Chapter 12
Chapter 12 — When I Stop Being Invisible
The lady Trieu used to always criticize event scheduling as being troublesome and then dump it all on me. I turned on the computer.
“Where is Vu Tieu Man?”
“Waiting for you outside.”
"Tell her to come in here. Let her preside over the Thien Vu Media Project. I'll take her through the first round."
A new battle is about to begin. The CEO of Thien Vu Communications is named Ha Duy, thirty-six years old, returned from studying abroad, speaks quickly, and works so decisively that he doesn't give others time to breathe. The first meeting took place right at their company's open workspace. More than two hundred people crammed into one floor, desks placed close together, with almost no partitions. The whole office was as noisy as a market. Ha Duy led us into a small meeting room.
"Boss To, I've heard about your story in Hang Vien. It's very... legendary."
"There's nothing legendary about it. Just twelve years of continuous work."
"That's perfect. Our company is now in dire need of someone who can 'work continuously for twelve years' to rebuild the system. After round B, staff tripled, but management couldn't keep up. HR reported that the turnover rate had reached 30%."
I flipped through the company documents he had sent before.
“Mr. Ha, your problem is not unsystematic.”
I stopped for a beat.
“It's that there is a system... but there is no one to enforce it.”
“You bought three sets of OA systems, but none of them function properly.”
Ha Duy burst out laughing, his smile carrying a bit of helplessness.
“If you glanced at her, you'd see right through it.”
"Not just a glance. I spent four hours looking at the document you sent me."
His expression changed, from polite to serious.
“Boss To, how much do you quote?”
“The basic plan is one million two, including half a year of having people on duty to deploy.”
“Isn't Hang Vien's eight hundred thousand?”
"Hang Vien's plan was designed and applied by me myself. As for yours, you have to re-investigate from scratch, with a higher level of complexity."
Ha Duy thought for a moment. Stepping out of the Thien Vu Media door, Vu Tieu Man's face was full of admiration.
“Miss To, when you quoted the price, he didn't even bother to bargain.”
"Because you spent four hours looking at their documents, and brought up problems that even he didn't realize during the meeting. What the customer bought was not a plan, but trust."
Vu Tieu Man nodded vigorously. Arriving at Thuy Hoa, Tieu Ly from sales was already waiting in the meeting room.
"Miss To, another customer came to inquire - Dinh Thinh Real Estate, a regional real estate business, wants to optimize internal operations. There is another side, a culinary brand chain called Huong Vi Giang Ho, which is preparing to list on the stock exchange and needs to standardize its operating system."
Three customers. Arrived in less than a month. Tham Dich stood at the door.
“To Van, in the first quarter of the new business, the value of the signed contract has already exceeded two million eight.”
“Still a little short of reaching the profit sharing mark.”
"Including Thien Vu's contract, next month will surpass the milestone."
I looked at the customer list written on the whiteboard. Hang Vien. Thien Vu. And Dinh Thinh and Huong Vi Giang Ho are negotiating. Forty-three years old. Been fired for two months. Currently me sitting in an office with a window, with the title of Managing Partner, managing three projects. Previously in Hang Vien, I managed eight departments, my salary was 140,000, and no one knew my name. Now change to another place, do the same thing — Only this time someone saw it. Someone is willing to pay. Someone calls me boss To. I don't know whether to laugh or sigh. At night, To Niem asked me: "Mom, lately it seems like you're working more overtime than when you were in Hang Vien."
"That's right."
“But mom looks happier than when she was in Hang Vien.”
I pondered.
“Because now the effort I put into overtime is for myself.”
When Thien Vu Media's project entered its second month, Vu Tieu Man was able to take on half of the workload herself. The child is progressing very quickly.
