Chapter 5 — Ten Tickets and Blood Debt

Bach was arrested, but ticket 07 was still missing.

He claimed to have given the ticket to a man named Son, who used to be a welder in the factory. Son fled immediately after the warehouse caught fire. Police found his car in an empty lot, with bloody clothes in the trunk.

Van doesn't believe Son killed Loc, but Loc is still missing.

Hau gave her an old key. "Your father used to hide the files under the floor of the boarding house. He never dared to open them."

Van returned to the house that had been confiscated. Under the board, she found a metal box containing photos of workers and a report of the welding furnace explosion. Her father discovered Hau and Bach's money withdrawal system and was about to denounce it when he was pushed into a dangerous area.

At the end of the report, he wrote: **If I die, do not take revenge on a person. Pull the whole line into the light.**

When Van read that, her anger suddenly took on a different shape. She didn't want to stab anyone; She wanted them to have nowhere to hide.

Phuc found an address in Son's call history: an old boat repair workshop. They arrived and found Son taking care of the injured Loc.

Son said Loc took the ticket to save his mother, but was chased by Bach. Bill 07 was torn in two during the struggle, half fell into the river.

“Where is the other half?” Van asked.

Loc gave her the ticket with the receipt stamp. "Bach didn't know we changed the pieces. The real piece is in the notebook he keeps."

Van understood that the scrap book was just a primer. The original is in Bach's safe.

Son asked if she was going to take it back. Van replied: "I won't take it. I will make him open it himself."

They sent Bach a fake message: the ticket had been verified, the person holding the remaining piece wanted to exchange money.

Bach took the bait and made an appointment at the port warehouse.

Van did not tell Hau the plan. She was afraid he would warn Bach, even though she wasn't sure whose side he was on. Phuc took a small camera from Hanh and hid it in a hanger. Loc, still suffering from a headache after the fire, agreed to be a witness.

The port warehouse has three entrances and a sewer leading to the river. Van chose the middle path, where the broken light made it difficult for others to see her hands. She brought along a fake ticket and a blank book, and the real evidence was automatically sent to the lawyer if the phone lost signal.

Bach arrived early, accompanied by two people. He placed a bag of money on the table, but the bag was so light that Van knew it was only paper.

“Where is the ticket?”

"Your safe has the original book. I want to see it first."

Bach smirked. “You think you're the buyer?”

“I'm the one holding the thing that put you in jail.”

He signaled someone to open the safe. Phuc captured each page through the door. Loc heard the name of a dead worker and immediately shook his hands.

Bach discovered a figure on the roof, but Van pulled him into the conversation. She asked about her father, about the explosion, and the red-gloved woman. He blurted out that her name was Lan and she worked for an insurance company.

Phuc sent the picture. The police entered from the sewer.

Bach realized and snatched the gun from his belt. Van stepped back, keeping his eyes on her, while Loc kicked the paint can toward the door.

The sound of rapid footsteps rang out. Bach pulled the trigger and shouted: "The ticket can't save anyone!"

Van replied: "No. But it is possible."
