Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Seven Years of Silence, One Life of Freedom
Carry a patience that feels like it's about to crumble. It's Tran Thieu Quan. I stopped walking. But don't turn back.
"I won."
He spoke slowly.
"In this game."
"But don't forget."
"This company was built by me."
"More than a thousand days and nights."
"You can veto the plan."
"You can chase Hieu San."
"But you..."
"Can't replace you."
I just turned around. Tran Thieu Quan raised his head and looked at me. Red blood was clearly visible in his eyes.
"No one..."
"Be able to sit firmly in that position."
I quietly looked at him. For three seconds.
"I don't need to replace you."
I calmly looked at him.
"I just need..."
The meeting room door was suddenly pushed open from the outside. Wei Nhien stood at the door, his expression a bit strange. She spoke up.
"There's someone downstairs who wants to see you."
Wei Nhien hesitated for a moment.
"He said..."
"My name is Chu Dinh Van."
"Said I had an appointment with you."
I have never dated him. But I know... Why did he come? The chess piece he installed next to Lam Hieu San... Was just removed by me. He appeared in person. Hearing the name Chu Dinh Van, Tran Thieu Quan suddenly raised his head. His eyes moved from my face to the door. Then return again. There was surprise in those eyes. There is outrage. And there is a more complex emotion. Finally... He realized. For the past seven years... There has existed a net that he has never seen. It was always silently hanging right under his feet. And the one who spread that net... It was me. I turned around and went downstairs. As soon as the elevator door opened. I saw Chu Dinh Van. He stood in the middle of the first floor hall. He was wearing a dark gray cashmere coat, his hands stuffed in his pockets. Over forty years old. The face is very carefully cared for. The corners of the lips always hang a calm smile typical of the business world. Standing behind him are two assistants wearing suits. Each person carries a briefcase. Just saw me stepping out of the elevator. He smiled.
"Arrived faster than I thought."
"Mr. Chu's speed is not slow either."
I walked over. Stopped three steps away from him.
"Lam Hieu San's resignation procedures have not yet been completed."
"You're already there."
Chu Dinh Van's smile stopped for a moment. Then quickly return to the way it was.
"News spreads pretty quickly."
"It was she who called you, right?"
Chu Dinh Van did not deny it. Don't admit it either. He just changed the subject.
"Let's find somewhere to sit and talk?"
"There's a cafe right downstairs."
"The environment is also quite quiet."
"No need."
I still stood in place.
"Say it right here."
In the lobby on the first floor, there were quite a few employees going back and forth. Someone recognized me. They unconsciously slowed their steps and quietly looked over. Chu Dinh Van glanced around. The smile on my lips gradually disappeared.
"You handled things very beautifully today."
"But I still want to remind you one thing."
"What do you want to remind me?"
"Lin Hieu San..."
"After all, it's just an individual."
"She left."
"Does not affect the overall situation."
He looked straight at me. His eyes were a bit more serious.
"Thua Thinh's diagnostic equipment segment..."
"40% of the supply chain is tied to businesses that are related to me."
"Whether Lam Hieu San is still there or not."
"That connection still exists at."
I didn't speak up.
"Do you think..."
"If you just evict one person, you can clean me up?"
Chu Dinh Van laughed softly.
"Market..."
"It's not that simple."
"So you came here today..."
"Is it to threaten me?"
He took a half step back. Returning to the same peaceful appearance.
"I came to invite you to cooperate."
"In your hands you have control."
"I have the supply chain in my hands."
"Everyone has their own cards."
"There's no need to cause both losses."
"I will consider it."
He nodded.
"I'm waiting to hear from you."
He turned and left. Two assistants followed closely behind. The sound of leather shoes tapping on the marble floor was steady, neither fast nor slow. When going to the turnstile. He suddenly turned his head.
"Ah yes, Miss To."
"What's going on?"
"Your grandfather can stop me..."
"It's because he has a complete team of lawyers behind him."
"Backed by three alliance investors."
He stopped.
"And now..."
"Behind you..."
He walked through the turnstile. Leave the hall. The space returned to quiet again. I stood still. Quietly watch the door rotate slowly back to its original position. Wei Nhien stepped out of the elevator. Quickly come next to me.
"What did he say?"
"He said..."
"40% of the supply chain is in his hands."
Wei Nhien was silent for two seconds.
"This number..."
"Perhaps it's not an exaggeration."
"Based on last year's shopping data."
"There are indeed several core suppliers connected to the corporate ecosystem of Teng Due Investment Fund."
I nodded slightly.
"Help me make an appointment with someone."
"Tham Tue."
