Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — The Scariest Betrayer Is The One You Trusted
During the company's year-end review, Lam Hieu Hieu, an intern led by me, suddenly rushed onto the stage and grabbed the microphone from the MC's hand. Her eyes were red, pointing straight at me in front of the entire board of directors and staff, loudly denouncing:
"Today I want to come forward and denounce with my true identity! Director Truong of the Planning Department secretly revealed the company's core bid price to her husband's company!"
The whole hall immediately fell into a dead silence. The boss's face was so dark and gloomy that it looked like he was about to cry. Lam Hieu Hieu wiped away her tears and expressed her pain and indignation:
"Miss Truong, it's usually you who teaches me to be loyal to the company. But now, just to help my husband earn more money, are you heartlessly destroying everyone's food bowl? I'm really grateful to you for guiding me, but this time... I must definitely stand on the side of justice!"
Looking at her fiercely righteous appearance, I just felt cold all over my body. To help her sign an official contract, I stayed up for half a month editing one plan after another for her. Even working to the point of stomach bleeding and having to be hospitalized in the emergency room. But today, just to remove me from this position and take my place, she did not hesitate to stab a knife straight into my heart. Revealing secrets to my husband? Sorry. I've been single since my mother's womb for thirty years, and I've never even had a relationship. So where can I find a husband to reveal secrets to his company? During the company's year-end review, the spotlight focused on the center of the hall. The boss just finished his sentence: "This year, the Planning Department has had particularly excellent achievements." Before I could stand up, Lam Hieu Hieu, the intern sitting in the back row, suddenly rushed straight onto the stage. She snatched the microphone from the host's hand, her eyes red as if she had just cried.
“I want to come forward and denounce with my real identity!”
The whole hall immediately fell silent. All eyes turned to her. Lam Hieu Hieu took a deep breath, then pointed straight at me.
“Director Truong Nghien of the Planning Department secretly revealed the bid price of the Tinh Ha Trade Center project to her husband's company!”
My hand holding the glass of water stopped in mid-air. I even suspected I had heard wrong. Revealing the bid price? I'm thirty years old and so single that I've deleted the dating app no less than eight times. So where did my husband come from? Before I could open my mouth, the whole auditorium exploded.
"What? Doesn't the Tinh Ha project open bidding next week?"
“If the bid price is leaked, wouldn't all of our half a year of work have gone down the drain?”
“Normally Director Truong looks so dignified, how could he do this?”
General Director Tran's face immediately darkened. Tinh Ha commercial center is the company's largest project this year. If you win, all employees will receive a reward at the end of the year. If you let it slip, the whole department will have to bear the consequences together. Lam Hieu Hieu cried so much that her voice trembled.
"Sister Truong, I know you once guided me. I also know you're standing up today If I say these words, many people will certainly scold me for being ungrateful and ungrateful."
"But I can't just look at you because you want to help your family get rich and force the whole company to die with you."
"You yourself have always said that as a human being you must have limits and principles."
“So what about you?”
As soon as I finished speaking, the eyes of many people looking at me changed. Some people were surprised. Some people have doubts. There are also people who don't bother to hide the disgust that is clearly visible on their faces. I sat in the front row, my whole body was cold. Lam Hieu Hieu is an intern led by me. On the first day of joining the company, she didn't even know how to write meeting minutes properly, every sentence and every word was edited by me. The first time she made a plan, the layout was as confusing as an elementary school student's wall paper. I also stayed up until dawn to start over. In order for her to be retained as an official employee, I took her to meet customers, took her to market surveys, and even assigned her a few simple projects to have the opportunity to show off in front of the leadership. Half a month ago, the plan used for her official transfer protection session was also completely edited by me, when my stomach hurt so much that I couldn't stand up straight and still had to receive intravenous fluids in the hospital. I never thought... One day, right in front of the entire company, she would fatally stab me in the back. General Manager Tran stared at me, his voice low.
“Truong Nghien, please explain.”
I put down the glass of water and slowly stood up.
“First, I have never disclosed the bid price.”
“Second, I don't have a husband.”
As soon as I finished speaking, Lam Hieu Hieu seemed to be excited by that sentence and suddenly burst into laughter.
“Miss Truong, you've come to this point and you're still planning to trick everyone?”
“Do you dare say you have never secretly sent documents out?”
I calmly looked at her.
“Do you have proof?”
Lam Hieu Hieu immediately pulled out a stack of papers from her body.
“Of course I do.”
She held up the stack of papers in front of everyone.
“This is the bid price list that I saw you print out with my own eyes.”
“This is the conversation history between you and someone from the other company.”
"Also, at 6:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, I saw with my own eyes you at the coffee shop downstairs giving a USB to a man."
“That man is the project manager of my husband's company!”
A series of gasps of surprise were immediately heard in the crowd. Behind me, someone scolded me in a low voice:
“Truly shameless.”
When Lam Hieu Hieu heard that sentence, she cried even harder.
“Sister Truong, I beg you, don't make the same mistake again.”
“Now if you proactively admit, proactively resign, and try to minimize the damage to a minimum, maybe General Director Tran will still leave you some dignity.”
“But if you wait until the project fails and the company reports to the police for investigation... then your life is really over.”
Looking at her face filled with self-pity and determination, I suddenly understood. This is absolutely not a temporary impulsive moment. She has been preparing for a long time. Prepare carefully just for today... Tighten the last nail on the coffin named after Truong Nghien.
