Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — Thien Kim Half Wonton
After the plot ended, I — the evil female character in the book — lost everything. My biological brother took me to a sanatorium. Being tortured to the point of insanity by medication was my predetermined outcome. But I am not willing to even have my way of death arranged by others. During the engagement party of the beloved female lead, in front of all the guests in the hall, I climbed over the railing of the 30th floor terrace and jumped down. Since then, Giang Thanh has lost a member of the Tham family who had a bad reputation and was arrogant and arrogant to the extreme. And in the old alley in Nam Thanh, another lady appeared at a night restaurant pushing a cart selling wontons. Until three years later, someone stopped in front of my stall. He asked me if I wanted to return for revenge. I'm serving soup to guests. The ladle rotated in the pot, the green onions emerged, the fragrant smell wafted into the eyes, making people sting. Mr. Luu, who repaired shoes next to me, stuck his head out and looked at the man for a long time. Finally, he couldn't help but come over and ask me:
"Ah Hoanh, who is this person? He dresses like someone on TV. You know such a rich friend and yet you're still here selling wontons?"
My hands still didn't stop, pushing a bowl of wontons filled with fresh meat, glancing at Uncle Luu and then back at Luc Dinh Nghien.
“Ah, is that him?”
“Previously he was my driver's assistant.”
Uncle Luu immediately burst into laughter.
"You really dare to brag. You argue with people every day for two cents and yet you still want to be a big lady?"
"If you really stayed up all night until your hands were chapped from the cold, you would have gone home early to cry."
He picked up the bowl, laughed and walked away. I also laughed. That's right, I'm A Hoanh and have been selling wontons in an old alley in Nam Thanh for two and a half years. Not the eldest lady of the Tham family in Giang Thanh, the one who used to spend money like trash, doing all kinds of bad things - Tham Tri Duong. After laughing, I tapped the pot and called out to the people in line:
"Don't stand around and watch the excitement anymore. There are only twenty bowls left of the wontons with shrimp, they're all sold out and ready to go."
After the last bowl of wontons was taken away, the light at the beginning of the alley left only a dim yellow halo. The man was still standing in front of the counter. I collected money, cleaned the table, poured out leftover soup, and pretended I didn't see him. It wasn't until I carried the pot next to the water tank that his voice rang out from behind:
“Tham Tri Duong.”
“Are you going to hide in a place like this, selling wontons for the rest of your life?”
I didn't turn around, using an iron scrubber to rub the old oil on the bottom of the pot. He was silent for a long time, his voice hoarse:
"Duong Duong, your brother is also looking for you. As long as you agree, I will help you this time."
I turned off the faucet. The alley immediately became quiet.
“Help me?”
I turned around and placed the pot firmly on the cart.
"Luc Dinh Nghien, is there anything else on my body worth tricking you into again?"
Before, he also said he would help me. In the end, he helped my brother push me into a sanatorium. Three years ago, To Van Tinh fell down the stairs in the Tham family's old house, breaking a finger. Everyone said I pushed her. That very night, my brother Tham Hoai Xuyen ordered someone to hold me tightly and force me to confess. Before he passed away, my father put a pocket watch in my hand old. Inside the watch hides a savings book and a key. He said:
"Tri Duong, go. Go to Bac Thanh, there will be someone to pick you up. Don't trust anyone in the Tham family."
That was my only way to live at that time. I didn't tell anyone, just looked for Luc Dinh Nghien. The person I once thought that, even if the whole world hated me, he would still leave a car door for me. When he received the ticket, he bowed his head and looked at it for a long time. I thought he couldn't bear to leave me. It wasn't until halfway through the road, when my arms and legs felt weak and my eyes turned dark, that I realized there was medicine in the water bottle. Before I lost consciousness, I saw him take out a pocket watch from my inside pocket. He said:
“Tri Duong, if you do something wrong, you must be punished.”
When I woke up, I was in a sanatorium. White walls, iron doors, needles that never end, pills that take forever to swallow. After that, I saw the news of To Van Tinh and Chu Nghien Le's engagement in the newspaper that the nurse threw to me. It was written in the newspaper that the bride brought with her a precious token left by the late grandfather of the Tham family, and gloriously married into the Chu family. That watch was worn on her white wrist. It's ridiculous. The last piece of jewelry my father left for me ended up being the most beautiful piece of jewelry at her engagement party. Now, the person who had personally blocked that path was standing in front of me, saying he wanted to help me. Luc Dinh Nghien stared at me, as if he was hurt by that sentence.
“Duong Duong, can you stop talking so sharply?”
"Three years ago, you jumped off the rooftop right in front of us. Have you ever thought about how the people who stayed behind had to live?"
“Or are you not afraid to die, but are afraid of returning to Giang Thanh?”
I took a look at him. There was some soup on his sleeve, perhaps he was brushed by a passing customer just now. Before, he liked cleanliness the most. The chair was cleaned three times by the Tham housekeeper, but he still complained that it was dusty. Now he doesn't find out. I thought for a moment then said:
"I'm sorry To Van Tinh."
Luc Dinh Nghien was stunned.
“What?”
I wringed the towel dry and hung it on the handlebar of the car.
"Three years ago I ruined her engagement party. I honestly know I was wrong. Please tell her to rest assured, her brilliant life from now on will definitely not be disturbed by me."
"Of course, you can also rest assured. I swear by my father, I will absolutely not destroy the reunion days of you people."
So, please also. Stop standing in front of my stall, saying words that sound like human voices. It's just that I couldn't die three years ago, which made you feel uncomfortable. Luc Dinh Nghien opened his mouth, but for a long time he couldn't say a word. While he was stunned, I climbed on the tricycle, turned on the accelerator and left. In the rearview mirror, he put his hands on the wall, bowed his head and coughed for a long time. I sped up a little more. Anyway, I don't have any money now. If I was really bullied by him, I wouldn't be able to pay it back.
