Chapter 9 — Queen of the Apocalypse

My father's face changed.

“What do you want to do?”

I did not answer. Because I don't know myself. In the distance, suddenly came the sound of a car engine. Not one. Which is a lot of pieces. Car lights circled out from behind the mountainside, illuminating half the sky. My father stood up, flames flaring in his palms.

“People of the base.” He said, “came to find you.”

I stood still, watching the car lights get closer and closer. In the warehouse behind, my mother and my brother also rushed out. Four people from a family stood in front of the abandoned warehouse, surrounded by more than ten military vehicles. The car lights were so bright, so bright that I couldn't open my eyes. From the loudspeaker came a voice:

"Van Van! You have been surrounded! You carry the zombie virus on your body, which is a source of high-level danger! Surrender immediately, receive quarantine inspection! Otherwise we will apply coercive measures!"

My brother stood in front of me. My mother's ice wall is condensing. My father's fire burned more intensely. But I know, three S-rank people, they can't beat these people. It's not because of insufficient strength. It's because they are tired. From yesterday to today, they hardly rested at all. On the other side, there are dozens of A-level and B-level ability users in their best condition. The loudspeaker rang out again:

"Chu Le, Trieu Han, To Than! You are covering a high-risk target and have violated base safety rules! Now order you to move away immediately, otherwise it will be dealt with immediately!"

My father did not move. My brother did not move. My mother also did not move. I stood behind them, looking at those three silhouettes. Suddenly I remembered three months ago, when I hid in the library, waiting for them to come pick me up. I felt so reassured then. As long as they come, I will be safe. Now they are still blocking my face. But this time, the opponent is no longer a zombie. But they are the same species. Being "human". I closed my eyes. In my heart, I said to the undead wandering in the distance — Come here. They come very quickly. Much faster than I thought. When the first wave of zombies appeared on the mountainside, military vehicles had not yet had time to react. When the second wave came from both flanks, the supernatural beings began to panic. Third wave — The third wave descended directly from the sky. Not really able to fly. Is overlapping. Is your husband. Thousands, tens of thousands of zombies use their bodies to pile up into mountains, pass over military vehicles, and then smash down from above. A shrill scream rang out from the loudspeaker.

“Wave of zombies! Another wave of zombies!”

“No way! Haven't they already retreated!”

"The mother body! It's that mother body! It can summon undead!"

The supernatural beings began to counterattack. Walls of fire, walls of ice, lightning, metal storms—all kinds of supernatural lights flared up again. But this time, the zombies did not retreat. No matter how many are killed, there are still more left. They bowed their heads and rushed towards me. Not for biting people. But to come to me. I stood in front of the warehouse door, my yellow eyes shining like two lights in the dark. A zombie rushed in front of me, stopped, and knelt down. Second child. Third child. One hundredth child. One thousandth child. Half an hour later, the military vehicle was submerged. Not destroyed, but surrounded. The zombies were so dense that they surrounded each car to the point where not even a drop of water could leak out, but not a single one attacked the people in the car. They just kneel. Kneel towards me. On the loudspeaker, the voice that had just been domineering now trembled like leaves falling in the wind.

"To Van... To Van! You, what do you want to do! You are anti-human!"

I walked through the group of kneeling zombies to the nearest military vehicle. Behind the window glass, a frightened face was looking at me.

“Open the door.” I said.

The door opens. I passed by the mutant cowering in the corner, then walked to the back of the car. In the trunk of the car, there was a person tied up. The man wears glasses. He saw me, his eyes widened wider than a bronze bell.

"You, you can't kill me! I'm a researcher! I'm the hope of humanity!"

“Hope for humanity?” I looked at him, "When you experimented on me, did you ever think I was human?"

He opened his mouth, unable to speak. I turned around and got out of the car. Outside the car door, thousands and thousands of zombies kneeled on the ground, waiting for my orders. My mother stood at the warehouse door, her whole body shaking. My father clenched his fist, the fire flickered in and out. My brother looked at me, his eyes so complicated that he couldn't see through them. The loudspeaker rang again. This time change people. It was the voice of leader Zhou.

"To Van... Miss To... us, let's talk properly."

I raised my head and looked at the car lights on the mountainside.

“Say what?”

“Your identity… your ability… we can cooperate!”

“Cooperation?” I laughed, "Just now you said I was a high-risk target."

“It was a misunderstanding! Just a misunderstanding!”
