Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — 700,000 Yuan And An Annulment
“Why are you looking up these things?”
“Not investigation.” I pushed the paper over "to summarize."
She lowered her head to look, then immediately frowned. The first line above reads “List of expenditures.” Below are each amount, time and notes. Hotel deposit. Accompanying photography and pre-paid wedding services. Every time the two families meet, I pay for meals. Travel expenses to see the house are paid by me. Last night I exported all the payment history I could find, collating each item into a table, not even missing the notes section. Once people in finance don't want to talk about love anymore, they become cold very quickly. Luong Khai glanced at the two lines, and his voice finally showed a bit of frustration.
“What do you mean by bringing this up now?”
“Very simple.” I said, "If we don't get married anymore, we'll settle the matter."
Vuong Tu Cam placed the cup firmly on the table.
“You really intend to cancel the marriage because of this.”
“It's not one thing.” I looked at her, "But it was only yesterday that I saw clearly what I am in your house."
She laughed coldly.
"What are you, of course you are Khai Khai's fiancee, our family won't let you in."
“But you guys don't let me in the house book.”
When I stopped her, her expression darkened, then as if she suddenly thought of something, her voice softened a bit.
"Thanh Hoa, why don't you understand? I wrote my name to prevent risks, not to protect you. You and Khai Khai are married, moving in, living together, and later having children, is there anyone who can chase you away?"
I looked at her and suddenly felt very tired. There are people who are scary not because they argue well. It's that they can make injustice seem like they are thinking for you.
“So I asked you.” I said, "If you really weren't wary of me, why didn't you tell me in advance?"
Her lips moved slightly, unable to answer for a moment. Luong Khai immediately interjected.
“Because I know you will think a lot.”
As soon as I said this sentence, the last bit of dignity I still wanted to keep for him disappeared.
“So you decided for me.”
“I don't want there to be any conflict before signing.” He took a deep breath, "you know, once my mother agrees, things will be very unsightly. I plan to finish the formalities first, then we can discuss the agreement, discuss guarantees, and even add your name after marriage. It's not impossible."
I looked at him and suddenly burst into laughter.
“Luong Khai, do you know what's terrible about your sentence?”
His face was unsightly.
“Hua Thanh Hoa.”
“It's not like I haven't thought of a way to make up for it.” I said, "It's just that from beginning to end, you thought, just finishing the job first, and then slowly coaxing me out later, is the way that costs the least."
His eyes immediately became confused. Because I said it right. Vuong Tu Cam was provoked by that sentence and immediately raised his voice.
"What's the low cost? You think people's hearts are so bad. Our Luong family lacks you that little money or that person. If you calculated like that, at first we wouldn't have agreed to let you two get married."
I looked at her and turned to the second page of the list.
“Then we just talk about money.”
She was stunned. I pushed the second page to the middle of the table.
“Hotel deposit 18,000 yuan, I contacted yesterday, cancellation can be refunded 15,000 yuan, loss 3,000 yuan, 12,000 yuan wedding photos have been taken, I bear it. half, you pay half, take photos and pre-paid wedding services 14,000 yuan, refund 9,000 yuan, the remaining 5,000 yuan is divided in half.”
"When the two families meet, I advance the money for meals and other miscellaneous expenses. I don't calculate the details with you anymore, it's like paying the tuition myself."
I read each item one by one, the space around the table became more and more silent. Luong Khai probably didn't expect that I asked about the refund policy in advance. Vuong Tu Cam's face became more and more ugly.
“What do you mean by that?” She looked at the paper, "Even this little loss, I still want to account for it to the end."
“What if it doesn't?” I raised my head, "continue to make me understand."
She was stopped by me, and it took her a long time to say a word.
“After six years of our relationship, you finally make calculations with my son like that.”
I looked at her, every word clear.
“It was because of six years that I realized I couldn't continue to pay any more.”
Luong Khai finally lost patience, put his hand on the list, his voice lowered.
“Do you really have to do everything so heartlessly?”
I lowered my head to look at his hand on the paper, suddenly feeling strange.
