelet, I wished that it would bring you luck for the rest of your life. I never thought that, fourteen years later, that bracelet would lead me back to you, so that we can have today."

"Perhaps that is the most precious gift I have ever given you." Nha Dan smiled, looking up at him with eyes full of love. "Not because of its material value, but because it carries a promise of lasting love, overcoming all storms to find each other."

Thien Lam bent down and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. They both looked up at the starlit night sky. Somewhere, perhaps the souls of their two deceased fathers were also smiling and witnessing, pleased to see that the twelve-year-long enmity between the two families had finally been completely resolved, giving way to a sincere love, a new beginning full of hope for the next generation.

The price of a plea from years ago has now been exchanged for complete happiness, a reunited family, and a true love that both people had to go through many hardships to reach. No more hatred, no more injustice, no more long nights of tears due to humiliation or fear, only a true home remains, where two people who once stood on opposite sides of the battle line have now become one, continuing to write new, peaceful and complete pages of life together.

And in that brilliant purple bougainvillea garden, under the gentle moonlight of Saigon, the love story of Vu Nha Dan and Cao Thien Lam officially closed a tearful chapter to open a new chapter, a chapter of eternal, lasting happiness.
