Chapter 10 — You demand justice, I'll show you what justice is

"Every day it's real. Cooking dinner, waiting for you to come home, returning your credit card, silently helping you move forward—is there anything fake? But sincerity... can only withstand being insulted once. The night you said 'share in half', all of that was erased."

He held a cup of tea, crossed his legs, and said "fair" from above. That image, I will never forget. Tran Hao stood up.

“Give me three days.”

He entered the room and closed the door. During those three days, Tran Hao did three things. First, he went to see a lawyer. The lawyer said frankly: with the current state of property and ownership, divorce does not benefit him. He will get nothing out of this marriage. Second, he returned to the company. Zhou Kien Hoa told him privately: as long as Tan Duyet Media restores cooperation, the suspension can be canceled. But the condition is— He must go and beg his wife. A man who once asked for a split... had to turn around and beg the wife he once despised. He didn't come looking for me. The third thing, he sat on the balcony, smoking all night. On the night of the third day, he came out. In hand is the divorce agreement. Last page. Signature line. His name was signed.

“I signed it.”

“But I have a request.”

“You say it.”

"Tell me the truth. If I had never proposed to split in half... would you have told me your true identity?"

I thought for a moment.

"The fifth year of marriage. I planned to transfer to you 10% of the company's shares that day."

His hand tightened on the paper. Fifth year. Two more years left. If he just didn't say that— There's no need to do anything right. Just… don't do it wrong. But he did. The expression on his face completely crumbled. Not because of losing 10% of shares. But because he finally realized— In front of me was a very good life. And with his own hands... ruined it.

“Is there anything else you want to say?” I asked.

He put the agreement down on the table and went back into the room. The door closed, making a very soft sound. Like something fell to the ground. Just like… someone's knee touched the edge of the bed. I'm not going to see. On Monday morning, the agency did the procedures. Everything happened very quickly. Fill out the application, compare, sign and stamp. The staff asks according to the procedure:

“Confirmed?”

I said: “Confirmed.” Tran Hao said: "Confirmed." Two rolls of paper. One book for each person. Stepping out of the building, the sunlight was so bright that it hurt my eyes. I stood on the steps, looking at the small notebook in my hand. Tran Hao stood next to him, saying nothing.

“I returned the car keys.” I gave him the last one. "Your personal belongings in the house can be cleaned today, no rush."

"Work matters - temporary suspension, you don't need to worry. I will let someone restore cooperation with Han Vu. This is a business decision, not related to personal matters."

He turned to look at me.

“You… still help me?”

"Not to help you. Han Vu's plan still works, stopping for too long is not good for both sides."

He stood there for a long time.

“You are a good person.”

"I don't need you to judge me as good or bad. I just need you to remember—the next time you're with someone, don't mention the words 'divide' again."

I turned around and walked towards the taxi.

“Go to Tan Duyet Media headquarters.”

The car rolled away, I looked back in the rearview mirror one last time. He stood in front of the gate, clutching a small blue notebook. Sunlight fell on his shoulders. He looks thinner. At that moment, I felt a little soft. Just a little. Not enough to change anything. Go to the company. The assistant quickly walked over.

"President Lam, there are two meetings this morning. At ten o'clock it's the investor side—"

"Wait. Report to the operations department, restore cooperation with Han Vu Advertising. Normal process, no priority or delay."

"Yes. One more thing—a self-promoting blogger contacted the PR department and wanted to interview you."

“What interview?”

The assistant's expression was a bit strange.

"About... what happened at the party the other day. They wanted to do a topic on 'Women starting a business and the hidden corners of marriage'."

“Not accepted.”
