Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — When I No Longer See Them As Family
Three o'clock in the morning. A taxi stopped suddenly in front of the police station. The car door opened and a figure staggered down. It's Khuong Vi. My little brother in name. He was wearing a wrinkled shirt, his hair was messy, and his face was full of panic. As soon as he walked in and saw me sitting there, he was stunned. Immediately afterward, anger flared up on his face.
“Khuong Nghien!”
He rushed a few steps in front of me, raised his hand to strike. Immediately, a police officer stepped forward to stop him.
“What are you doing?!”
“Even in front of the police, you still want to move your arms and legs?”
Khuong Vi was detained but still screamed at me madly.
“You wicked woman!”
"What do you want to do?! Pushing your mother and Tieu Van into this place, do you still have a conscience?"
“You can't see us living peacefully, can you?”
I raised my eyelids and looked at him coldly. It's like watching a dancing clown.
“Khuong Vi, I should ask you that question.”
“What do you guys want to do?”
“Destroyed my house, threw my things, forged ownership certificates and then wanted to take over my house.”
“What are your intentions?”
Khuong Vi's eyes avoided for a moment. But very quickly he regained his aggressive look.
"What's your house?! My name is on the certificate!"
“Then it's my house!”
“It's only natural that I leave my wife in the bedroom!”
"On the contrary, you, an outsider, have what right to call the police to arrest the homeowner?"
His voice was extremely loud, echoing throughout the police station hall. Many people turned to look. I laughed.
“Khuong Vi, do you really think that fake notebook is your talisman?”
“Do you really think that if I bite you to death and don't let go, I won't be able to do anything to you?”
The aggression on his face instantly stiffened.
"You... what are you talking about?! What are you pretending to be?"
I don't bother paying attention to him anymore. I stood up and walked in front of police officer Truong, the person in charge of my case.
“Officer Zhang, my younger brother Jiang Wei is also present.”
"Just now he admitted with his own mouth that he believed that the fake certificate was real, and at the same time used it as a basis to declare ownership of the house."
“This constitutes complicity.”
“I request that he be included in the case.”
Officer Truong nodded seriously.
“We will handle it according to regulations.”
He turned to look at Khuong Vi.
“Khuong Vi, right?”
"His mother is Dinh Tue and his wife Luu Van are currently suspected of illegal intrusion, intentional destruction of property and falsification of state agency documents."
“Now your sister accuses you of being an accomplice.”
“Please follow us into the testimony room.”
Khuong Vi was completely dumbfounded. Perhaps he never thought things would develop to this extent. When he was taken away by two policemen, he still turned his head to look at me. His eyes were filled with surprise and disbelief. It's like I don't understand why I became so "cold-blooded and won't accept relatives". I returned to my seat and picked up the cold glass of water. The phone vibrates again. It's the email Tieu Truong sent. Inside are Khuong Vi's entire bank statement and recent half-year spending history. I turned each page. The more I watch, the colder I get. Several hundred thousand yuan borrowed at high interest rates online. Over a million yuan in credit card debt. There are also large sums of money transferred each month to a foreign account. That is the history of online gambling deposits. I immediately forwarded the email to lawyer Ly. Include a sentence.
“The final pull to tighten the net… is here.”
The city at dawn is bone-chillingly cold. But I know. It's almost morning. Dinh Tue and Luu Van were temporarily detained. As for Khuong Vi, he was the one who came later so he was still being interrogated all night. I walked out of the police station and saw lawyer Ly waiting outside. He wore a neat suit, gold-framed glasses, and a cold, serious expression.
“Miss Khuong.”
“Lawyer Ly, it's still bothering you to come so late.”
“This is my job responsibility.”
He gave me a stack of documents.
“This is a criminal prosecution petition with a civil compensation claim that I prepared in advance based on the information you provided.”
“You take a look, there are mainly three requirements.”
“First, hold all three of them criminally responsible, absolutely zero tolerance.”
“Second, ask the three people involved to compensate you for all property losses, a total of 786,000 yuan.”
“Third, ask the three people to publicly apologize and post apology statements in the mainstream media to restore her honor.”
I looked at the documents and nodded slightly.
“I have no opinion.”
“Lawyer Ly, please handle it vigorously.”
“I only have one request.”
“Let them… pay the most painful price.”
Lawyer Ly gently pushed his glasses. The cold streetlight reflected on the lenses of his glasses.
“Just as you wish.”
