Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — Aurora Doesn't Wait For You
Giang Du sighed. "You and Mr. Nghien are about to get married, what's the point of comparing yourself with a sick person? Van Van isn't as strong as you." The two words "strong" are like a rag, tightly stuffing all the frustrations inside me. Chu Nghien's phone call came. Giang Du turned on the speakerphone. “Take Duong Duong home, don't let her wander around alone.” "Mr. Nghien can rest assured." I spoke up. “My luggage is still at the airport, I know my way back.” The other end of the line was silent for a moment. "Duong Duong, don't spread your anger to Giang Du. Text me when you get home, I'll call you back when you land." Tong Van Van's voice rang out from the side. “Ah Nghien, you go comfort Duong Duong first, I'm okay, I'm really okay.” Chu Nghien lowered his voice. “Don't try to force yourself.” Call disconnected. Giang Du looked at me. "You heard me, Mr. Nghien is still worried about you in his heart." I didn't reply. … When I got home, Chu Nghien's mother was waiting at the door. She was wearing a cashmere coat and carrying a thermos box. As soon as she saw me, she frowned. "Tieu Nghien called me and said I didn't understand things very well at the airport." I pushed my suitcase into the door. “Auntie, please come inside.” Chu Nghien's mother did not move. "Van Van is sick, I'm a normal person, I can't compare her to see who is more pitiful. Since childhood, Tieu Nghien has watched her grow up. Her parents passed away early, leaving us in the care of the Chu family. This is not a small matter." My movement of changing shoes slowed down a bit. “I know.” “If you know, you should know how to sympathize.” Chu Nghien's mother sat down on the sofa and placed the thermos box on the tea table. “Tieu Nghien specifically told me to stew soup for you, she still remembers you haven't eaten anything yet.” I looked at that thermos box, and the hardness in my throat suddenly softened. Chu Nghien is always like that. Do everything that hurts others, then give me some sweetness when I can't stand it anymore. Chu Nghien's mother scooped a bowl of soup and pushed it in front of me. “Drink, don't disappoint him.” I picked it up and took a sip. Inside is sprinkled with pepper. My stomach is not good, eating pepper will hurt. Chu Nghien's mother did not pay attention and continued to advise. "He promised to go see the ring with you when he got home today, right? That's his attitude. Women shouldn't be too stubborn, in marriage everyone has to know how to give in." The phone vibrates. Chu Nghien sent a photo. In the photo, Tong Van Van is leaning against the plane seat, wearing his jacket. The attached text is: "She's sleeping, don't worry. Drink the soup, I'll make it up to you when I get home." I stared at the three words "don't worry", suddenly not knowing who he wanted me to not worry about. Tong Van Van also texted. "Miss Duong Duong, A Nghien was afraid I was cold so he covered me with a coat. Don't misunderstand. Just now he asked Aunt Chu to bring you soup. He really loves you." This is her advantage. She never fought directly, only exposed Chu Nghien's care for her before my eyes, and then proved for him that he loved me. Chu Nghien's mother saw the screen and smiled slightly. “Van Van, this child really understands things, I'm afraid you'll misunderstand.” I put the bowl down. “Auntie, I won't drink anymore.” Chu Nghien's mother's face turned pale. "Tieu Nghien has a sincere heart, do you even want to refuse this little thought?" The doorbell rang. Chu Nghien's assistant stood outside the door, holding a gift box in both hands. “Miss Tham, boss Chu told me to bring it, saying you really like this necklace.” I opened the box, it was a pearl necklace I had been looking at for months but couldn't bring myself to buy. Chu Nghien's mother's face softened. “Look, he went abroad and still remembers to comfort me.” When my fingertips touched the pearl, it was so cold that I shrank back. The phone screen lit up again. Tong Van Van sent the second photo.
