I looked up.

"Chu Dinh's husband. Liu Loi."

Luu Loi stood at the factory gate, wearing an old faded coat, holding a recruitment flyer. Seeing me, he shrank his neck.

“General… General Manager Diep.”

“Come to apply for a job?”

“Yes… I saw the notification…”

He said without daring to look at me.

“What did you do at the Chu restaurant before?”

"In charge of... purchasing. Also in charge of kitchen inspection."

“How many years?”

“More than four years.”

He hastily added:

"General Manager Diep, I have never targeted you before. Chu Dinh spoke harshly, but I never said anything—"

“I didn't ask that.”

I interrupted.

“Do you have a CV?”

He froze, then took out a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. Four years of purchasing experience, done inspection, and has a food safety certificate.

“Second floor human resources department. Fill out the form.”

“…So that's okay?”

“What else do you want?”

Liu Loi opened his mouth, then nodded strongly, turned around and ran away. Uncle Tran followed.

“Really accept this person?”

"Accepted. Worked for four years, understood the process. Saved having to retrain."

I went back to the workshop.

"Besides... he's about to leave the Chu family. Chu Dinh has been asking for a divorce for almost a month. If he doesn't find a way to live, he won't be able to take care of his children."

Uncle Tran was silent.

“General Manager Diep… you are really generous.”

“Not generous.”

I pushed open the workshop door and the sound of the machine came.

"A person is a person, a job is a job. He won't harm me. If he has the ability, use it."

In the workshop, new equipment is being tested. Workers stood around listening to the engineer's instructions. I walked to the inspection table, holding the newly released sample. Suddenly there was a noise outside the door. Uncle Tran frowned and quickly walked out. A moment later, Uncle Tran returned, his face even more unsightly.

"General Manager Diep and Chu Dinh are here. They are causing chaos outside the gate."

Chu Dinh stood in front of the security room, holding a one-year-old baby in his arms. The little child cried. She pointed straight at Liu Loi, her voice high-pitched:

"Luu Loi, you're such a bastard! You ran to Diep Thanh's place to work? There's something shady between the two of you, right?"

Luu Loi's face turned red:

"Chu Dinh, are you crazy! I came to ask for a job!"

"Ask for a job? Please stay here? He ruined my whole family like this, you still work for him? Do you still have a conscience?"

"Your brother's restaurant is blocked! Your mother is in deep debt! If I don't work, who will take care of the children? You take care of me?!"

Luu Loi's voice also rose, "You sit at home all day cursing Diep Thanh, can you make money cursing!" Chu Dinh froze for a second, then burst into tears. The baby in his arms cried even louder. I stood at the factory door, watching for about ten seconds. Uncle Tran asked in a low voice:

“General Manager Diep, will you call security to chase him away?”

"No need."

I walked out. Chu Dinh saw me, his crying stopped, then turned into gritted teeth:

“Diep Thanh… you are really good… really good… you even brought my husband to work for you…”

"I didn't pull it. He came to apply for the job himself."

“You lie!”

"The recruitment notice is posted right at the gate. Everyone can see it. He brought his own CV. If you don't believe me, ask."

Liu Loi was next to him and nodded continuously. Chu Dinh looked at him, then at me, his lips trembling. Then she sat down, hugged the baby tightly, and cried until her whole body was shaking.

“My house is finished… everything is finished… my brother was detained again last week… my mother was recognized and scolded by someone when she went to the market yesterday… my father hasn't left the hospital yet… no one is willing to help us…”

I looked at her. In five years, she has never cried in front of me. Whatever the time lost her mother-in-law's silver bracelet and blamed it on me, or when criticizing the cheap gifts I bought in the family group - she always smiled, a disdainful smile, the corners of her lips curled up. Now sitting on the ground, face dirty, hair stuck to cheeks, the baby cried hoarsely. Liu Loi walked over, sat down, and picked up the child.

"Dinh, let's go home. I'll take you and your mother home."

Chu Dinh did not say anything, nor did he stand up. I turned my back to the workshop. Uncle Tran followed behind.

“General Manager Diep, about accepting Liu Loi…”

“Continue.”

I picked up the inspection form to see, "Human resources followed the correct procedure. Three-month probation." Uncle Tran nodded. That afternoon, another video appeared online. Not posted by Chu Dinh. A passerby turned back. In the video, Chu Dinh holds his child and sits in front of the factory gate, crying, with Luu Loi standing next to comfort him.

"Meet in person! My ex-husband's brother came to cause trouble in front of the factory, and was retorted by his own husband!"

Top comments:

"This house is so dramatic. The mother-in-law wants to jump off the building, the brother-in-law sits crying in front of the gate, the ex-husband destroys it. When will they make a movie?"

Second comment:

"To be honest, this woman's husband still works for his ex-wife, which proves that Diep Thanh is not bad."

I scrolled through and turned it off. Phone vibrates. Chu Dinh texted. Don't curse. Just one sentence:

“Sister Diep, about Liu Loi's work... thank you.”
