After ensuring that Nuan Nuan was sound asleep in her hospital room, Shen Yuming and Su Qing stepped outside and pulled the door shut behind them. Shen Yuming lowered his voice, his tone grim.

"Chu Bihua has been officially detained," he stated. "During the initial interrogation, she confessed to kidnapping Nuan Nuan and admitted to harboring intentions of harming both the child and you. However, she insists that she acted entirely alone. She claims it has nothing to do with Gu Dingshen or Lin Weiwei."

"A truly devoted mother," I remarked with a cold laugh. "She is willing to shoulder the entire burden just to shield her son."

Su Qing took up the narrative, her eyes sharp and focused. "Gu Dingshen is already aware of the news, and his reaction has been volatile. However, he is currently under police surveillance and is unable to visit Chu Bihua for the time being. This is likely the perfect opportunity to close in on Lin Weiwei."

I turned to look at her. "With Chu Bihua in custody and Gu Dingshen struggling to keep his own situation stable, the Gu family is in complete disarray. Lin Weiwei is currently isolated, with nowhere left to turn. She must be consumed by fear and uncertainty."

"We have received intelligence," Su Qing continued, "that after learning Chu Bihua’s kidnapping attempt failed and that she now faces serious criminal charges, Gu Dingshen threw a violent tantrum in his office, smashing furniture to pieces. He has ordered his men to ransack Lin Weiwei’s living quarters, specifically searching for that locked box."

My heart skipped a beat. So, it was true; Gu Dingshen had begun to suspect Lin Weiwei and had already taken action.

"Where is Lin Weiwei now?" I asked.

"She is at the Gu family estate," Su Qing replied. "Gu Dingshen’s men failed to locate the box, suggesting that Lin Weiwei has been preparing for this contingency for some time. Currently, she is like an ant on a hot pan—frantically trying to uncover the status of Chu Bihua while simultaneously scrambling to find an escape route for herself."

Shen Yuming frowned, voicing his apprehension. "Lin Weiwei is not a simple woman. If she is pushed into a corner, she is capable of anything."

"That is exactly why," Su Qing said, turning her gaze toward me, "we need your cooperation, Ye. But you will not have to meet her in person."

She produced a specially modified phone, completely devoid of any markings or identification. "Use this for one-way communication. We will mimic the circumstances surrounding Chu Bihua and send her messages to lure her to a pre-arranged, secure location. Once she arrives, our operatives will intervene, either to seize the box or to extract key information."

I looked at her, searching for the intent behind her plan. "You want me to exploit the moment when her mental state is most fragile? To use this phone, or perhaps a voice-modulated recording, to deliver the final blow that forces her to crumble and confess to everything we need?"

"Exactly," Su Qing nodded. "Our analysis suggests that Lin Weiwei harbors very complex feelings toward you—a mixture of jealousy, contempt, and perhaps a flicker of guilt that she refuses to acknowledge. You are the person who understands the Gu family best, and you are the one she would least expect to hear from. When she realizes that Gu Dingshen has begun to suspect her and has even searched her room, while the only person who holds her secrets, Chu Bihua, is in dire straits, the information you provide will be viewed as either her last lifeline or a poisoned dagger."

Su Qing’s voice remained calm and detached, as if she were breaking down the logistics of a battlefield. I fell into a deep silence.
