Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — The Scariest Betrayer Is The One You Trusted
Lam Hieu Hieu immediately repeated the entire accusation from beginning to end. She speaks very fluently. Even the moments of choking and shedding tears were well calculated.
“Comrade police, I know that doing this will offend my superiors.”
“But I can't stand by and watch the company get harmed.”
"I'm just an intern, I have no support, no background. I'm really scared."
Speaking of this, her tears fell again. A female colleague standing next to her quickly gave her a tissue.
“You did the right thing.”
“Someone has to dare to stand up for something like this.”
Looking at that scene, I didn't know if my heart was cold or numb. A lot of people don't care what the truth is. They just like to side with people who seem weaker. The police turned to look at me.
“How do you respond to these accusations?”
I calmly replied:
“It's all fake.”
Lam Hieu Hieu immediately raised his head.
"Sister Truong! You can't roll your eyes and lie like that!"
I didn't bother looking at her.
“First, I don't have a husband.”
“Second, I have never given any bid price list to Trieu Bang.”
“Tuesday…”
“What they call the bid price list is not the real price list.”
As soon as my words ended... The entire meeting room fell silent again. General Director Tran's expression immediately changed.
“What did you just say?”
“Isn't that the real price list?”
I looked at him.
“General Manager Tran, I originally planned to report this matter to you tomorrow.”
"Since last week, I have suspected that someone is secretly scouting the bid price of the Tinh Ha Trade Center project."
“Because three times in a row I discovered someone was going through my filing cabinet.”
“So I intentionally made a test version of the quote, with a wrong number pre-installed, then placed it right in the most visible position.”
“Who took it…”
“That person is an insider.”
The blood on Lam Hieu Hieu's face immediately drained away. Trieu Bang also quickly put his foot down. I continue:
“What she just gave... is that test version.”
"As for the real price quote, from start to finish it is only saved in an encrypted storage drive."
“Other than me and General Director Tran... no third person has ever seen it.”
General Director Tran was stunned. The company's lawyer immediately picked up the photocopy for comparison. Mr. Han also opened the computer. A few minutes later, the lawyer raised his head.
“There is indeed a problem.”
“Some important prices in this table have been corrected.”
"If you use this quote to participate in bidding... the project's profit will be negative from the beginning."
The expressions of everyone in the room began to change. At that moment, Lam Hieu Hieu suddenly shouted.
“No way!”
As soon as she finished speaking, she realized she had overreacted and quickly corrected herself.
“I mean... now Ms. Truong can of course say it's fake.”
"Who knows if she just thought of it to make up a story or not?"
I nodded.
“What you say makes sense.”
“So... I have other evidence.”
I turned to look at Mr. Han.
“Would you please help me open the document access tracking system that I registered last week?”
Mr. Han nodded, turned on the computer and connected it to the projection screen. Just a few seconds later... A log of access history appeared on the big screen. The trial bid list file was opened a total of three times. Time first... Chu Thien's employee account. Second time... Lam Hieu Hieu's employee account. Third time... After unsuccessfully logging in using my computer, Lam Hieu Hieu also plugged an external USB into the computer. The time displayed clearly... 4:12 p.m. the other day. Lam Hieu Hieu stared dumbfounded at the screen. Her lips trembled. I looked at her and slowly asked word by word:
“Are you still planning to... continue acting?”
In the meeting room, no one was on Lam Hieu Hieu's side anymore. The colleagues who had just sympathized with her now quietly turned away. Chu Thien could no longer stand. She bowed her head, her voice trembling.
“I... I was just curious so I opened it up to take a look.”
I turned to look at her.
“Are you so curious that you just copied it?”
Mr. Han added:
“Chu Qian's employee account only opens files, there is no copy history.”
“The person who copied the file is Lin Xiaoxiao.”
