Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — The Sun Of The Base
I obediently let Tran Diem drag me down the bed like a dead dog. In this life... who drains who, I'm not sure yet. The public hall of the shelter was filled with people. More than three thousand refugees from the bottom floor crowded together, each holding in their hands the bowl of porridge they had just received. Lam Du stood on a high platform, behind a giant hologram screen, broadcasting her close-up live. She took off her heavy coat, revealing a delicate red velvet dress underneath. As for me, wearing a thin, tattered cotton shirt, I knelt and sat at her feet, trembling. Lam Du stood high above looking down at the refugees below, his voice transmitted through the microphone echoed throughout the hall:
“Dear families, the cold night is scary, but as long as we have love, we will be warm!”
"In order for everyone to get through tonight, I spared no effort to take out all the food in the house. Even my best friend secretly drank all of my life-saving nutritional fluid, I don't blame her."
She pointed at me, her eyes red, as if she still considered it an honor. Tran Diem immediately took the lead and shouted loudly below:
"Long live you! You are a living Bodhisattva!"
The refugees below had just finished drinking porridge and were in a strange state of excitement. The already frozen limbs began to warm up, and the paralyzed nerves gradually recovered. Hearing Tran Diem's shout, someone excitedly raised their hand:
"It's so magical! Miss's porridge is truly a miracle medicine!"
"I feel like there's a fire burning in my stomach! I'm not cold anymore!"
“Thank you, miss! Thank you for saving my life!”
Some people even burst into tears and knelt towards the high platform. Lam Du looked at that scene, the pride in his eyes almost overflowed. She tilted her head slightly, and in a voice only I could hear, she whispered venomously:
"Dong An, see? This is the difference between you and me. I was born destined to become a goddess admired by the whole world."
“Now… give up all the heat on your body.”
As soon as the words ended, I felt an invisible suction force immediately lock me. That's Lam Du's system started up. If I really drank all that nutritional liquid, I'm afraid I would have immediately turned into a dry corpse. But I don't drink. In my body there are only pieces of extremely cold ice. Lam Du's system sucked hard once, but only sucked in a heart-piercing cold blast. Her face changed, her eyebrows furrowed, and she instinctively wanted to increase her power.
“What's going on... why is it cold?”
At that moment, the system's automatic judgment mechanism was activated.
The "ginger tea extract" that I put in the porridge, and the broker in Lam Du's system, have the same origin.
At this time, the three thousand refugees under the stands were already drinking porridge, within the scanning range of the system... were three thousand mobile thermal energy reactors. 【Nail! Detected that the main target heat source is not enough… searching for a backup heat source…】 【Ding! Detect thermal reaction at the same source! Quantity: 3000+! The verdict is "high priority supply"! Automatic connection open!】 Before Lam Du could react, her face suddenly turned from rosy to red like pig liver.
“Whoa—”
It was as if a volcano exploded inside her body. The body temperatures of three thousand people, even though each person contributes only one degree Celsius, add up also a terrible number. The calmness on Lam Du's face immediately collapsed. She grabbed her collar and frantically tore off her expensive velvet dress, her screams piercing straight through the microphone:
“Hot… so hot!!”
The cheers in the stands immediately fell silent. Everyone stared wide-eyed at the strange scene on the high platform. Miss Lam was still dignified and noble just now, but now she was like a crazy woman, frantically scratching her skin. With every move she made, a white vapor visible to the naked eye rose from the top of her head. It is the phenomenon of body fluids evaporating quickly under high temperatures. Tran Diem panicked and rushed forward to help her:
"Miss, what's wrong with you? It's only minus ten degrees here..."
“Get out!”
Lam Du slapped Tran Diem hard in the face. As soon as the slap landed, Tran Diem immediately cried out miserably. She covered her face and backed away in panic, only to see a clear red hand mark appear on her cheek, and even blisters appeared!
“Hot… your hands are so hot!” Tran Diem shouted.
The livestream room completely exploded.
"Damn? What's going on? Did you spontaneously combust?"
"Miss Lam has been practicing the fire escape technique and has become a demon?"
"Is this charity work? This is a mutant performance!"
Lam Du could no longer hear outside sounds. The source of heat rushed into her body like a floodwater breaking a dike. The more the three thousand refugees felt warm and grateful to her, the tighter the double bond of spirit and body became.
“Aaaaa— help me! Help me! Turn it off! Turn it off!!”
