Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — Aurora Doesn't Wait For You
The dining table was silent for a few seconds. Chu Nghien's mother pushed a menu in front of me. "Order first, Tieu Nghien specifically told you to order some frugal dishes for you." I looked at the few dishes circled on the menu, they were indeed all dishes I could eat. His subtlety, always so precise, makes me sick. Just as I was about to swallow that resentment, Tong Van Van suddenly coughed profusely. Chu Nghien immediately stood up to help her. “Where is the medicine?” The lens shook a few times, Tong Van Van nestled into his arms. "A Nghien, have I made Duong Duong unhappy again? Or stop worrying about me and go back to her." Chu Nghien's mother winked at me. “Tieu Tham, you also say something, don't make things difficult for Tieu Nghien.” The whole dining table stared at me. I put down my chopsticks. “Miss Tong, please rest assured.” Chu Nghien's face finally became a little more pleasing to the eye. “That's right.” I looked at him. “But Chu Nghien, I won't accept something like this a second time.” As soon as the words fell, Chu Nghien's mother's face immediately darkened. “This girl, why are you speaking so threateningly to others?” Chu Nghien frowned again. “Tham Duong, I'm not your subordinate, don't talk to me in that tone.” I laughed. “Then don't treat me like a schedule that can change at any time.” On the other side of the screen, Tong Van Van's eye sockets turned red. "Miss Duong Duong, do you think I'm faking my illness? I can show you the doctor's certificate. A Nghien, don't be angry with her, she waited for you for five years, it wasn't easy." Waiting for you for five years is not easy. It sounds understanding, but it turns my waiting into a disaster. The aunt of the Chu family sighed. "Tieu Tham, Van Van has already said something for you, why are you so nervous anymore?" Chu Nghien's mother put down her chopsticks. "Tonight was originally going to discuss the wedding date, but it seems like you still have to learn how to be a daughter-in-law of the Chu family first." Chu Nghien was silent for a few seconds. "On the wedding day, wait for me to come home and then talk." I looked at him. “No need to wait anymore.” Chu Nghien in the screen raised her eyes. “What do you mean?” “We broke up.” Chu Nghien stared at the camera and suddenly laughed coldly. “This song again.” Chu Nghien's mother slammed her hand on the table. “Shen Duong, can you say this kind of words casually in front of adults?” Tong Van Van grabbed Chu Nghien's sleeve tightly. “Ah Nghien, please quickly comfort Ms. Duong Duong, she's probably just too heartbroken.” But Chu Nghien did not coax him. He pulled the blanket on Tong Van Van's shoulders to tighten it, his voice cold. "Shen Duong, I don't have time to act with you right now. Wait until I return home. If you still have this attitude, we will talk later." I stood up. "Okay." Chu Nghien's mother called back. "Stop, the meal hasn't finished yet, are you leaving for anyone to see?" I pulled out the chair. On the screen, Tong Van Van suddenly hugged her ear tightly. “A Nghien, my head hurts.” Chu Nghien immediately bent down to comfort her. From the tablet came his patient voice. “Don't be afraid, I'm here.” As for me, I stood in the middle of a banquet table full of relatives of the Chu family. For the first time, no one had a word to say for me. “Tham Duong, sit down for me now.” Chu Nghien's mother's voice chased after her. I stopped at the dining room door and didn't turn back. Chu Nghien's father finally spoke. "Tieu Tham, let's talk about the breakup. Today there are relatives present, you have to save face for the Chu family." I turned around and looked straight at the tablet. Chu Nghien was still hugging Tong Van Van, all his attention was focused on her. “Do you need me to support the Chu family's reputation alone?” Chu Nghien's mother's face was extremely ugly. “You haven't married here yet and you've already started arguing with your superiors?”
