Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — The Day I Take It All Back
My parents-in-law forced me to divorce right in front of the whole family. I turned around and took back 9 shophouses. Everyone immediately turned pale. My father-in-law opened a family meeting. As soon as he spoke, he was cold:
“You are not worthy of my son, divorce!”
My mother-in-law and brother-in-law immediately joined in and agreed, while my husband sat silently as if speechless. I'm still calm as if nothing:
“Okay, I agree.”
My father-in-law was so happy that he immediately sent my husband to print out a divorce petition. I spoke slowly:
"Ah yes, husband... 9 shophouses are in your name, tomorrow I will get all the house documents back."
“From next week, the inheritance will also be canceled.”
Father-in-law's hands trembled:
“What shophouse?”
My husband's face turned pale and his voice was lost:
"Dad... that's the property of her father-in-law, let's just leave it in my name for now..."
After hearing this, his father-in-law felt weak and fell directly onto the chair. In this "family trial", the main character is me. In the center of the sofa, my father-in-law - Tran Chinh Duc - gently cleared his throat. His cloudy eyes scanned me as if evaluating a defective product that was not worth the money. Sitting next to him, Vuong Lan's mother-in-law handed over a cup of freshly brewed tea, but her finger secretly poked her husband's waist, her eyes full of encouragement. On the single sofa opposite, Tran Dinh's sister-in-law was holding her phone, her lips curled up, her gloating expression barely hidden. And my husband, Tran Hao, sat right next to me. There's a pillow between us. That gap is like a deep chasm. He bowed his head, intently playing with the drawstring on his sweatpants, as if they were hiding the secrets of the entire universe. Tran Chinh Duc put the teacup on the table, the sound of porcelain hitting the table surface sounded cold and dry, just like the sound of a judge's hammer hitting.
“I called you here today to inform you of something.”
He leaned forward slightly, his ten fingers clasped together on his knees, showing the look of a powerful homeowner.
“Our Tran family cannot accommodate you anymore.”
Vuong Lan immediately continued, his voice high-pitched:
"That's right! We've been married for three years and there's no movement in our stomach. The Tran family can't end up in your hands!"
Tran Dinh's phone slipped from his hand and fell with a "clack" sound. She quickly bent down to pick it up, muttering:
"Mom, what's the point of saying that? The main thing is that she's not worthy. Now my brother is the manager of nine stores, what about her? She's been sitting in the cafeteria all day, and if I say it, I'll lose face."
Every sentence and every word is like a poisoned arrow. I don't look at them. My eyes only stopped on Tran Hao. He finally stopped studying the drawstring. Feeling my gaze, his body stiffened. But he still didn't raise his head. Just tighten the rope in your palm a little more. That silence was his answer. Tran Chinh Duc is extremely satisfied with this "working together" atmosphere, directly concluding:
"You are not worthy of my son. Divorce."
My voice wasn't loud, but clear enough to cut through all their tossing and turning words. The living room immediately fell silent. Tran Chinh Duc was stunned. Vuong Lan gasped. Even Tran Dinh forgot to look at his phone. They thought about me crying and begging, but they didn't expect me to calmly say the word "okay". I looked at Tran Hao and repeated again:
“I agree idea."
Tran Hao suddenly raised his head, his eyes filled with surprise. Tran Chinh Duc was the first to react. His face immediately bloomed with joy, as if afraid I would change my mind, he slapped his thigh hard:
“Good! Refreshing!”
“Tran Hao, what are you still standing there for?”
“There is a divorce form on the computer in the study room, hurry up and print it! Print three copies!”
Tran Hao's lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something. But under his father's stern eyes, he still stood up and walked unsteadily towards the study room. The atmosphere in the living room immediately relaxed. Vuong Lan even picked up the apple on the table and peeled it, smiling while peeling:
“Finally solved a big problem. Dinh Dinh, now your brother is free, General Manager Truong's daughter that I introduced can arrange a meeting."
Tran Dinh chuckled:
"Mom, quickly arrange it. They are international students returning to that country, hundreds of times better than some other people."
Their every word buzzed in my ears like flies. I don't bother to pay attention. Just slowly raised the cooled cup of tea in front of me, gently blowing the foam that didn't exist. In the study room, there was the sound of a printer operating. I put down the teacup. The sound wasn't loud, but it was enough to make everyone's eyes fall on me again.
“Before signing the application, there are a few things that need to be clearly discussed.”
Tran Chinh Duc impatiently waved his hand:
“What does someone like you have to hand over with nothing to hand over?”
"We in the Tran family won't mistreat you, just take the car you're driving."
“The car is mine.”
I calmly replied.
"My father bought it all at once, and the registration certificate is in my name."
Tran Chinh Duc's face immediately stiffened. I looked at Tran Hao who had just walked out of the study room, still holding a stack of A4 papers that were still a little hot in his hand.
“Tran Hao.”
His body trembled.
“‘Trend Tien Phong’ store on the southern walking street.”
“Vuong Ky hot pot restaurant on the Western food street.”
"The same seven premises from the first floor to the third floor in Van Dat Square."
“A total of nine shophouses.”
I stopped, watching his face lose blood little by little.
“The original certificate of ownership and contract in the household's name are all in the bank safe.”
“Tomorrow morning at exactly nine o'clock, I'll come pick it all up.”
I turned to Tran Chinh Duc, who was completely petrified, and leisurely added the last sentence.
“Ah yes.”
"The inheritance rights of the person in whose name the household is named... from next Monday will be completely canceled."
“I'm just letting you know.”
Tran Chinh Duc's hands shook violently. The cup he had just picked up could no longer be held.
