Chapter 29
Chapter 29 — The 12th-Floor Kitchen Contract
Ten years have passed since the day Diem Tram first walked into the kitchen of Cam Luong restaurant with fifty desserts to save a rushed wedding party, marking a long and meaningful journey that she never dared to imagine when she was a young girl worried about the survival of her family bakery. Now, at the age of thirty-eight, she has become one of the most influential female entrepreneurs in the culinary industry, while still maintaining her role as a devoted mother and wife in a small family full of happiness.
On a clear autumn morning, the whole family got together to prepare for a special event — the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the partnership between Diem Tram bakery and Cam Luong restaurant, and also the tenth wedding anniversary of Diem Tram and Khang. The event was held right at Cam Luong restaurant, where their entire meaningful love story was witnessed.

Diem My, now thirteen years old, confidently stood on the small stage set up in the restaurant grounds, along with a group of young people from the culinary club she joined at school, performing a performance combining traditional baking art and modern creations that they themselves had researched and developed together.
"Are you shaking?" Diem Tram asked her daughter before the performance, adjusting the small apron that Diem My herself had designed with her own logo.
"I'm a little nervous, but I'm very proud to introduce what I've learned," Diem My replied, standing up straight, her eyes filled with determination just like her mother's all those years ago. "I want to show everyone that I can continue and promote the values that my family has worked hard to build."
Diem Tram hugged her daughter, unable to hide her pride and deep emotions. "I believe, you will do very well," she said, her voice choked, her eyes shining with indescribable happiness.

Diem My's performance with the young people received a warm welcome from a large number of guests, with endless applause when the children performed their pastries, a harmonious combination of traditional beauty and youthful, modern creativity. Standing below the stage, Khang held Diem Tram's hand tightly. The two could not hide their extreme happiness and pride when witnessing the results of their persistent efforts over the past decade.
"Do you remember the first time I tasted your cake?" Khang asked softly, as the two stood right in the kitchen area where they had witnessed that fateful moment, where everything between them began.
"How could I forget," Diem Tram replied, smiling emotionally as beautiful memories rushed back. "It's been ten years, but it still feels like it was yesterday."
"And now, we stand here again, witnessing our daughter continuing the values that the whole family has worked so hard to preserve," Khang said, squeezing his wife's hand, his eyes filled with deep satisfaction. "I think, there is nothing more meaningful than that in this life."

The celebration ended in a warm, emotional atmosphere, with the participation of many friends and business partners who have accompanied their story for the past ten years. Mrs. Cam, now over ninety years old but still alert, was brought in a wheelchair to attend this important event, unable to hide her pride when looking at the achievements of the whole family.
"I never thought I would live to witness the full ten-year happy journey of my children," she said, her voice trembling due to old age but still full of joy, holding Khang and Diem Tram's hands tightly with all sincere love. "I believe, your grandfather, and Viet Khang's mother, are smiling happily when they see what you have built together."
As the ceremony gradually ended and the sunset began to fall, dyeing the familiar restaurant space yellow, Diem Tram, Khang, Diem My and Phuc Thinh stood together, looking at the warm surroundings, feeling the full happiness of a family that was built from an unusual beginning, but has become the most beautiful testament to the power of sincere love, perseverance and absolute trust in each other.
***
That night, when both children were asleep after a long and exciting day, Diem Tram and Khang were still sitting together on the old wooden chair placed right in front of the restaurant's porch - the chair where they both sat on the night of their proposal, which has now become a place to keep many memories for the whole family over the years.
"I still remember, the first day I stepped into this kitchen, I thought I would never be able to save my mother's bakery," Diem Tram said, her voice quiet but warm, recalling those anxious days. "And yet now, looking back at everything that has happened, I feel like a beautiful dream has come true."
"It's not a dream, but the result of perseverance, of the love I have for my family, for my passion," Khang replied, putting his arm around his wife's shoulders. "And I'm grateful for the opportunity to accompany you on that journey, to be a part of this beautiful story."
They sat quietly together, watching the stars begin to dot the night sky, listening to the gentle wind blowing through the trees along the street, fully feeling the peace and fulfillment of a journey that had gone through so many ups and downs to reach the shore of happiness today.
"I think, our story will continue to be written for a long time," Diem Tram said softly, leaning her head on her husband's shoulder, her eyes directed towards the Cam Luong sign still proudly hanging in front of the restaurant door under the gentle moonlight. "Not only by us, but by Diem My, Phuc Thinh, and future generations as well."
"I believe so," Khang replied, a warm smile evident on his face. "And no matter what direction that story turns, I believe, it will always be written by love, by perseverance and by deep pride for the values that our family has worked hard to preserve, just like how it began, right in this small kitchen on the 12th floor."
The kitchen on the 12th floor fell into a peaceful sleep at night, carrying in its heart so many stories that have passed and are still waiting to be written, as an eternal testament to the power of love, perseverance and belief in true values - things that will always last, no matter how much time passes, no matter how many generations will continue to write new chapters for the story that began with a contract that seemed to be just a simple calculation.

A few days after the celebration, Diem Tram and Khang spent time sitting together to think about future plans, especially the plan to expand the scholarship fund to a larger scale, aiming to support not only young people pursuing a career in baking, but also food enthusiasts in general across the country.
"I think we should cooperate with vocational schools to build a more systematic training program," Khang proposed, sharing the long-term vision he has long cherished. "Not only stopping at providing scholarships, but also creating a comprehensive support ecosystem for young people passionate about food."
"That's a great idea," Diem Tram replied, her eyes lighting up with excitement at the new prospect. "I believe this will be the best way for us to continue spreading the values we have built together, not only to our family, but to the wider community, people who need an opportunity to pursue their own passions, just like how I was given that opportunity many years ago."
They spent the entire evening sketching out specific plans together, filled with excitement at the new projects that were gradually taking shape. Looking at their two children sleeping in the next room, they both clearly felt that the journey ahead was still very long, but with the solid foundation of love, trust and common passion that they had built together over the past ten years, they were completely confident to continue writing meaningful new chapters for their family's story, a story that they both believed would continue to inspire many generations to come.
