Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — When I No Longer See Them As Family
The next morning. Attorney Ly and I went back to the police station again. This time, we came to submit more evidence. Police officer Truong in charge of the case personally welcomed him. His face seemed quite tired, with light dark circles under his eyes. Apparently the whole station had been busy all night.
“Miss Khuong, lawyer Ly.”
“Officer Truong, regarding my client's case, we have some new evidence to add.”
Lawyer Ly placed a thick bag of kraft paper documents on the table. Police Officer Truong opened it. Inside are all the documents Tieu Truong stayed up all night arranging. Khuong Vi's bank statement. Loan contracts from online credit platforms. Credit card bill. Along with a history of transferring huge amounts of money to overseas gambling sites. Every single item is so clear that it cannot be denied. Officer Truong turned the pages, his face becoming more and more serious.
“This is the financial situation of my younger brother, Jiang Wei.”
I calmly spoke up.
“He has long been insolvent, saddled with millions of yuan in gambling debts.”
"This is enough to prove a strong motive for him to collude with my mother and his wife to usurp my property."
“They are not suddenly greedy.”
“It's a criminal plan that has been prepared for a long time.”
Lawyer Ly continued.
"Comrade police, this evidence is enough to prove that Khuong Vi is one of the masterminds."
"He took advantage of his identity as a family member, coordinated internally and externally, and intended to use fake certificates to appropriate Ms. Khuong's legal assets to pay off gambling debts."
“This behavior shows signs of fraud involving a particularly large amount of money.”
Officer Truong took a deep breath and closed the file.
"I got it."
“This evidence is extremely important.”
“We will immediately verify Khuong Vi's financial situation.”
“If true, the nature of the case will be much more serious.”
Having finished speaking, he picked up the phone on the intercom.
“Tieu Vuong, immediately bring Khuong Vi in for questioning again.”
“Bring all these documents with you, tell him to explain clearly.”
Lawyer Ly and I looked at each other. We all know. The most important step has been completed. In the face of iron and steel evidence, any denial will become meaningless. Waiting time is not too long. About an hour later. The interrogation room door opened. A young policeman walked quickly towards us. On his face was a look of surprise that was hard to hide.
“Khuong Vi confessed.”
“Are you all open?”
“Everything is revealed.”
The policeman wiped the sweat from his forehead.
“At first he was very stubborn and refused to accept anything.”
“Until we put this stack of statements in front of him.”
“His whole body immediately collapsed.”
“He said his gambling debts had forced him to a dead end, and debt collectors were blocking his door every day.”
“It was he who came up with this plan.”
“He convinced his mother that she was an outsider and would get married sooner or later, and keeping the house would only be convenient for others.”
"If only I could transfer it to his name and then leave it to his son."
“As soon as his mother heard it, she immediately agreed.”
"That fake certificate was also the one he spent 50,000 yuan to hire someone to make."
I quietly listened to everything. There were no waves in my heart. All are within my prediction. Only when you listen to others recounting those dirty plans... Still makes me feel nauseous.
“And Luu Van?”
“Does his wife know about this?”
The policeman nodded.
"Khuong Vi declared that at first Luu Van was afraid, feeling that this was illegal."
“But Dinh Tue told her that as long as she gave birth to a son, she would be the greatest meritorious servant of the Khuong family.”
“This house is finally left to their son.”
"Even if you find out later, looking at your nephew's feelings, you certainly won't do anything to them."
“So Luu Van also participated.”
“After she went on a business trip, she and her mother hired someone to change the locks and then started throwing her things out.”
Truly "one family". It's true "respect for your grandchild". They see me as a soft persimmon that can be squeezed however they want. Also trampled on the last ray of attachment I had for the thing called love. Lawyer Ly asked:
"So the person who forged the documents, has Khuong Vi confessed yet?"
“Declared.”
The policeman's expression became more serious.
“This is a ring specializing in forging state agency documents.”
"We followed the clues provided by Khuong Vi to report to the city department and prepare to make an arrest."
“This case is getting bigger and bigger now.”
I stood up.
“Officer Truong, thank you everyone.”
"I'll let you guys handle the rest."
“I wait for the results.”
