Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — After the Rushing Water
For the next three years, I will continue to dive, film, and travel. Every departure is decided by me. I raised my glass and drank the juice inside. Returning to the hotel room, I turned on the computer and logged into my new work email. There are several emails inviting you to join new projects. Each document plans the next filming point. Ha Du Xuyen sent a text message, reminding me to rest early. I turned off the computer, lay on the soft bed, listened to the gentle sound of ocean waves outside the window and closed my eyes. During the rainy season two years later, I returned home again. The country's leading marine equipment exhibition is held in the coastal exhibition center. Ha Du Xuyen and I returned home to participate in the exhibition, choosing the latest pressure-resistant equipment for our next deep diving project. In the exhibition center, the lights were so bright it was blinding, the metal display counters reflected cold light, and the voices of manufacturers' introductions mixed together, as bustling as another sea. I compared the parameters of several types of imported pressure relief chambers, Ha Du Xuyen stood next to me holding a notebook, recording each advantage and disadvantage I pointed out. When the exhibition ended, dark clouds spread and a heavy rain poured down like a waterfall. Ha Du Xuyen opened a large black umbrella to cover my head. We walked side by side towards the VIP parking lot. The wind was very strong, Ha Du Xuyen lowered the umbrella's handle to block the incoming rain strands. On the street outside the exhibition center, there was a figure squatting, unable to avoid the rain. He sat in the rain, his whole body soaked. The shirt that was once flat and not carelessly stuck to his body, his hair hung down and disheveled, like a person who had long lost all face. It's Co Tu. He held something in his arms and covered it with his vest, afraid it would get wet from the rain. My steps did not stop, I continued to walk forward. Co Tu recognized me through the rain. He struggled to stand up, his feet slipped, and his whole body fell into the puddle. Mud and water splashed all over my face and body, causing extreme harm. He scrambled up from the ground and staggered towards us. What he held in his arms was a portable oxygen tank, the same brand I used to use before. “Nim Niem!” Co Tu's voice was hoarse. "Look, I bought it right. It's the brand you usually use, I've also checked the batch, there's absolutely nothing wrong." He held up that oxygen tank, raised it in front of me with both hands, eager to prove something. In the distance, a woman wearing dirty work clothes pushed a cart filled with discarded cardboard boxes past. That's To Vi. She was so drenched in rain that she couldn't open her eyes. She turned her head to see this scene, immediately turned her head away, and sped away. Co Tu didn't care about To Vi at all. "Nien Niem, can you look at me? I've really changed." He lifted the oxygen tank, rainwater flowed down his cheeks, unable to distinguish whether it was rain or tears. "I will never make decisions on my own again, I have learned how to take care of others. I give you a chance, let me prove it to you." Ha Du Xuyen stopped walking. He tilted the umbrella handle towards me. He stood quietly next to me, leaving the choice to me. I looked at his face, which was white with rainwater, and just felt strange. I walked past Co Tu and went straight towards the off-road vehicle parked not far away. Co Tu stiffened in place, the hand holding the oxygen tank slowly drooped. I pulled the car door open and sat in the passenger seat. Ha Du Xuyen took out his umbrella and sat in the driver's seat. The car door closed, blocking out the sound of wind and rain outside. The off-road vehicle started, the wheels crushed through the puddle, and steadily left the parking lot. I looked at the road situation ahead, not even the corner of my eye left the man in the mud and water. He finally missed me
What type of oxygen tank do you use? But it's too late. The night wind on Saipan Island blew in from outside the window, bringing with it the salty taste of sea water. The window in front of the desk was open, and the sound of ocean waves sounded like white noise regularly. I sat in front of the computer, organizing the new device's data. This equipment exhibition brought a lot of harvest, the pressure resistance of several new diving suit models completely met our requirements. Ha Du Xuyen walked in carrying a glass of warm milk. He placed the glass on the corner of the table, very close to my hand but not blocking the mouse and documents. Even in such a small position, he remembers to leave space for me. The temperature of the glass passes through the glass into the palm of your hand. "Thank you." I picked up the glass and took a sip. Ha Du Xuyen pulled out the chair opposite and sat down, spreading a sea chart on the table. "The location of the deep sea exploration next month, I'm currently planning on these three sea areas." He used a pen to mark on the chart. "Let's see which place is more suitable for this filming theme." I put down my glass and leaned over to look at the sea chart. "The ocean currents here are too complicated and will affect the stability of the equipment. The clarity of this ocean gap is not enough." I pointed to the third marker. "The depth and ecological environment of this coral reef cluster best suits the requirements." Ha Du Xuyen seriously listened to each of my suggestions, drawing a circle on the third marker.
